I had been interested in the golden pork (kogane ton) from Date City for over 20 years, and finally discovered it on my way. I looked up the restaurant that serves it and found Kodama-san, so I decided to visit. As soon as I entered, I felt a sense of unease, but when I looked at the menu, I realized that this was the same restaurant that was featured on TV last year for their golden pork hamburger. However, in order to taste the golden pork, I ordered the tonkatsu. First, a salad and small side dishes were served, with a mention of their special dressing, but the salad was lukewarm (haha). With a sense of apprehension, the tonkatsu arrived on a hot iron plate. When I tried a piece with some fat, it was delicious! The meat quality was really good. The portion of rice and miso soup was quite generous as well. I just wish they could have showcased the branded pork a bit more.

I visited around 12 o'clock on a regular day. It was not crowded. There are not many lunch menu options. I ordered the hamburger lunch set. First, I was served a few small side dishes including salad. Then came the hamburger. They asked if I wanted a large portion of rice, which I declined. It was simply delicious.

Recently, I have been working a lot in Date City and it seems like it will be ending soon. For lunch, I headed to a restaurant that I had been curious about since coming to Date. The exterior had a drive-in feel, but the interior was a mix of a cafeteria, a cafe, and a restaurant. There were fish tanks with goldfish and killifish at the entrance, which was a bit surprising. I ordered the Golden Pork Hamburger that caught my eye on the sign outside, which was the daily special for 880 yen. The meal started with a salad and side dishes, followed by the sizzling appearance of the hamburger on a hot plate. Then came a large bowl of rice and miso soup. The taste was quite ordinary, without any special feeling. The hamburger was solid and the service was good, with a boiled egg brought to me at the end as a bonus. It tasted like a regular boiled egg, and I noticed they were selling them for 260 yen for 2 at the register on my way out. Overall, the meal was average, but the service was good. I'm not sure if I would go back again!

Restaurant along Route 37 in Date City. The big sign caught my eye every time I passed by on the highway, so I decided to stop by for dinner during a business trip to Muroran. There is a spacious parking space in front of the building. Inside the restaurant, there are table seats and sunken kotatsu-style seats, with a spiral staircase in the center leading to the second floor, giving it a mysterious and unique layout. The menu includes hamburgers, fried foods, curry, yakisoba, and more. Feeling very hungry, I ordered the "Special Set Meal (1,280 yen)" which came with a 200g demi-glace hamburger, shrimp fry, and fried chicken. I was the only customer there, and it took a bit of time for the food to be served. The hamburger, though I didn't confirm if it was made with Date's golden pork, had a soft texture and a homely taste. The shrimp fry and fried chicken were average, but the vegetable salad they served as a side dish was delicious, allowing me to truly appreciate the taste of Date vegetables. The miso soup in the set meal also had plenty of vegetables and was tasty, making me wish for more menu options with lots of vegetables. If I have the chance, I would like to try their curry next time.

I came to Date Michi no Eki to get a stamp and ended up buying a lot of vegetables. Now, where should I have lunch? After searching, I decided to eat here. I chose the "Juicy Tonburg Set Meal" which uses the famous Date "Golden Pork". It comes in a large size (300g) for 980 yen including tax. First, a salad, sauce, and namul were served. The dressing on the salad goes well with the vegetables and is quite delicious! A bit later, the Tonburg and rice arrived. Under the Tonburg is bean sprouts, and on top of the Tonburg is a fried egg. The side vegetables include onions, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, and bell peppers, making it a luxurious meal. The pork Tonburg is indeed juicy, but slightly firm. My companion had the "Golden Pork Tonburg Curry" for 842 yen including tax. Again, a salad and namul were served first. The curry, filled with grated vegetables, has a chunky texture with carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, and bell peppers. It is a healthy curry with plenty of vegetables, gentle enough for children to enjoy as it is not spicy or heavily spiced. Both dishes were delicious. Thank you, Kodama restaurant!

It's been about 20 years since I used to make stone saunas... or maybe even longer? There has been a change in ownership, and now it's run by the owner's son. The "Marugoto Date Vegetables Curry" served in a stone pot is quite tasty, but be careful as it tends to splatter! The portion of rice is generous and filling. The restaurant only has ceiling air conditioning, so it can get chilly at floor level. I recommend visiting during the summer. I wonder if customers are flocking to Gyoza-bo or Menya Ga, as a result. The "Marugoto Date Vegetables Curry" costs 1058 yen. Thank you for the meal!

I went there only once, and I ordered a grilled fish set meal. It was microwaved and served.

【Large Portion】The double chicken curry at Mt. Usu in Datemon Restaurant Kodama was a challenge for big eaters. The chicken was defeated by the 2018-04-13 21:23:51 theme: big eaters and large portions. It's not that the chicken lost, but rather I lost to myself. I received information from a special correspondent that a large menu had been created, so I decided to visit. Datemon Restaurant along Route 37 in Date City, Hokkaido, is a precious restaurant where you can eat golden pork. The sign features a famous image of a chef chasing after a pig. They have a lunch menu with a large chicken cutlet curry. Oh, they also have their famous scallop rice set with soba noodles! This place is known for their delicious vegetables and is a veggie-first recommended restaurant. I tried some homemade pickled herring, Date-grown spinach, and pickles as a service from the owner. The pickled herring was delicious! Here it is - the Mt. Usu double chicken curry with all the toppings for 1660 yen including tax. The rice is a jumbo 600g serving, with thick chicken cutlets made from two chicken thighs. The toppings include a soft-boiled egg, bacon, and cheese. The curry is meticulously cooked with sautéed onions and apples. Truly professional work! And these chicken cutlets are fierce. Thick and hot - and there are two of them! The carrots are also huge! Impossible! I had to leave a quarter behind and take it home with me. I was defeated by the chicken! See, the chicken cutlets are thick, right? They are fried to a crisp and the oil is well-drained. It's a curry that won't give you heartburn. I heard there are brave souls who have finished this curry and a 1L cream soda. The cherry on top is small. If you consider yourself a big eater, make sure to head to Datemon Restaurant for lunch! It weighs nearly 2.5 kilograms in total. But the curry is delicious, so if you go on an empty stomach, you might be able to finish it. Burp~ (^O^)

I ordered the Juicy Hamburg Steak Set meal for 880 yen during the waiting time for my outside sales. The meat was incredibly juicy and tender, just as the name suggests. When mixed with the half-cooked egg and sauce, it was very juicy. The miso soup with green onions as a side dish was surprisingly sweet and delicious. The restaurant seemed to be renovated from some other facility, but the atmosphere was quite nice.

Hmm, I wonder if this is quite a long-established restaurant? I feel like I've seen the sign for a while, but I visited for the first time during the day the other day, a drive-in along the national highway with a sign for a restaurant and meal shop - "Kodama"~☆ They seem to specialize in local pork dishes and scallop rice, so for my first visit... Taste boasting!! Scallop rice and soba set starting from 750 yen~☆ The slightly burnt scallop rice is delicious, and the soba with scallops in a slightly sweet broth is also quite tasty! d( ̄◇ ̄)b グッ♪

This is a restaurant located in Date City, along Route 36 towards Muroran. There is a large orange sign with the restaurant name, making it easy to spot. The exterior features a character wearing a chef's outfit, giving off a strong impression. It's puzzling that despite being a restaurant, they also have a rock bath facility. It's rare for people to go into a rock bath at a drive-in, so it's a bit confusing why it's there. The food itself was neither delicious nor bad, just average. The prices are relatively cheap, so it's decent for what you pay. Despite not having many customers, the food took longer to come out than expected, reflecting the reality of rural service industries. It's a good option when you want to eat on a budget and get full.

In Date City, there is a restaurant along Route 37, but there is a bit of a surprise when you see the exterior and then step inside. The exterior has a nice roadside drive-in feel, but once you enter the restaurant, you may wonder what kind of place it is. Inside, in addition to the restaurant, they also offer bedrock bathing and sell health foods, making it unclear what the main focus is. The menu includes set meals, curry, ramen, and dishes featuring local "Golden Pork." When I asked for ramen, I was strongly recommended their "Dosanko Ramen," but I declined and ordered the soy sauce ramen instead. Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed was that it was lukewarm, disappointing as I was expecting piping hot ramen. The taste was not bad, but it didn't quite reach the level of being delicious. They also offer bento delivery and sell side dishes, so perhaps the restaurant is not their main focus. Despite the promising exterior, it was a bit disappointing. I didn't try other menu items, so my evaluation may be incomplete, but based on this visit, I have to give a harsh rating. -------------------------------------------------- ◆Soy Sauce Ramen \630-
