I revisited No Wear Man at Takakura Takatsuji in Kyoto, which I personally think is the top-level bakery in Kyoto. It was also for a White Day gift. When I arrived at the store before opening at 12 o'clock, there were already more than 10 people waiting. Although this shop is not heavily promoted on social media, those who know, know. However, they tend to sell out quickly by around 2 pm, so it's possible that the sought-after tarts and butter sandwiches are sold out shortly after opening. On this day, I purchased their specialty Galette Bretonne, as well as cookies and lemon financiers. For tarts, I chose pistachio and raspberry, and for butter sandwiches, I got sweet summer orange and cream cheese. Everything was of high quality. Some may say that with such high-quality ingredients, the result is expected, but it's truly impressive. I enjoyed a tea break with delicious tea and cookies. I may not have the luxury to indulge in such elegant activities, but there are definitely people out there who buy these products for that purpose. While their wagashi (Japanese sweets) are also good, I believe this bakery offers satisfying treats in every bite. If you like baked goods, I recommend visiting this shop. Enjoy!

A specialty bakery located southeast of the Kyoto city center, near the Shijo-Karasuma Station. Their lineup mainly consists of tarts, cakes, and cookies. The concept is to enjoy Western sweets with poetry, and each purchase comes with a unique poetry card created by the owner-patissier. - Basque Cake \550 (tax included): Almond cream inside a crispy cookie crust, with a fragrant and buttery surface. The almond cream is delicate and elegant, not too rich but has a lovely flavor. - Apricot and Orange Tart \550 (tax included): A crumbly cookie crust topped with apricot and orange, offering a gentle yet flavorful experience. - Pistachio and Raspberry Tart \550 (tax included): Pistachio cream inside with fresh raspberries on top. The raspberries are tangy and sweet, while the pistachio has a subtle and pleasant taste. - Nante Cake \380 (tax included): Made with cake batter and rum, the rum flavor is subtle and complements the icing and eggy aroma perfectly. Soft and moist with a simple yet well-balanced taste. - Mojito Cake \560 (tax included): A refreshing combination of mint, lime, and rum. The flavors blend harmoniously, with the mint and rum coming through subtly before the lime shines through. The icing does not overpower the flavors, making it a fantastic treat. - Financier \260 (tax included): A delicious financier with a rich buttery and almond flavor, a hint of egg for depth, and a satisfying texture that is both crispy and moist. - Breton Salt and Vanilla Pound Cake \450 (tax included): A pound cake with a delicate balance of butter, egg, and a hint of vanilla, enhanced by a subtle touch of salt. Simple yet profound, offering a depth of flavor. - Brown Sugar Pound Cake \480 (tax included): Similar to the Breton Pound Cake but with the addition of brown sugar, which adds a unique depth of flavor without overpowering. A delightful twist on a classic. - N Sandwich (refrigerated) \350 (tax included): A sandwich made with sablé cookies and white chocolate cream, with a hint of rum and a perfect amount of cream. The pound cakes and financiers were particularly delicious and memorable, standing out among the various sweets. In a world of vibrant desserts, these unassuming baked goods truly shine and are a rare find.

I went to a place where there was always a long line, so I was curious. I saw on Instagram that they were selling orange butter sandwiches that day, but I arrived too late and missed out. They had various baked goods, and the financiers were especially delicious! They were moist and not dry at all. Thank you for the meal!

I revisited the Gâteau Nanterre because it was delicious last time. Luckily, they had just baked Financier (260 yen) when I arrived. It had a nice aroma, crispy on the outside, moist inside, and a rich buttery flavor. It's definitely one of the best Financiers I've ever had.

"Nowhereman" on Takatsuji Street in Shijo-Karasuma is a popular bakery known for its delicious baked goods. The shop has a lovely exterior with glass windows and inside, you'll find a variety of tempting baked treats. The owner expresses a poetic world through their Western-style sweets, with a focus on traditional French pastries. The "Butter Sand" available only on Sundays is a crowd favorite. I purchased the Gâteau Nanterre (380 yen). It has a simple and rustic appearance, with a soft and finely textured dough, gentle sweetness from the icing, and a subtle hint of rum. It was incredibly delicious and I left feeling very satisfied.

The freshly baked financiers, lemon madeleines, chocolate cakes, and galettes are incredibly delicious with their ingredients, flavors, and baking perfection. I loved the financiers and chocolate cakes so much that I went to buy them two days in a row. The financiers had a crispy exterior, a moist interior, and a strong vanilla bean flavor, which I adore. The chocolate cake had a delightful chewiness, a cocoa aroma, and a moist texture with the addition of dried figs. If they have freshly baked items available when you visit, the staff will let you know! I will definitely go back to buy more.

Although it's a regular sponge cake, the surface is crispy and crunchy - a texture that can only be described as "crispy." Personally, I find it a bit ambiguous whether it's a bakery or a patisserie... The desserts you typically find in a patisserie seem to be truly unavailable rather than sold out... Maybe we should just call it a "(Western-style) confectionery workshop." I thought Basque cheesecake was only available in cafes, haha.

When I arrived at the shop I had been wanting to visit in Kyoto, there were about 3 people waiting outside. It was around 1 pm on a weekday. The inside was small and each group was seated separately. I tried the pistachio tart for 550 yen and two financiers for 260 yen each. I bought the financiers fresh and warmed them up in a toaster oven. They were so delicious! I really mean it, they were delicious. I would like to try the pound cake that wasn't sold out on that day.

I have been using this shop repeatedly since before the 2022-08 visit, but I visited after a long time. If you visit early after opening, there is only a small line. ● Butter Sandwich: Coffee ✖️ Chocolate ● N Sand ● Financier ● Pistachio Pound Cake ● Whole Wheat Sablé, I bought various items as usual. ● Butter Sandwich: Coffee ✖️ Chocolate... This is a butter sandwich sold only on Sundays. New items are regularly introduced. "Coffee buttercream sandwiched with salt vanilla sablé, with a bitter chocolate cream (ganache) hidden in the center. The coffee buttercream is made without using essences or flavorings commonly used in sweets, using syrup made from strongly extracted coffee. It is a cream that naturally smells of coffee. The chocolate cream in the center is a bitter cream made by combining 70% and 55% cocoa chocolate." ... and there is an appropriate explanation. The moment you put it in your mouth, a moderate coffee aroma spreads in your mouth. There is no bitterness. The chocolate cream in the center also has a bitter taste that does not detract from the coffee flavor, with a moderate sweetness. While bringing out the taste and flavor of the ingredients, they are combined without interfering with each other. I have occasionally had butter sandwiches before, but I think this butter sandwich is a wonderful dish. I will omit the other items as I have written about them before, but it can be said that all the sweets in general have ① the taste of ingredients such as butter brought out and are rich in flavor, and ② each flavor is well combined without fighting. The staff always provide polite explanations while serving customers. I feel that this shop run by Mr. Nagano is evolving more and more. I look forward to it even more in the future.

Patisserie Nowhereman is located a 5-7 minute walk from Shijo Station. It is a popular Western-style confectionery shop known for its buttery baked goods. Favorites include financiers and cookies, which are long-lasting sweets. The shop has a cozy and homely atmosphere, and it seems they don't bake a large quantity of confectionery, so it's best to visit early to have a good selection. I purchased the popular N Sablé and financiers this time. The rich sweetness and the crispy, fluffy texture were impressive, making it a luxurious sweet treat that pairs well with drinks. The buttery aroma lingers in your mouth, providing a very satisfying and indulgent dessert experience! If you're looking for Western-style sweets in the Kyoto area, be sure to visit. Thank you for the delicious treat!

I recently visited the restaurant after a short break, but I have been a repeat customer for a while. I purchased the following items: Pistachio Financier, Maple Financier, and Whole Wheat Sablé. The Pistachio Financier is a seasonal flavor and it is moist with a subtle taste, not greasy at all. The pistachio flavor is excellent and pairs well with the texture. The Maple Financier is also moist with a perfect balance of maple flavor. The Whole Wheat Sablé is a classic item with a nice crunch and a subtle wheat flavor. All of them are incredibly delicious and a must-try. Whenever I have these baked goods from this shop, I hesitate to buy from other shops. I will continue to be a regular customer in the future.

After leaving Ann Drop In and heading back to the hotel, I noticed that Nowhere Man was nearby. There was still about 30 minutes until they opened, so I decided to wait on the bench outside the shop. I was the first one there that day, but about 15 minutes before opening, a few more people started lining up. I was able to buy two of each of the four types of snacks, which can be carried at room temperature and last a few days. The white chocolate and tea scones had a dense texture and a subtle sweetness, with a strong tea aroma that was not quite to my taste, but the other three items were perfect for me. Personally, I loved the pound cake, while my daughter preferred the plain financier. Whether you go before or after opening, there will be some waiting time, but I believe it's worth it for the quality of the items (even though they are a bit pricey). I look forward to visiting again. Thank you for the delicious treats!

The store opened at 12 o'clock, and when I arrived at 12:30, there was already a line. They let in a few groups at a time. The interior was filled with cute baked goods. Since there were people waiting, I had to make a quick decision. I bought a beautiful layered tart and banana bread. The sizes were on the smaller side, so the cost performance might be a bit iffy. But the taste was definitely delicious.

After enjoying a delicious lunch at "Zezekan Potchiri," I went to watch a movie for the first time in a while! I left the movie theater at 4:45 PM! Since I was already in Shijo, I decided to head to my favorite shop, "Nowhereman." But before that, I checked the shop's Twitter! It's great that Nowhereman notifies about sold-out items on Twitter, so I don't waste my time unnecessarily! The notification for sold-out items was not there yet, so I quickly walked about 1.4 kilometers from the movie theater to the shop! I arrived at the shop at 5:05 PM! Most items in the showcase were sold out, but the staff mentioned that they still had one "N Sandwich" left! I also picked a specialty item from the remaining baked goods that can last for a while! The items I purchased were: N Sandwich x2 for 330 yen each, and Galette Bretonne (2 pieces) for 560 yen. The N Sandwich is a refrigerated item that can last for one week in the fridge and an additional week if frozen. The white chocolate cream in the sandwich had a hint of rum flavor and was delicious! The Galette Bretonne, a specialty of Nowhereman, had a rich buttery taste and was as delicious as always! Despite visiting later than usual, I managed to purchase the items just in time, thanks to "manbou" measures. It seems like the impact of COVID-19 is affecting food establishments, but I hope they can overcome this difficult situation. Thank you for the meal!

Last time, I arrived 30 minutes early on Wednesday and was the 7th person in line, so today I arrived 30 minutes early again and I was the first one there (laughs). It's cold in Kyoto, so I started off slow. Lately, I have been buying only the Galette Bretonne at the affiliated BY10, so I visited NOWHEREMAN today aiming for the Wednesday limited edition Carrot Cake that started in the fall. [Carrot Cake] ¥500 ⭐︎5.0 The spices are gentle and just right. The texture of the cake is quite moist, and you can occasionally feel the texture of chunks of carrots, but it's mostly grated. There are no raisins and only a very small amount of walnuts. The cake is incredibly smooth and melts in your mouth, allowing you to fully enjoy it. It is topped with a sweet frosting, which I like. [Gâteau Nantais] ¥380 ⭐︎5.0 A baked confection that I fell in love with before. The rich aroma of rum is soothing to me. The silky smooth texture melts in your mouth. [Freshly Baked Financier] ¥250 ⭐︎4.8 The outside is chewy, but the inside has a silky smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture. It's on a different level. [Gâteau Basque] ¥500 ⭐︎3.6 It was mentioned that it has a strong rum flavor, but I wished it had a bit more. I also wanted the outer dough to be a bit more crispy. I ate half of it later that evening, and it was so delicious. I realized that the almond cream inside and the texture of the top and bottom dough were perfect. The rum flavor was just right too. [Galette Bretonne] 2 pieces for ¥560 ⭐︎5.0 This is my favorite Bretonne that I always buy. I have bought it many times at BY10, and it was the pastry I ate the most last year.

It was a wonderful shop! As others have mentioned, there is no bad choice among the sablés. Whether it's the whole wheat or the N sablé, they all have a good crunch and texture. It seems like they use a lot of eggs in the ingredients, but the sablés are not too heavy. Even for someone like me who gets indigestion easily, I couldn't resist trying one after another. I definitely want to come back to this shop again!

I revisited this place because I had a delicious meal there before. I bought two N sandwiches but didn't take any photos. The N sandwiches are delicious. I want to eat them again. The financiers I bought for 250 yen were delicious when I ate them in the park right after purchasing them. The scones for 380 yen had a crispy texture and were enjoyable. The carrot cake for 500 yen, available only on Wednesdays, had a long line when I arrived a little before opening, but it was worth the wait. The tea-flavored brioche for 650 yen was delicious, with lots of almonds and a crumbly texture that I loved. I also enjoyed the walnut and maple cookies for 650 yen, which had a sweet maple flavor and a thick, satisfying texture.
