Motsuyaki Norichan (Fukushima, Osaka) The meeting that was supposed to start at 9:30 actually started at 10:50, and it ended at 13:15. It was raining all morning, so I didn't get to walk much for my morning exercise. By 13:15, it was still raining quite a bit. I grabbed my umbrella and left the office. There are a few places around the office that I haven't visited yet. However, after 13:00, some places might have already finished their lunch service. I decided to try a place I recently found near Jyosei Bridge intersection. It was a bar on the second floor, and the owner was alone behind the counter. I ordered the "Pork Belly Bowl" for 500 yen. The owner sliced the meat, grilled it carefully, placed it on top of rice, and served it. The portion was a bit small for 500 yen, but the dish was cooked with great care. The pork belly was tender and well-seasoned, and it went perfectly with the rice. The soup on the side, which looked like a plain miso soup, actually had pieces of meat inside, making it delicious. I was impressed by the food and would recommend getting extra meat and rice for those who want a heartier meal. I complimented the owner before leaving, and I look forward to trying more items on the menu in the future.

Located in the gourmet battleground of Osaka Fukushima Ward, this hideaway "motsu-yaki" restaurant exudes a cozy and secretive atmosphere. It operates as a sublease within the wine stand "Paprika." Their proud motsu-yaki dishes are big and delicious, priced at only 200 yen per skewer. Since they operate within a wine stand, they also offer a variety of alcoholic beverages beyond what's listed on the menu. We tried motsu-yaki skewers (each 200 yen) such as harami, tan, jow tan, tanmoto, torohatsu, hatsumoto, and liver. During lunchtime, you can enjoy set meals and rice bowls starting from just 500 yen! This place seems suitable for various occasions, whether it's a quick lunch, a casual drink and meal, or a satisfying finale to the night.

I visited "Motsuyaki No RIchann Paprika Store" during my lunch break from work. It is located a little south of the ground exit of Hankyu Fukushima Station, up an indoor staircase in a small alley. To give you an idea of the location, it is just a 10-second walk from "MoRiSaN" shop. I ordered the "Yakiton Teishoku" set. Unfortunately, the "Pork Belly Bowl" that I was looking forward to was sold out, but I was still very satisfied.
Food & Taste: 3.8
The "Yakiton Teishoku" set includes 3 pork skewers, simmered motsu (offal), and white rice. I'm not sure which part of the pork skewers it was, but it paired very well with the white rice. The light salt seasoning brought out the flavors of the ingredients. It was not too oily, and the texture was soft and easy to eat. The soup looked like miso soup at first, but it turned out to be motsu soup. It contained large pieces of pork offal and daikon radish, and the miso-based broth was delicious. It went really well with the white rice.
Service: 3.3
The owner was running the lunch service alone. Despite being busy with cooking and serving, they had a pleasant demeanor and provided clear answers to my questions about the food.
Atmosphere: 3.2
As mentioned before, the location is like a hidden gem in Osaka Fukushima. The interior is spacious with a mix of a bar and an izakaya vibe. There was a hint of smoke in the air, possibly due to the cooking style, and the warm lighting made it a bit challenging for photography. The background music consisted only of songs by Mr.Children. There were about 7 customers when I arrived and only 1 customer after me.
Cost Performance: 3.8
The "Yakiton Teishoku" set was priced at 500 yen. While it lacked vegetables (except for a small amount in the simmered motsu), the set was still a great value. The 3 skewers alone would probably cost around 500 yen at an izakaya, but here you also get a generous portion of white rice and high-quality simmered motsu. Great value for money.
Drink: Not available
Overall, it was a surprising lunch experience. The food was tastier than expected, the price was very affordable, and the simmered motsu was exceptional. I would be delighted if they offered a winter-only simmered motsu set. That's how good the motsu was.
