Katsuratei has three stores in this area, and I have been to the ones on both sides a few times, but this one in the middle was my first visit. The menus at all three places seem to be similar. On this day, I had the "simmered fish set meal." I'm not very familiar with fish, so I'm not sure what kind of fish it was, but it had a good flavor. The meal was delicious, and I enjoyed it. Rice refills seemed to be free at all three places, but here, there was no egg or seaweed. I think one of the sides came with the meal at the other two places, but I don't really mind. If I feel like having simmered fish again, I will definitely visit again.

Before the party guests arrived, I had a little sushi and beer for a light snack. Delicious!

I had the pork cutlet set meal. It was 710 yen and reasonably priced. You can have free refills of miso soup and rice. Non-smoking hours are from 12:00 to 13:00, which is appreciated.

Due to being very busy, I hadn't attended an external meeting for a few months, but I decided to go with my subordinate this time. We were unsure where to have lunch before the meeting, when we noticed a restaurant called Katsura-tei in Minami Senba. The restaurant had a separate building across the walkway, with similar set meals displayed outside. We checked the daily special menu and went inside. After looking at the menu, I hesitated a bit, but I stuck to my initial decision and ordered the daily set meal. Today's special was beef cutlet. While in a Japanese-style pub, it should technically be called "gyukatsu" (beef cutlet), as pork and chicken cutlets are referred to as "rosukatsu" and "chikinkatsu" respectively. It's inconsistent for a restaurant to list both "beef cutlet" and "tonkatsu" together. In English, one should stick to English terms, and in Japanese, one should use Japanese terms consistently. The meal included egg over rice, where the egg was mixed and poured over the rice to evenly coat it in a golden color, and a crispy beef cutlet. In the Kansai region, beef is considered more luxurious and familiar than pork. The sauce drizzled on top was just right and complemented the set meal well. It was a delicious meal.

A shop located on the basement floor of Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Line. It's a typical set meal restaurant with a variety of Japanese-style dishes. The shop is run by elderly ladies. I ordered the oyakodon set meal, which comes with oyakodon, cold udon, and a side dish. You can choose between udon, soba, cold, or hot. The oyakodon was okay, not particularly amazing or lacking in any way. The udon was better than expected. There's nothing outstanding, but these kind of casual set meal restaurants give a comforting feeling. Thank you for the meal.

The 3rd exit of Shinsaibashi station, right next to the entrance of Katsura-tei Minami Semba Honten, there is a Japanese restaurant with eye-catching 3D menu displays. It seems to be quite popular during lunchtime as customers keep coming in one after another. The interior of the restaurant doesn't feel like a basement at all, and the spaciousness is surprising. There is even a counter with a water tank, and they serve fugu dishes as well. My companion had the Tonkatsu Oroshi Teishoku, while I had the Kaki Fry Teishoku. Despite the crowd, our food came out quite quickly. The taste and portion size were both satisfying. I shouldn't have underestimated Katsura-tei. I'm sorry. I would like to try the main store next time, as the menu seems to be slightly different. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Shinsaibashi, I often passed by this restaurant where it was always bustling with businessmen on their way home from work. Although there are many trendy shops around, I was drawn to the classic atmosphere of this izakaya and decided to visit with my girlfriends. We started early in the evening, but there were already several groups of people having their parties. The age range of both the staff and customers was quite high, which made us feel very comfortable. The menu was very traditional with no fancy items targeted towards younger people, but it had a wide variety of izakaya dishes. The food arrived quickly after ordering. We ate and drank to our heart's content, and the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back again.

Mainly used for lunch. It's great when you're in a hurry but want to choose what to eat. They offer over 10 lunch menu options with a focus on Japanese food, and it's usually served within 5 minutes of ordering. The portions are large, so women may end up leaving some uneaten. They don't provide wet towels, but I wish they did. Wet towels are provided in the evening. It's conveniently located near the station and is almost always full. Although there doesn't seem to be a shortage of staff, it can be difficult to get their attention. Don't expect great service, but they have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages at affordable prices, which is nice.
