Title: "Youth 18 Ticket to Osaka in March 2023, Morning Soft-boiled Egg Gyudon"
It's the last day of the 3-day spring youth 18 ticket trip to Osaka. Originally, I was planning to take an early morning train to Okazaki, but due to a slight hangover and some errands, I decided to stay in Osaka until noon. I went to Matsuya, located near Hanazonocho Station, which is close to the budget hotel I always stay at. I decided to use the JAF coupon for free fresh vegetables. I arrived at the restaurant at 9:02 am on Sunday, with about 7 customers already there and 2 staff members. I ordered the Soft-boiled Egg Rice Breakfast, Rice (extra portion), and Mini Beef Plate for 290 yen. The free fresh vegetables with the JAF coupon (130 yen) were also included.
After a 13-minute wait, the food arrived! It took a while, probably because it was crowded. I would rate it 10 out of 10. Here is my assessment:
Rice: 6 points
I appreciated the extra portion, but it was a bit hard. Maybe it was because of my slight hangover, but I didn't find it very tasty.
Miso Soup: 8 points
It was a red miso-based soup with a blend of two types of dashi, as mentioned in a poster inside the restaurant. I thought it was delicious before reading about it, and even more so after (laughs).
Soft-boiled Egg: 7 points
The soft-boiled egg was slightly hard. I poured barbecue sauce over it and enjoyed it more as I ate.
Mini Beef Plate: 7 points
It was nice to have beef for 290 yen, but the meat was a bit tough and dry. Since Matsuya's meat tends to be mild in flavor, I added sweet sauce later on.
Coupon Fresh Vegetables (130 yen free): 9 points
Includes shredded cabbage, sliced cucumber, purple cabbage, lettuce, carrot, corn, etc. There was a high ratio of shredded cabbage. I enjoyed it with two types of dressing.
Overall Rating: 7 points
For 420 yen in the morning, I was able to fill up properly. It was a bit difficult to finish due to my slight hangover. While the dishes may lack uniqueness and be somewhat standardized, it depends on the eater's condition and imagination to enjoy them more.
- Afterward -
Continuing with errands in the Minami area, I took the 13:00 train from JR Namba Station. However, there are too few trains at JR Namba! Waiting for 16 minutes was a bit frustrating! I looked around and found a McDonald's! I decided to go there. (March 12, 2023)
