First stop for food exploration in Mino, seafood izakaya "Morinomiya Robata Iroiro". Located about a 3-minute walk south-southeast from JR Morinomiya Station, the restaurant is nestled in a corner at a crossroads in a small alley. Ordered the "Salmon Ikura Oyakodon". The lunch menu alone offers 16 varieties, which is impressive.
- Food & Taste: 3.3
The "Salmon Ikura Oyakodon" comes with side dishes, salad, miso soup, and pickles. The bowl is moderately sized, with a decent portion of salmon. The slices are thick, providing a satisfying feel. Some parts of the salmon had a slight firmness, so the freshness was uncertain. The soy sauce is on the salty side, and I accidentally poured too much, making it a bit spicy. Having a spoon makes it very easy to eat, especially for finishing every last bit of ikura. However, the chopped seaweed was a bit difficult to eat as it stuck to the spoon and around the mouth. Overall, it's a well-rounded meal, and the salmon, a favorite, had its pros and cons. Good presentation, but slightly challenging to eat, is the impression.
- Service: 3.2
The staff provided attentive service, even rearranging the limited menu list for better visibility. Flexible and accommodating.
- Atmosphere: 3.2
Located as described, with a visible sign and appealing storefront, making it easy to find. The interior has a typical izakaya layout, spacious and comfortable. Background music is Japanese, likely recent songs. There were about 5 customers before and a few after.
- Cost Performance: 3.3
The "Salmon Ikura Oyakodon" costs 850 yen. Considering the often high prices at seafood restaurants, this set meal offers good value. With a diverse menu, it's a pleasant dining option for office workers.
- Drinks: Not available
Overall, the atmosphere suggests it's a promising restaurant. Perhaps visiting earlier would have resulted in fresher salmon.
