I heard that there is a delicious restaurant in Hakata, so I visited during my business trip. This time, I had the crab and eel course! I started with a toast with sparkling sake. I had the Nana Ken Sparkling Yam No Kasumi (360ml) for 3000 yen. Sparkling sake is often sweet, but this one was not too sweet and refreshing, which paired well with the dishes. It's rare to find a restaurant that serves sparkling sake, so I was really excited. -Appetizer- It was a platter of 5 different dishes: - Wagyu beef stew with a firm texture and rich flavor. - White sweet potato from Kagoshima, a unique dish called Marunaka. It was slightly sweet with a creamy texture, very delicious. - Squid pickled in salt, not too salty, with a gentle and elegant taste. - Squid shinjo with wasabi on top, adding a nice kick to the fluffy texture of the shinjo. - Cream cheese and Iburi Gakko sandwiched in a crispy shell, a great combination. -Crab Shell Platter- Layers of crab miso, tomato, anchovy cabbage, and snow crab meat, topped with a jellied vinegar sauce and colorful sea water pearls. The presentation was impressive and the flavors were new and delicious. Mixing it all together, the crab meat was plentiful and full of flavor, with a refreshing taste from the vinegar jelly. The sea water pearls added a nice texture, and the crab miso was the star of the dish. -Grilled Dish- Smoked white grilled eel topped with shishito pepper. The aroma of the smoke was amazing, lingering until the end. The eel was tender, with crispy skin, perfectly cooked. It was served with pink salt and wasabi, which complemented the eel's delicate flavor. -Crab Rice Bowl- This was the highlight. A bowl of crab and salmon roe, with delicious seasoning and a generous amount of ingredients. The rice was cooked perfectly, with a slightly firm texture. -Steamed Dish- A chawanmushi with crab meat, and a gentle dashi broth that was delicious. -Side Dish- Crab gratin with spinach, lots of crab in a creamy sauce, topped with crispy breadcrumbs. The Western dish was well-seasoned and surprisingly good. -Eel Rice Bowl- As with the grilled eel, the eel in this dish was cooked perfectly. The eel was tender, the skin crispy, and the sauce soaked in well. The rice was carefully cooked, and extra sauce was provided for those who wanted more. The sauce itself was excellent. -Pickles- Cute and unique pickled vegetables in a gourd-shaped container. -Miso Soup- Miso soup with watercress and seaweed, comforting and warm. -Dessert- Apple compote with jelly on top, a light and refreshing way to end the meal. Every dish was outstanding, with a mix of traditional and modern elements, using high-quality ingredients. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were delicious. I had a very elegant dining experience.
