Restaurant Aki, located facing Shijo Street, was having a parade of floats in front of the shop, so I wasn't sure if they were open, but they were. It seems to be a popular restaurant as there was a long line, but I was able to enter at a good time. After that, there was still a wait, so I must have been lucky. The atmosphere here is like an old-fashioned Western-style restaurant. I ordered the hamburger steak and beefsteak set. The hamburger steak with an added fried egg was around ¥1300, while the beefsteak and hamburger set was around ¥1600. I thought the beefsteak would be bite-sized, but it was more than twice the size I expected. The taste and portion of the beefsteak were excellent. #hamburger #hamburgerlunch

I had lunch with two junior colleagues! We were prepared to wait in line again, but this time we arrived a bit later (around 13:30) and were able to get seats smoothly. As usual, I ordered the "daily special set meal". Today's set meal was "pork cutlet" and "2 fried shrimps" for 1,100 yen. The batter was crispy and the Demi-glace sauce was delicious as always! Now that we've had a delicious lunch, I thought I should walk more than usual today! So we left the restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal. Thank you very much.

I've always wanted to go here, and I finally made it! It's definitely popular, there's a line. Today I had the hamburger and fish fry set meal. The hamburger is delicious, but the fish fry here might be the best I've ever had! ★

I visited a restaurant for lunch with my colleagues from work after a long time. We aimed to arrive at 1:00 pm as the restaurant opens at 12:00 pm, but we ended up waiting for about 30 minutes. I ordered the "daily special" which was shrimp fry and chicken cutlet. The usual Demi-glace sauce was as delicious as always. I poured a slightly sour dressing over the cabbage, and when mixed with the Demi-glace sauce, it created a unique flavor. It was very delicious! Please continue to provide the consistently delicious food. Thank you for the meal today as well.

Just before opening, people start lining up one after another. The interior of the restaurant is a bit messy, but strangely not unpleasant. They start grilling the hamburgers and frying the croquettes once the order is placed. The hamburgers are fluffy and the croquettes are crispy. The rice is freshly cooked and delicious. I'm full. I didn't notice while eating, but there is one cat inside the restaurant.

This is my second visit to this popular restaurant where people line up before it even opens. I ordered the daily special for ¥1100 and a cream croquette for ¥900. The daily special included a juicy hamburger and fried white fish, which were both delicious. The tartar sauce with the white fish was a perfect match. The cream croquette was also amazing, with a rich and creamy white sauce. The demi-glace sauce was not too heavy, and everything was so exciting to eat. The soup, possibly a potage, was also great. Overall, no complaints. This place is highly recommended.

Date of visit: November 2022, weekday, before noon
Number of people in line: 1
Reservation: No reservation system
Parking: None
Bicycle parking: None
Amount spent: Around 1000 yen
Atmosphere: Dining alone ✔️, 2 to 4 people ✔️, with children ❌, not for a leisurely meal ❌, eat quietly and leave
I lined up 10 minutes before the restaurant opened on a weekday and was able to enter at the end of the first round. The interior of the restaurant is small, with a counter and about four table seats. A cat was sleeping peacefully in a corner. Most customers were dining alone or in pairs. The table seats are for sharing, and even though four people can sit together, there is a transparent partition in the center of the table.
Orders are taken promptly in the order of arrival, so it's best to decide before entering the restaurant. The owner cooks alone, and the speed at which the food is served is impressive. The daily special I ordered arrived in no time. I noticed that many customers were also adding fried oysters or ordering Set B, which included chicken cutlet and pork chop. Both dishes were surprisingly tender, and the sauce was rich, making the rice very enjoyable.
The portion size of the main dish was large, and combined with the generous serving of rice, it may be a bit much for some women. Since the restaurant is always busy, it's not a place where you can eat slowly, so it's a good idea to ask for a smaller portion in advance. The staff may seem a bit brusque, but that seems to be their usual style. Their tone may be strong, but I didn't feel any irritation from them.
After quickly finishing my meal and paying, I made way for the customers waiting outside. The floor was a bit slippery, possibly due to grease or rain, so be careful when walking. I would like to come back to try their dinner set meals and other menu items. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely visit again.

If you want to eat Western food in Kyoto, I recommend this place! I went there in the winter, and a friend asked me if I knew of any delicious places to eat Western food and get full. I remembered this place, so I decided to post about it. I remember ordering the B set lunch and a side of oyster fry. The restaurant has counter and table seating, and since I went before it opened, I was able to enter smoothly. However, when I left to take a picture of the exterior, there was a line outside. If you want to keep it light, it might be better to go for a smaller meal! I consider myself a big eater, but I was completely full. I really enjoyed the food! It's a place I want to visit again. Thank you for the meal!

If you walk towards Omiya Station from the Karasuma intersection, you will find it on your right hand side. "Ajiki-san" is a restaurant that caught my attention when I saw people lining up in front of it the day before at 13:00. Despite its unassuming appearance, the dishes served are delicious and generously portioned, making it a great value for money restaurant. The interior is small and turnover is slow, so you may have to wait if you don't get in on the first round. On the day I visited, I managed to secure a front row spot in front of the store at 11:40. Observing the line, it seemed like you could get in on the first round by 11:50. The store opened around 12:05. We ordered in order of the line inside the store, and the owner started cooking the hamburgers. The restaurant has a unique atmosphere that I can't quite describe. I don't dislike it at all!! The B set meal (hamburger, pork sauté, cream croquette) features a flavorful and tender hamburger with onion accents. The pork sauté was incredibly tender, and the cream croquette had a rich creaminess. The soup that came with it was similar to cream soup, and the cabbage had a unique dressing that was quite nice. The portion size was satisfying, and the rice portion was just right. The cost performance was amazing at 1270 yen. After finishing the meal, it was past 12:40. They carefully prepare the dishes for each guest. For those with some extra time, I highly recommend this place!! Thank you for the delicious meal. I have discovered another great restaurant.

It's November and we have a week left until the opening of "Lalaport Sakai" on the 8th. We'll be featuring tonkatsu and katsu dishes for a week. On the 7th day, we went to "Restaurant Aki" in Shijo, Kyoto. We ordered the daily lunch special for 940 yen, which was pork cutlet and shrimp fry.

When I went, it was fully booked and very popular, so I ended up sharing a table with someone. But there was a partition on the table, so I could eat without feeling uncomfortable. I ordered the daily special, and it was delicious, especially the hamburger with demi-glace sauce was irresistible!

Lunch, visited alone at 12:00 when the store opened. Arrived at 11:55 and there was already a line... truly a popular place. Luckily, I was able to get in on the first seating, so I entered the store. I ordered Set B, with a soft hamburger and crispy pork sauté. The pork sauté was surprisingly delicious! Personally, I was more surprised by this than the hamburger. Despite being thick, the meat was tender!! The cream croquette was also delicious. There was one person in the kitchen and one person in the hall, and since we all ordered at the same time right after the store opened, it took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I'll keep that in mind for next time and plan accordingly. I want to visit again, even though the restaurant is a bit far from my office. Lunch is now confirmed to be delicious here. Thank you for the meal! ♫

I was in the mood for either ramen or spicy curry, but I decided to try out a Western-style restaurant that I had always been curious about. Surprisingly, I was able to get in without waiting in line this time. I ordered the B set meal for 1270 yen, which came with hamburger steak, cream croquette, tonkatsu, and corn soup. The hamburger steak was very tender yet had a nice meaty texture. My favorite part was the cream croquette - the creamy white sauce inside was so delicious and paired perfectly with the crispy coating! I also loved how well it went with the firm rice. Although it might be difficult to visit again due to the small space and usual long lines, I would love to come back with my family. Overall, it was a delicious Western-style restaurant that I enjoyed!

Daily lunch special (hamburger, white fish fry). The hamburger was soft and hearty. The demi-glace sauce, with a strong tomato flavor, also had a subtle bitterness. The white fish fry was crispy on the outside, with just the right amount of cooking inside, and the tartar sauce with a strong acidity added a nice touch. The corn soup was rich. It was delicious and good value for money, but the hamburger marinade and corn soup were on the stronger side, so preferences may vary among individuals.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on a weekend for lunch in May 2022. There was a line forming outside the shop. After about 15 minutes, I was invited inside. There are 5 counter seats and 3 tables for 4 people each. It seems to be run by a husband and wife. The wife moves around quickly, while the husband cooks diligently. Despite being busy, they provide attentive service without any waste.
I ordered the B set meal (hamburger, pork sauté, cream croquette). It was served in about 10 minutes.
- Hamburger: It was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The demi-glace sauce added a nice touch.
- Pork sauté: The meat was flavorful, and the sauce enhanced the taste. The more you chew, the more you can taste the umami.
- Cream croquette: Crispy on the outside with a creamy white sauce filling.
- It came with rice and soup (potato potage). The potage was smooth and had a gentle flavor.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant gives off a nostalgic Showa era vibe, but they have set up partitions for COVID-19 prevention measures. Despite being operated by the husband and wife duo, their service is efficient and polite. The Western food dishes were all delicious. Considering the taste, portion size, service by the couple, and location, the prices are very reasonable. It's no wonder there's a line forming outside the shop. I would definitely come back again.

I visited a popular Western-style restaurant in Shijo-Karasuma for lunch. Despite the sign saying they open around noon, they didn't open until 12:06. Inside, there were counter seats and tables, and at the back, a large cat was fast asleep. I ordered the daily lunch special for 940 yen, which was chicken sauté and menchi-katsu. The menchi-katsu was large, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sauce was delicious. The chicken sauté was a personal favorite, thick and tender with a sweet sauce. The rice was freshly cooked and very tasty. They really stick to their opening hours. The exterior may not be impressive, but it's a really delicious Western-style restaurant that I need to visit again.

There is a Western-style restaurant called "Aki" right near Shijo-Karasuma, which opens at 12:00. Before opening, there was a line of people waiting, which caught my attention. On a weekday at lunchtime, I joined the line as the 4th group about 5 minutes before opening. Even though it didn't open at 12:00, I started to get worried, but it finally opened at 12:10. There are 4 counter seats and 3 tables for 4 people each. Due to COVID-19, you have to sit alone at a table. I ordered the daily special, which was a hamburger and white fish fry. Surprisingly, it only cost 940 yen! When the dishes were served in the order of entry, I received mine around 12:30. The plate had a hamburger, white fish fry, shredded cabbage, and a generous portion of white rice on a separate plate. It also came with corn soup. The hamburger was a generous 150 grams, tender, juicy, and full of meaty flavor. The white fish fry was crispy and paired well with tartar sauce. The rice portion was quite large, so if you have a small appetite, you might want to ask for a smaller portion. The corn potage was rich and satisfying. Payment is cash only. This old-fashioned Western-style restaurant offers high cost performance and is highly recommended. I would love to come back again. Thank you for the meal! ★

A little west of Karasuma Station, there is a long-established Western-style restaurant called "Restaurant Aki" where a line forms from lunchtime onwards. I had always been curious about it as I often passed by the front of the shop, so I decided to visit for lunch when there were only two people in line. Of course, I was lucky because soon after I arrived, the line started to grow with about 5 people waiting, and some even gave up due to time constraints during lunchtime. While waiting in line, I contemplated what to order, enjoying the retro food samples on display and looking forward to being seated. I ordered the B set meal which included hamburger, pork sauté, and cream croquette. The set came with rice and potage soup, shredded cabbage, macaroni salad, and a generous serving of demi-glace sauce. The hamburger was tender and flavorful, the cream croquette was a satisfying winter treat, and the pork sauté was deliciously seasoned. I enjoyed the meal with the homemade dressing on the cabbage, savoring the demi-glace sauce on the hamburger and croquette, and relishing the perfect pairing of the sauce with the pork sauté. The restaurant had a good turnover of customers, and I had a delightful lunch at this long-established Western-style restaurant in Karasuma.

Today's order:
- Set B meal for 1270 yen
The pork sauté was tender with just the right amount of fat and very tasty. It came with a teriyaki-style sweet sauce. The hamburger was a bit too soft for my liking, I prefer a firmer type. The cream croquette was delicious, it had that authentic Western restaurant taste. During lunchtime, most customers seem to order the daily special, but the service is a bit slow. Also, the cleanliness of the restaurant could be improved. The soup was served at the same time, and although it was tasty, it felt a bit salty.

I arrived at 11:45 and was the 4th person in line at this Western-style restaurant that only serves 10 people per seating. They opened a little after 12:05, seems like they operate at their own pace. The staff took our orders after everyone was seated. I was originally going to order the daily special (hamburger and fried fish), but the first two people ordered the A set, followed by the B set, so I ended up getting the B set for 1270 yen. From behind a frosted glass partition, I could see the owner preparing the dishes quickly. First, they brought out a potage soup, then a plate with a fluffy hamburger, a large pork sauté, a creamy croquette, and a generous portion of cabbage. It was truly amazing!
