Shinjuku Ni-chome is a mysterious town. It is a high same-sex couple density town where gay and lesbian couples mingle. Men kiss men, women kiss women everywhere. You can hear words from various languages such as Japanese (Yo), English (Hi), Korean (Annyeong), Spanish (Hola), French (Salut), German (Hallo), Portuguese (Oi) just by judging from words like "hello" and "thank you". Of course, you can also hear other languages that are not easily recognizable. It is a very international town. This town is a bar district with no touts. There may be some, but I have never encountered one. Indeed, as a straight person, there is not much benefit for a bar to attract me. In fact, they might even have signs saying "no straight people allowed". There are many beautiful women in the lesbian community, but they are not interested in us. There are many handsome men in the gay community, but we are not interested in them. It's a bit disappointing. Previously, there was a street-side shop where drag queens and lesbians frequented in the back alleys, but it moved in the spring. The new shop is on the third floor of a triangular building next to the Sekaido Building. The owner is Japanese. The staff may or may not be there. There are foreign lesbians and Japanese gay customers as well. The interior of the shop has 4 counter seats and 4 table seats, totaling 8 seats. It's usually quite packed, with 2-3 empty seats. The customers are mostly foreigners. The clientele consists of a diverse range of people. The menu offers Mexican food, and it's surprisingly cheap. Beer costs 500 yen. Cocktails range from 500 yen. I'm not much of a drinker, so I'm not sure about the variety of alcohol they offer. Eating here means ordering tacos (1 piece: 300 yen, 2 pieces: 500 yen) and burritos (800 yen). They are made to order, so you can enjoy a beer while waiting. The tacos arrive first. The tortillas are soft, not hard like nachos. You can choose between beef and chicken fillings. The beef tastes like beef, and the chicken tastes like chicken. The portion for 1 piece at 300 yen is quite generous. It may not fill you up, but 2 pieces are a good amount. And they are delicious. Next is the burrito. It is a wrap with rice, lettuce, cheese, beans, and meat. This also comes in a generous portion. And it is delicious as well. I used to get takeout from the previous shop, but eating in the bar is also nice. I see a cute foreign woman, but she has a girlfriend. Too bad. And then there's an Asian guy who looks at me intently. I apologize in my mind, "Sorry, I'm straight," and leave the shop. I don't recommend going out of curiosity. However, you can get takeout and enjoy your meal in the nearby park.
