Last night, I was really hungry in the late night and craving for a hearty meal, so I thought about going to a Sukiya that I haven't been to yet. I was a bit worried because it's a secret menu item, but they said it would take some time to prepare and that was fine with me. I ordered the Mega Gyudon x2, and it arrived in about 6 minutes. It was so quick! Then I finished the King Gyudon in about 15 minutes. Still feels like I could have another one haha. Thank you for the meal! The King Gyudon goes well with a drink haha. After finishing overtime work, I was too tired to think about what to eat. I ended up at Sukiya for a late meal. The beef kalbi set looked delicious in the picture, but I was a bit disappointed when it arrived. The meat was tough, which was even more disappointing. Well, it's a fast food restaurant, so I guess it's understandable. By the time I finished eating, my jaw was starting to hurt and my energy level had dropped. However, the young male staff member's service was very pleasant, and the condiment bottles on the table were clean, so I'll give it a pass.

The service is quick, so I come here occasionally. I think the taste is average.

I had a job in Fudai Hayashi. Since my job starts at 9:30, I arrived a little early and decided to have breakfast at a nearby Sukiya restaurant. Lately, I've been sticking to coffee and bread, but I thought I'd have a traditional Japanese breakfast for a change. I ordered the mixed toppings rice set for 300 yen plus tax. It's so cheap! The set included miso soup, okra, half-cooked egg, bonito flakes, beef rice, and surprisingly no soy sauce. It really felt like a Japanese breakfast, I almost shed a tear as I enjoyed it with a smile. It's a common experience when eating out, the flavors tend to be stronger than homemade meals, maybe because of the amount of soy sauce used. [14/4/21] The previous night, I went to "Sukiya" in the early morning, but ended up eating too much, so I decided to visit this place the next night for a late-night snack. I ordered the "New Torisoboro Don (regular size)" for 260 yen plus tax. It's a size that is easy for women to eat, with chicken cooked in a sweet and savory dashi broth made from kombu and bonito flakes. The chicken soboro was indeed sweet and savory. The bowl was designed for easy mixing, with the egg placed in the center for you to mix in yourself, just like in the menu photo. I also ordered the "Tonjiru" for 170 yen plus tax. It's advertised as having more meat and being full of ingredients, but the content didn't seem to change much. Before the tax increase, it used to be 150 yen tax-included, but now it's over 30 yen more. With a mobile coupon, my total came to 434 yen. Since the tax increase in April, I've been getting a lot of annoying one-yen coins in my wallet. [14/3/1] After working on a holiday, I went to "Sukiya" on this day after my night shift. I ordered the "Yamakake Okra Gyudon (regular size)" for 410 yen. It's a healthy gyudon with roughly grated yam, okra rich in dietary fiber, and wasabi. It's a new addition, but it feels like they just added okra to the "Wasabi Yamakake Gyudon" (regular size for 380 yen) and raised the price by 30 yen. The toppings of yam, wasabi, and okra were self-serve. I added soy sauce to adjust the flavor to my liking, which worked out well. I also ordered the "Tonjiru" for 150 yen, this time as a standalone item. With a mobile coupon, my total came to 510 yen. Thank you, Sukiya, for the delicious meal. If I were to eat gyudon, I am a fan of Yoshinoya, but my friend prefers Sukiya so we have been going there more often. The reason why my friend likes Sukiya is because they have a variety of menu items, not just gyudon. I personally prefer just the gyudon, so I am a Yoshinoya fan. However, after visiting Sukiya a few times, I must say it's quite good. The abundant toppings they offer seem to be popular among customers who are not just here for the gyudon. I particularly like the negi-tama gyudon with plenty of green onions and gochujang sauce. It's a different experience from the traditional gyudon, but it's not bad at all. They also have other options like the 3-cheese gyudon, grated daikon ponzu gyudon, takana mentaiko mayo gyudon, and wasabi mountain gyudon, all of which have been around for a while but are still going strong. They also offer limited-time menu items and a variety of other dishes like curry, making it easy for customers who are not big fans of gyudon to enjoy. Even friends who wouldn't go to Yoshinoya will come along if it's Sukiya.

After finishing my personal errands in Osaka, on my way back I visited "Sukiya Tomitabayashi Kogandai Store" to buy bento for the next day. I ordered a regular beef bowl using the usual touch panel for takeout, took the ticket and went to the register. Normally, the staff would take the ticket, process the payment while handing over the beef bowl, but for some reason, the staff just stared at the kitchen without acknowledging me. However, once the beef bowl was ready and placed in a bag, the payment process went smoothly as usual. The customer service was polite and the portion of the beef bowl was generous, exceeding my expectations. The taste was the typical delicious flavor of Sukiya. Although the efficiency of the order process could be improved, the overall experience was good. If they could speed up the payment process, it would be perfect. Thank you for the meal.
