I visited a jazz cafe located underground on Showa Street in Ginza 1-chome after noon. There were no other customers or staff present, just two large speakers for live music and a lone staff member in the kitchen behind the piano. I ordered the curry for 900 yen, which I had glimpsed on Showa Street. While listening to the wonderful music, I found the walking robot dog surprisingly cute. The curry, served in a cafe-style manner with a paper napkin-wrapped spoon, was not spicy. I debated how to eat the onsen tamago (hot spring egg) served on a separate plate but ended up mixing it with the curry, vegetables, and rice. I paid in cash without touching the complimentary self-serve coffee and left after just 11 minutes.

While thinking about visiting this place, I kept putting it off. I didn't expect the underground shop to be so small. Well, it's not small. It's actually quite spacious, but the space for seats is smaller compared to the space for audio equipment and a grand piano. There was a female owner and four customers. I had a highball, a cocktail called Blue Eyes (which shares the name with the shop), gizzard, and curry. The sound quality was amazing. They were using four vacuum tube amplifiers to play the speakers in multi-channel. They played both analog records and CDs. The curry wasn't too spicy, and it wasn't Thai, Indian, Western, or café-style curry. It was surprisingly original.

Jazz Bar in Ginza. The audio system includes McIntosh MC252 power amp, McIntosh C46 control amp, and JBL4622 speaker system. They offer a Hayashi Rice set for 800 yen with free coffee refills. They also have jam sessions once a month. Found a great place! Next time, I'll bring my drumsticks! Thank you for the meal.

This is a jazz bar that offers lunch and takeout. You can get a meal with a drink for under 1,000 yen. Smoking is allowed and the place is quite small, so if you're not a fan of that, be aware. When I visited on a weekday after 12pm, there were two other groups of customers. There are only 6 tables, one of which has free coffee and another where a staff member is sitting. It's a cozy spot. I had the green curry for 800 yen, although the promised free egg was missing. However, the all-you-can-drink coffee (no takeout) and side salad made it a good deal. I enjoyed the deep atmosphere and the relatively loud jazz music playing in the background. Thank you for the meal.

Jazz café BLUE EYES is located a 3-minute walk from Toei Asakusa Line Takaramachi A1 exit, on the B1F of a building along Showa Street. I visited for lunch in early October for the first time. Upon entering the shop, you are greeted by pleasant jazz background music, creating a different world-like atmosphere. The shop has around 20 seats, but due to COVID-19 measures, every other chair is marked with tape. A single female staff member manages the shop. The lunch menu on this day featured curry rice, hashed beef rice, and char siu rice bowl. I ordered the "Char Siu Rice Bowl" (800 yen) for that day. The bowl arrived promptly, featuring five large slices of char siu with a gooey soft-boiled egg in the center and plenty of chopped seaweed on top of the rice. Breaking the egg and tasting the char siu, I was amazed by how delicious it was. The char siu was thick but tender, and the flavor of the sauce was just to my liking. I never expected to find such a tasty char siu rice bowl at a jazz café. I felt a bit reluctant to finish it because it was so delicious. After the meal, I enjoyed a self-service hot coffee to relax and then left the shop. It was a satisfying dining experience.

Lunch on June 30, 2020 (Tuesday). Lunch on the east side of Showa Street in Ginza Ichome. I happened to pass by this shop on Showa Street and noticed that there was a jazz bar here that also serves lunch. I had never planned to go there for lunch, but as I walked down the stairs leading to the underground shop, I heard music. ♪ Tall and tan and young and lovely, The girl from Ipanema goes walking, And when she passes, each one she passes goes, ah……The Voice. Smooth and Easy. Sinatra & Jobim's "The Girl from Ipanema." I was captivated. Tempted. I went down the stairs. I sat at the recommended seat and tried to listen to the second half of the song, but the female owner bombarded me with options for curry, hayashi, or char siu rice bowl. I chose curry. When "Ipanema" ended, "Fly Me to the Moon" started playing. Next was "Strangers in the Night." "Something Stupid" (a duet with Nancy). "It Was a Very Good Year." I realized they were playing Sinatra's best CD. Inside the shop, there was a piano, a vacuum tube amp, and JBL speakers. The walls were lined with record jackets of female vocalists like Julie London, Edie Gorme, Helen Merrill, Jo Stafford, Blossom Dearie, Anita O'Day, Monica Zetterlund, Nina Simone, Chris Connor, and Ann Burton. There were 24 in total. I checked to see if I had them all, but I was missing two records. I have Ann Burton and Edie Gorme, which are close to my taste, but slightly different. The crucial thing is that June Christy was missing. The curry that came out was minced meat curry, not spicy or delicious, lacking the taste of curry. There wasn't much more to say about it. Later, a group of three customers came in, and the female owner presented them with the choice of curry, hayashi, char siu rice bowl, or Thai curry. Why didn't she tell me about that too? When the group started smoking (which the shop allows), I moved to another seat after finishing the curry and drank the free coffee. The bill was 800 yen. Ultimately, it was a disappointing experience. Today, there were 54 confirmed cases in Tokyo and 132 nationwide.

I posted a lunch review near my company after a long time. Lunch at a jazz cafe. For lunch, you can get curry rice, hashed beef rice, or pork bowl with self-service coffee for 800 yen. The pork bowl had thick but tender slices of pork, with four large pieces. The soft-boiled egg and seaweed on top of the rice added a nice touch. It was very filling. The pork alone was delicious and worth it. Being a jazz cafe, the music from the large, good-quality speakers was very pleasant. It was my first time here, but I definitely want to come back at night.

I visited the place before 8 pm on a weekday because it was featured in the book "Tokyo Jazz Map." The atmosphere was lively with a solo female bartender engaging in jazz conversations. The large JBL speakers with vacuum tubes provided an authentic jazz experience with great sound quality. However, it can get quite hot in the summer due to the size of the venue. The hot Darjeeling tea was delicious and had a nice sweetness to it. They also have live music on certain days. I highly recommend this place for a genuine jazz experience with excellent sound quality. Check out the blog for more details: https://blog.goo.ne.jp/good-tasty/e/f7ed672b96b43921fc98b77c6402ae1a

A cozy underground space with a black-themed interior. LP jacket of a female vocal on the front wall, below it is a JBL4343 speaker. The coffee costs 700 yen, now it's 50 yen more. Menu with photos includes today's Thai curry for 500 yen and spinach curry for 600 yen. The portion of the curry set with rice and salad is not satisfying, extra portion for 100 yen. Today's 500 yen lunch at "橙" was either a hearty curry or a hearty mapo tofu. I gave up after seeing the line inside. Moved to "BLUE EYES" for coffee, enjoying Tilo Brenner's trumpet music. The Thai curry has a delicate taste with a hint of sweetness and spices. The coconut milk adds a mysterious flavor. I also felt like trying the red curry at "JAZZ OLYMPUS". Located in the basement of the building next to BLUE EYESHIPS. Overall rating: ★★★★ Food & taste: ★★★☆ Service: ★★★☆ Atmosphere: ★★★★

Located along Showa Street, is this a jazz bar? The lunch menu offers cream stew, hashed beef rice, spinach curry, and daily Thai curry. I'm curious about the stew, but since it's Friday, I'll go with the curry. Finally, the curry arrives with a small amount of lettuce and a mediocre macaroni salad on the side. It's spicy for me. Rice after a long time. Is it too dramatic to say it's been a month? At least I haven't had it for three weeks. But, I don't have time to finish it. I'm sorry.

[July 18, 2012 18:46] Once in a while, I decided to listen to some jazz music~♪ This place is in Ginza! It's 6:30 pm. I walked down the stairs of a building facing Showa Street and entered inside. I informed them of my reservation and was guided to my seat, which was a bit cramped right under the stairs... (゜o゜) There were two couples and a solo man and woman as other guests. There were other empty seats, but oh well... (^_^;) I started with a beer toast~☆ For snacks, I asked the lady for garlic toast, and she recommended trying the curry bread if I was hungry. Looking at the photo, it seemed to be a combination of crispy French bread and curry... So I went with that. What came out was not French bread, but something like a thin baked naan... (?_?) Oh well... (^_^;) When I asked if I could take a photo, she said sure and started arranging the naan-like dish neatly... (^^ゞ She's quite the character, that lady~ lol Now, as for the taste... The hot naan-like dish was moist and tasted delicious with the spinach curry. Maybe I should have listened to the lady after all... lol Next, she recommended the "tortilla," a crispy thin bread topped with vegetables, meat, and eggs, folded in half with a tangy sauce. This was also delicious! (^ . ^) It went well with the slightly spicy red wine I ordered after the beer. The live music was set to start at 7:30, so a bit before that, I moved to the back seats facing the stage as one couple had left. This was a prime spot. By the time the live music started, there was one more man and woman in the audience. The band consisted of a guitar, piano, and bass. The guitarist served as the MC and they started with two standard songs before playing an original number. I'm not sure about the details, but live music is just great, isn't it? The red wine added to the good mood~♪ The last song was an upbeat and cheerful one to close the show. They announced a 30-minute break before resuming at 9:00, but I was already satisfied enough~ So, it's time to call it a night! (^^)/

When I visited, there wasn't live jazz music playing, but I imagine it would be wonderful to listen to jazz in this shop. The owner's homemade dishes were delicious, and when I asked how they were made, they kindly shared their secrets (although they wouldn't reveal their curry recipe, haha). The atmosphere was very warm and the owner chatted easily with customers, creating a friendly vibe. The walls were decorated with records, giving the place a stylish feel.

<H24.2.22 revisit> Takagi Rei-san had a sore throat, so it ended up being a session with Taguchi-san on guitar and bass. For the second stage, piano and male vocals were supposed to join, but due to time constraints, it was just one stage. Had two Ginza highballs, dried fruits for snacks. Lunch menu seems to have changed, with a more fulfilling 500 yen lunch. <H24.1.7 revisit> This became the first bar visit of the new year. Watanabe Asuka-san on vocals and piano, with bass and drums. It seemed like today was the first live performance for the bar. Enjoyed one stage with Ginza highball and Yamazaki on the rocks. <H23.8.26 revisit> Initially visited due to a coupon, but this is the second visit in August. Today was a session with flutist Ono-san and guitarist Taguchi-san. The performance just 2 meters in front of us was amazing. The first visit in August was with four people including female saxophonist Hayasaka-san. <H23.7.8 revisit> This time used a coupon from Kumapon. It was a nice experience for my first live visit here. Used a coupon from Ponshelge and went for the first visit. Going downstairs, it was a small space with about 20 seats. However, the large JBL speakers, McIntosh amps were a delight for audio enthusiasts. Had a gin and tonic and mixed pizza while chatting with the manager and regular customers, it was enjoyable. It seems like the place is not well known yet, but it's a honest place so I recommend it. They are planning to focus more on live performances, so I plan to visit again soon.

In late May 2011, I went to a jazz bar called "BLUE EYES" in Ginza to watch a live jazz performance for the first time. I was invited by a former staff member of "Shintomi Gabin" who had helped me in the past with an issue related to the "Old Kaikosen Building" that my grandfather built in Shinfumi-cho in 1928. I am truly grateful for the opportunity and the coverage in the Yomiuri Shimbun that came as a result of their help. The bar is located on the basement floor of a building near the Ginza 1 Post Office. The trio performing that night consisted of trumpet player Keiji Shima, guitarist Yasufumi Sugiyama, and bassist Hirotane Takahashi. There were two live performances at 7:30 pm and 9 pm with a cover charge of 2500 yen. The intimate setting allowed for a close-up experience of the music, almost being able to hear the musicians' breaths. I enjoyed a "Straight Berry" drink for 800 yen and a hearty bacon toast sandwich called "Cannonball" for 800 yen. Despite being a complete novice to jazz, I found the performance very enjoyable. After the first set ended around 8:30 pm, I reluctantly left the bar knowing I had to wake up early for work the next day. Overall, it was a satisfying and enjoyable live jazz experience.

It's a shop I happened to enter by chance. It's located in a prime location, but the place is really hard to find! Walk towards Showa Street from the Ginza 1-chome intersection, and on the opposite side of Showa Street, I think there was a Bell's there. A small sign that says "Jazz" is the landmark. It's a bit hard to find. For first-time visitors, it might take a little courage to enter. But as soon as you enter, you'll notice that the atmosphere is really great! And the selling point of this shop is definitely the "sound!!" The sound quality is amazing! There are records displayed in the shop (I think they might sell them if asked...). Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and more... The shop manager is very friendly, so if you talk to him, he will tell you all sorts of things! As a music lover, I got carried away and ended up drinking whiskey smoothly. If you have similar tastes, you'll really enjoy it! Depending on the day of the week, they also hold live events. It's a great place to relax while listening to live music! Whether you want to chill out while listening to live music or get lost in the sound of the record player, this shop is perfect for music lovers! Highly recommended!

The staff at the shop are down-to-earth and it's a comfortable place to be. It doesn't feel like chatting is prohibited. The music is good too! And I heard they have live performances sometimes at night for a reasonable price of 2500 yen. It's nice to listen to jazz live. I accidentally ordered "three blends" to a regular customer, but the owner said it was okay since they were a part-time staff. It seemed like the owner mainly runs the shop alone.

While walking around, unsure of where to have lunch, I stumbled upon a restaurant with a sign advertising Thai curry for a very affordable price. I decided to go in, and found a cozy bar-like atmosphere with jazz music playing softly in the background. I ordered the green curry, which turned out to be spicier than I expected but very delicious. I also got a coffee as part of the set, and enjoyed a leisurely meal. I imagine the place would have a different vibe at night, so I would like to visit again.
