During the day in Fukui, indulged in a feast of soba. It was a day trip with a youth ticket, so my body was already feeling worn out. That night, I ended up at a chain restaurant where I usually wouldn't go for dinner. But the atmosphere at Machikado-ya, a 24-hour late-night spot, got me a bit excited. I carefully chose my meal - decided on the "Tenzaru set meal" for 690 yen (tax included). The combination reminded me of a cafeteria near my workplace called Matsuho. The set included hot, freshly fried tempura - okra, 2 shrimp, smelt fish, and 2 fish cakes. The soba itself was just like the cheap 128 yen soba you can find at supermarkets. The tempura dipping sauce and soba dipping sauce tasted like the ones you'd find at a Showa era highway rest stop. Oh, maybe Matsuho wasn't so bad after all. On the bright side, they offer free rice refills, it's a budget-friendly place, and the service was polite. Depending on how you approach it, it might not be a bad choice after all. It was a good learning experience. Thank you for the meal.

"Located along Route 30, 'Machikado-ya' is a diner belonging to the Meshiya Group. The prices are quite reasonable. We ordered two servings of chicken karaage set meal, one serving of miso katsu set meal, and one serving of chicken nanban set meal, totaling around 3000 yen. It's quite affordable. The miso katsu cutlet isn't too thick, just the right thickness and firmness. The miso sauce is delicious and goes well with the rice. The karaage comes in a set of 5 pieces. It's a bit on the crispy side, lacking juiciness, but the flavor goes well with the rice. Each set meal comes with shredded vegetables with dressing already on them, which is a nice touch. The pickles are also tasty. Rice refills are available from a machine. If the rice were even tastier, I might have gotten a refill. Overall, it was a satisfying meal!"

On weekdays, this local diner offers affordable set meals for lunch. However, on Sundays, they have a special "Holiday Lunch" menu. I tried the miso katsu set this time. As expected from a chain restaurant, the service was quick and efficient. They also offer free rice refills, and despite the small space, the layout is well thought out. The miso katsu had a sweet miso sauce that went well with the rice. I had a second helping of rice and finished off with ochazuke using the pickles provided. The only downside was the cramped space, which made it a bit noisy and uncomfortable. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and left promptly after finishing.

I came across a cheap set meal restaurant and decided to try it out. Upon entering, I noticed that there were seats available on the second floor as well. I checked the menu on the ticket machine and decided to purchase the "all-you-can-eat" set meal which included eel, pork cutlet, and rolled omelette for 930 yen (tax included). The eel had the typical texture and taste of Chinese eel, but it was delicious. The pork cutlet was a bit firm but still tasty. The rolled omelette had a slightly salty taste, but it was decent. Pickled radish and rice were also available for unlimited refills. You can use the machine to automatically serve rice into your bowl. The prices for other menu items are quite affordable, making it wallet-friendly. As a fan of set meals, I would definitely stop by if there is one nearby.

Daily set meal service lunch for 590 yen and chicken thigh tempura set meal! It's fried to a crispy and juicy perfection. This is a great deal for 590 yen! The restaurant is a bit small but they also have a second floor seating area. The daily specials seem to be popular, as they were sold out after I ordered. Thank you for the meal!

This is a restaurant with orange signs that serves set meals and is cafeteria-style. You purchase tickets at a touch panel machine inside on the left side. There are two machines. I wish they had a morning menu, but I found the touch panel machine a bit difficult to use as an old man, so I just randomly pressed buttons. The first-floor seating area had a cozy, old-fashioned vibe. The staff directed me to the second floor, where there were table seats. The chairs were fixed to the floor, which made it a bit uncomfortable to sit. Self-service tea (green tea and roasted tea) and water were available. I had the zaru soba, which had a chewy texture and was quite affordable. It was a good option to satisfy a small hunger. Overall, it was a good value for the price. Thank you for the meal.

The service at the restaurant was great and the staff were very attentive. I had the vegetable stir-fry set meal which was full of vegetables like cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, leeks, and onions. It also came with miso soup, rice, and cold tofu. The miso soup was a bit strong but overall, the meal was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend trying the tempura next time.

I had some business in Abeno and stopped by. I had the service lunch for 590 yen. It was a nori bento. It included white fish fry, chicken Karaage, meatballs, and tempura bamboo shoots on rice wrapped in seaweed. It also came with Wakame Udon as a set for 590 yen. It's cheap! The meat dishes were tasty and not strange, and the udon was also delicious.

Dinner on January 17, 2022 (Monday) at 6:30 PM at "Machikado-ya Abeno Store", a diner located near Tennoji Station, Abeno Station, and Osaka Abeno Bridge Station. I had the "Beef Sirloin Yakiniku Set Meal" for ¥1,000 and the "Fried Horse Mackerel" as a side dish for ¥160. This was my first time trying this restaurant. They offer a variety of limited, recommended, side dishes, set meals, rice bowls, etc. However, when the food arrived, I found that the portion was small and the taste was just average or even below that. It felt like a typical chain restaurant experience. If you are someone who is satisfied with just filling your stomach, then this place is suitable for you. They also offer individual dishes and you can have unlimited rice refills with four options for portion size. I brought my own sesame oil in my bag, which was handy as there were only two condiments on the table and they were quite bland. It would have been helpful if they had salt or salt and pepper available, but they didn't even have that.

Mini fried chicken curry bowl & mini tempura bowl set, tax included 690 yen. You can change the miso soup to miso chanko soup with lots of ingredients for an additional 210 yen. The bowl itself is just average, but the miso chanko soup is worth it, so no complaints! Next time, let's go for a set meal with chanko soup. #Life Foods Co., Ltd. #Machikado-ya #The Meshiya #Meshiya Shokudo #Sanuki Seimen

I visited a corner store for the first time. I ordered the tonkatsu set meal, and was surprised to find out that rice refills were free, making it very affordable to pay less than 800 yen. What surprised me the most at this store was the rice refill system. You put your bowl into a machine, choose the portion size (small, regular, or large), press a button, and rice comes pouring out into your bowl just like at a certain chain restaurant.

[Breakfast Series] Please check the official website or photos for the morning menu here (serving time: 5:00 am - 10:00 am). I noticed this shop during my last visit to Osaka, but since it has multiple locations, I decided to visit this nearby one. The breakfast menu was easy to understand on the ticket machine, but I just couldn't find where to change the miso soup no matter how hard I tried. I ended up buying the natto set meal and then started over to look for the side menu or set meal, but still couldn't find it. Frustrated, I was boiling with anger, thinking, "That's why I hate touch panel ticket machines!" And then, there it was, right in the middle of the breakfast menu screen that was shown first (laughs). Maybe it's not that the touch panel is bad, but maybe I'm the one who's bad at finding things, even with a regular paper menu.
- Natto set meal 390 yen + miso soup change 70 yen
It's a typical breakfast set, but the miso soup was hot and delicious with lots of ingredients! I found the "Shari Machine" in the store! (see the 4th photo) This is great!! With this, you can serve yourself the amount you want without making a mess around you! Well, I didn't go for seconds though (^_^;) Thank you for the meal, I'll come back again.

The menu has a lot of options, so it was hard to decide (lol). But once we ordered, the food came out quickly, which was a big help! We stopped by with my partner as we were working nearby. It's recommended for busy people! Many customers who seemed to be working were there. It's clear that this place is well-known! (^o^)

I have visited this restaurant many times, but this time, despite the first floor being somewhat empty, I was directed to the second floor. When I went upstairs, I saw that the tables were set up for one person each. I had a meal ticket for the daily special mini shrimp tempura rice bowl and cold soba for 590 yen, but nobody came to take my order. The staff seemed focused on clearing tables. Finally, when they took the meal ticket from the customer before me who was about to leave, I called out to them and handed them my ticket to place my order. However, I was left waiting without any further instructions. Later, when a customer who arrived after me received their daily special set, I realized that mine had been taken to the wrong table. After I pointed this out, the staff member quickly corrected the mistake, apologized, explained where I could get more rice and tea, and took my order. The person in charge did not offer any apology themselves, and I did not take any photos!

I found a place in Tennoji for a one-day training session. The portion size was great for only 700 yen! I ended up getting seconds, so I might be in trouble for the rest of the day (laughs).

The service lunch costs 590 yen. Today, I had the Tartar Chicken Karaage set. It comes with four large pieces of karaage with sweet vinegar and tartar sauce, which is delicious. It also includes miso soup with seaweed and unlimited refills of rice.

I ordered the yakiniku set meal, and regardless of the taste, you can eat as much rice as you want. It's great for eating a lot.

A certain "Kadoya" hunter visited the restaurant street Kadoya Abeno store. Along the Chin Chin train line in Abeno, there are several similar chain restaurants serving set meals and rice bowls lined up, but this one was the only one he hadn't visited yet. This means that he has explored all the dining options in the Abeno Tennoji area, especially lunch spots. There is still a popular health food restaurant with long lines remaining, but it is a place with 100% female customers, so it's not suitable for men over 30, so he decided to pass on that. He chose the Chicken Nanban set meal at the ticket machine. There were also various other menu options available, including a 550 yen daily lunch special (except on Sundays). The Chicken Nanban that arrived was freshly made and piping hot. He prefers the type with thicker batter for Chicken Nanban, but considering the price, he had no complaints. The portion of chicken could have been a bit thicker though. It came with cold tofu, miso soup, and unlimited rice refills. There are seats on the second floor as well, and the restaurant was always full during lunchtime, even on holidays. Overall, it was a typical set meal restaurant, and the area around Abeno is always crowded due to the influence of Q's Mall and Harukas. Thank you for the meal~
