The taste is on the sweeter side, but the thickness of the meat adds to its flavor. Although it lacks the charcoal-grilled flavor emphasized by other restaurants, there is no fishy smell typical of eel. Overall, it is well-executed. This year's addition is the "dashi tea dipping service." At the rice refill station, there is a pot of dashi broth available for dipping, offering a unique way to enjoy the eel. Recently, I saw a sign at Yayoiken for motsunabe, which I haven't seen in a while! Turns out it's only available at 3 stores in Osaka. I decided to buy motsunabe from the vending machine! I also got squid tempura on a whim. While munching on the squid tempura, I waited for the motsunabe. And there it was, piping hot motsunabe! It came with noodles and a side of sardine tempura. The motsu was chewy and delicious, and the broth had a Fukuoka-style soy sauce base. It also came with ramen noodles, which I turned into a rice soup by adding rice to the soup. I was stuffed!

Yayoi-Ken's sesame oil drizzled chicken set meal. The karaage (fried chicken) at Yayoi-Ken is delicious. The oil-drizzled chicken is also tasty. There were also side dishes available. The okra and seaweed sticky side dish and the sesame seeds and komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) mixed side dish were both delicious. Pickles and tea-steeped rice for ochazuke.
