I visited the restaurant that used to be New Bourbon and had the Premium Katsu Don, but now it has changed to Charcoal-Grilled Tonkatsu. I made a reservation, but it wasn't too crowded when I arrived early. The interior of the restaurant remained the same. The menu offers various options like Brand Pork set meals, loin, rib loin, fillet, Chateaubriand, Katsu Don, Katsu Curry, and even Ebi Fry. Since it's a place I don't often visit, I decided to try the limited edition Tokachi Black Pork Rib Loin 220g, which was priced at 3800 yen. It's quite expensive, but they have options starting from around 1000 yen, so you can choose according to your budget. The tonkatsu is made with good quality pork and cooked at a low temperature, resulting in a pinkish color inside. It has a distinctively fragrant and smoky aroma from being charcoal-grilled. I enjoyed it with salt, Sichuan pepper, and soy sauce. The quality of the pork and the cooking were good, but personally, I found the batter between the pork and the meat to be a bit too hard for my liking. I prefer a lighter and crispier batter. Overall, I think I preferred the previous version, but I would still consider revisiting for the more affordable options available.

This unique restaurant, located near Tamatsukuri Station, specializes in grilling fried pork cutlets over charcoal. The owner, Okura, is highly respected for his dedication to the art of tonkatsu. He is a food enthusiast who wholeheartedly devotes himself to perfecting his tonkatsu dishes. On this particular day, they were serving pork from Tokachi, raised stress-free in a spacious environment. The pork has a low melting point, leaving behind only the delicious flavor of the fat. Sprinkling the table's provided Sansho pepper adds to the blissful dining experience.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and the food was delicious! The tonkatsu, as the name suggests, had a unique charcoal flavor that was really enjoyable. The shredded cabbage was thinly sliced and easy to eat, and the dressing was delicious. I definitely want to eat here again when I visit Tamatsukuri. I also want to try the katsudon.

The pork cutlet is well-cooked, with the breading sticking nicely to the meat. The idea of finishing with charcoal grilling after low-temperature frying is brilliant. However, the egg in the katsudon is a bit firm, preventing the perfect harmony between the cutlet, rice, and egg. I wish they would go back to the previous version for a better balance.

I went to try it out because the gourmet president recommended it. The place that used to be New Bourbon is now a charcoal-grilled tonkatsu restaurant called Daizo. I ordered the fillet set meal, and the portion was huge! I struggled to finish it all, even though I chose a smaller set meal. I wanted to try a comparison course, but it was too much food for me to handle. The tonkatsu was not greasy at all, and even someone like me who easily gets stomachaches from fatty foods was able to finish it all. Good quality meat is delicious.

I went to New Bourbon, now known as Charcoal-grilled Tonkatsu Okura. I ordered the Assorted Pork Cutlet Platter with loin, rib loin, and chateaubriand. The crispy coating of the tonkatsu, fried and then grilled over charcoal, was deliciously crunchy. The premium pork used had a perfect balance of sweetness in the fat. It was truly amazing.

Hello there. No waiting. I made a reservation and visited. It's a bit more complex than the previous New Bourbon. The menu looks like this: with salt and Sansho pepper sauce, and just salt. Plenty of cabbage. There's a faint charcoal aroma. It turns out like this. The butter suggestion is interesting. Chicken breast. Round 2 katsudon has thinner slices than thick ones. It's the type with an egg on top. Of course, you eat it vertically. Lastly, for a change in flavor. It's definitely a belly full. Thank you for the meal. Well then.

I went to the newly renovated Charcoal Tonkatsu Okura, where they serve each piece of tonkatsu very carefully cooked and it was incredibly delicious. It has been upgraded since my last visit. The charcoal aroma was gently present, and I was surprised that I couldn't feel any greasiness at all. I think it will definitely become a hit again. I would like to visit again. The service was also very polite.

I had high expectations, but it felt just average. I still think the pork at other restaurants tastes better.
