I wanted to eat chicken skin in Hakata, so I searched and went to the KITTE store near Hakata Station. It was full, so I was about to give up, but the staff recommended another nearby store to me. Luckily, there were seats available here, but I wondered if this place is not as popular? However, as time passed, the seats started to fill up. The chicken skin was delicious without any complaints, and I recommend salt over sauce. The only thing I noticed was that the menu was a bit limited, especially in terms of side dishes and salads. The grilled rice ball had a rich flavor inside and a crispy outside, which was fantastic. I wish there were more varieties of Japanese sake and shochu for drinks. Thank you for the meal.

The second stop was at "Hakata Torikawa Daisjin Ekinishi Kushibou". Initially, we tried to go to Torikawa Daisjin inside KITTE, but it was full. While waiting for a table, the staff suggested, "If you don't mind walking about 5 minutes, we can reserve a table at the one near the station." So, we decided to move. When we arrived, they immediately showed us to the reserved table. Here, they serve torikawa with sauce and salt. The sauce was not as sweet and savory as expected, making it a good accompaniment for drinks, especially for men. The salt option had a crispy exterior and a chewy interior, which was delicious. We also tried the grilled yam skewer we were looking for, and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On the second night in Fukuoka, we went to Torikawa Dainin. When in Hakata, you have to try the chicken skin. For the first order, we got chicken skin with sauce and salt. Both were delicious and went well with beer. We also tried various skewers. The closing soup was also delicious. In the end, we ordered more chicken skin with salt!

Fukuoka's specialty dish, "torikawa"! It's crispy and delicious! It's affordable, so I end up eating a lot! Getting heartburn might be a sign of getting older! Haha, I prefer salt over sauce! It's rare to find torikawa that's not chewy in Tokyo, so I'm happy!

My son, who was visiting home, wanted to go for yakitori when he heard about Fukuoka. So, we went to Torikawa Daimin. There are many KITTE stores, but we found a new one near the bus center, which looked clean and nice. We sat at the counter and started with beer and chicken skin with ponzu sauce. It was a special moment for me to be able to drink with my son. We ordered 10 skewers of chicken with sauce and salt, as well as pork belly skewers. My son enjoyed the chicken skewers and asked for more with sauce. He felt the portion was a bit small, so he wanted to eat something more substantial. They only had grilled rice balls and chicken rice as options. As I am from Kagoshima, I recommended the chicken rice, which he really enjoyed, but he wished it was more hearty. We ended the meal with some ramen.

I usually go to Hakata Torikawa Daimin Kushikatsu at KITTE Hakata, but a new store has opened near the station. I went to Hakata Torikawa Daimin Ekimae Kushikatsu on a weekday evening, and maybe because it's a new store, we were the only customers at first. We ordered 3 pieces each of chicken skin with salt and sauce, along with bottled beer. The kushikatsu here is really the best, and the beer goes down smoothly. The chicken soup at the end was also delicious. We also got some free takeout and enjoyed it at home.

I couldn't forget the delicious yakitori I had during a business trip. The salt flavor was especially unforgettable, so I brought my family here! We ordered both the classic sauce and salt flavors. The highball here is unique! The sauce has a strong soy sauce flavor that is not common in Tokyo. It feels like it's packed with soy sauce. The salt flavor is full of umami without being too salty, with just the right amount of saltiness. It even feels like there is dashi in it. It was great to see you again, yakitori! The highball with a moderate strength goes well with the yakitori. In the end, my whole family got hooked on the salt flavor and we ended up ordering it twice. I bought 3 sets of frozen yakitori from the gift shop - 30 in total, 15 sauce and 15 salt. Let's live this spring with yakitori!

I have been to KITTE Hakata a few times, but it always seemed to have long lines. There was a new restaurant nearby, so I decided to try it this time. Eventually, we ended up going to KITTE Hakata as our second stop. We ordered dishes like Torikawa, Darm, and Otehane. It was a reliable restaurant with a good casual dining atmosphere.

This time, I went to Hakata Torikawa Minister Ekinishi Kushikamisan, located at 4-14-1 Hakata Shimomi Park Building 1st floor, in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. It is right next to Dakomekka. The glass-walled interior has counter and table seats, creating a welcoming atmosphere. It was almost full, but I managed to squeeze onto the counter. Orders are placed using a QR code, it's a self-order type of system. I started with a toast with a draft beer (Kirin Ichiban Shibori). Cabbage is served as a complimentary dish. The specialty is grilled chicken skin with sauce and salt (153 yen each), piled up high. How many can one person eat? It's been a while since I had Torikawa, it feels nostalgic yet familiar. Other items on the menu are all reasonably priced at 142 yen each. Grilled chicken, pork belly, gizzard, and chicken intestines. After two beers, I switched to a lemon sour (528 yen). To finish, I had a grilled rice ball (330 yen) with soup. The rice ball is topped with sauce and the soup is self-served. It seems to be affiliated with KITTE, as they asked about it when I entered. It's definitely a popular spot for tourists. The payment is also self-service. Thank you for the meal.

I heard that even though Fukuoka is the largest city in Kyushu, the cost of living is cheaper than Kagoshima, and I totally agree. The yakitori in Fukuoka is wrapped around the skewer with thick skin, giving it a substantial feel. It's delicious whether you have it with salt or sweet sauce. I highly recommend the yam skewer as well. There are several yakitori shops around Hakata Station, so if you're ever in a bind, I think this is a good place to go.
