This is a rural casual soba restaurant where I stopped by on my drive amidst my binge eating and drinking. The soba portion is decent. The soba has a good texture but lacks a strong aroma. Personally, I felt that the ratio of buckwheat flour was not very high. Half would be sufficient. The shrimp tempura is made from small shrimp coated in tempura batter to make them larger, a style not commonly seen nowadays. The prices are somewhat high. When I visited, there were no locals, only tourists. Perhaps that's the type of restaurant it is. The smiles of the serving staff were a small consolation. Since they have the advantage of being in a tourist destination, I hope they strive to offer more authentic dishes.

During the Bon Festival, I had lunch while visiting a bear. Just around noon, when passing by before the store opened, I saw several foreign tourists waiting in line. As soon as the store opened, they lined up and entered! In no time, the four-seat tables and seven-seat counter were filled up. It took a while for the food to be served due to the simultaneous orders, but there were still more customers waiting outside. The soba with tempura was really cost-effective and it was clear that it was popular even among the locals!

Noboribetsu Onsen Street. I walked around alone. There are few open shops until night, so it feels lonely, but as a result, Seven-Eleven and Seicomart are thriving. I decided to try the popular soba restaurant. I was seated at the counter alone, but had to wait for about 20 minutes. Even though the restaurant was not busy, I was not guided to a seat. There was still a long line behind me. The hardworking ladies were struggling to keep the restaurant running smoothly. I patiently waited... The tempura bowl set with mini soba costs 1,100 yen. When it arrived, I was surprised! Four large shrimp were sitting in the bowl. Just the tempura alone costs over 1,000 yen. It's definitely worth the price. The shrimp was thick and juicy, and the tempura coating was crispy and delicious. The soba was also tasty. The light soba combined with the crispy tempura created a perfect harmony. If I have the chance to go again, I would definitely order this. Please don't raise the prices. Also, please stay open for dinner too~

I went to Noboribetsu Onsen the other day when I went back to my hometown for a hot spring tour! Noboribetsu Onsen has many wonderful hot springs and attracts many tourists. I was looking forward to it because I was getting hungry before entering the hot spring (^^). ■Ordered items Tempura and Soba Set 1300 yen A very voluminous Tempura and Soba set, the soba was ordinary but the tempura was crispy and decent. There are other menu items as well, but all of them were delicious and satisfying!!

In front of the shop, there is a bench with an ashtray. Inside the shop, there are only tatami seats where you take off your shoes before entering. The walls have imitation prints of Katsushika Hokusai's "Fine Wind, Clear Morning". The tatami seats are sunken kotatsu style with counter seats available as well. On the counter seats, there are condiments like shichimi and tissues. The background music on the TV is playing. About 60% of the customers are foreigners. The menu includes various soba, rice dishes, udon, drinks, etc. I ordered the shrimp tempura rice bowl set. The shrimp tempura comes with four pieces, with a slightly thicker coating. The shrimp tempura and rice below have a perfect balance of special sauce. The rice goes well with it. The small size soba has a good texture and goes well with the dipping sauce. Next time, I plan to try the tempura set.

The king had a long line, but this place was empty. I ordered the shrimp tempura rice bowl set from the counter. The layout of the restaurant is strange, so the staff must have a tough job. The shrimp tempura was delicious! The daikon radish was crunchy and the rice was satisfyingly filling. If you're here for the soba, why not also enjoy the hot spring? Or if you're here for the hot spring, why not have some soba too? Either way, don't forget to visit the outdoor bath! Shrimp tempura rice bowl set for 980 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

I went to Noboribetsu Onsen with my mother and husband, a trip for three. Noboribetsu is always a challenge when it comes to deciding where to eat. There are a lot of Chinese tourists, limited restaurants, and we don't want to stray too far from our base. We have to save energy for the night as well. Our favorite restaurant, "Chiba," is still open for business. Everywhere is crowded with tourists, mostly Chinese (except for Chiba). We parked our car at the hotel and walked here, finally getting a seat. The staff also seem to be Chinese, as they spoke to us in English. My mother and husband had the shrimp tempura rice bowl set for 980 yen each, while I had the grated yam rice set for 980 yen. A beer cost 550 yen. I hesitated to pay over 1000 yen for natto soba, so I ended up with the grated yam rice. We entered through the automatic door, took off our shoes, and sat at the raised tatami seating, which was quite cold despite the heated floor. It was so cold with the constant flow of customers. The soba noodles were round in cross-section, and there was no yuzu peel or soba-yu served. The shrimp tempura my mother shared was delicious. The beer was a bit sour. The total bill came to 3490 yen.

Before relaxing at Noboribetsu Onsen, I decided to grab a bite to eat. While exploring nearby restaurants on Tabelog, I came across the words "authentic hand-made soba" and couldn't resist entering. Despite being close to closing time, they welcomed me warmly. The interior is clean and Japanese-style, with a nice atmosphere for dining in a raised seating area. I chose the "Tempura Soba Set" for 1,250 yen as it came highly recommended. The soba noodles were delicious, being hand-made, and the recommended tempura shrimp was juicy and crispy.

Noboribetsu Onsen's famous restaurant. It can get crowded, but the soba noodles are excellent.

Located in the hot spring town of Noboribetsu Onsen, one of the top hot spring destinations in Hokkaido, this authentic hand-made soba restaurant offers a slightly upscale atmosphere where customers are asked to remove their shoes before entering. The menu is limited, with a few soba options and set meals with rice bowls. They offer a selection of 6 types of sake, including Kikumasamune. The soba noodles are moist and chewy, with a soft texture and a slightly rough surface. The flavor was a bit weak, but the broth was rich and slightly sweet, with a good balance of umami and acidity. The condiments were delicate and the wasabi was of good quality. Overall, the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and the authentic broth and condiments were excellent, but the soba noodles themselves fell a bit short. However, as this is the only soba restaurant in the hot spring town, it may be a suitable choice for a meal while enjoying the hot springs.

There were two types of soba noodles available, one being hand-made and the other not. The photo shows the non-handmade soba, which was quite ordinary with thin noodles. The tempura came with two types of dipping sauce, one for soba and one for tempura, both on the sweeter side. We arrived around 6 pm for dinner and noticed many foreign customers. The service from the owner was good, but the prices were on the higher side, typical of tourist areas. Overall, the value for money may not be the best.

I went to Noboribetsu. I was looking for a place to have lunch on the day of departure, thinking I would just go into the first place I found, and I was wandering around the street where a few food and drink shops were gathered on my way to the bus stop. However, there were few shops to begin with, and the ones that were open were also few. The first place I walked into said, "You can come in, but it will take quite a while to serve the food," so I gave up. I couldn't help but wonder if this town really had the intention of welcoming people as I continued to search for other shops. There was also a ramen shop, but it didn't seem very appealing. And so, I finally arrived at this place. The prices are higher than in the city, but if you think of it as a tourist area price, it's just about acceptable. As long as the taste is good, there should be no complaints. So I decided to enter. Luckily, I was able to sit at the counter right away. I ordered the "tororo gohan set". For a small additional fee, I was able to change the soba to hand-made soba in a seiro, so I did. The soba here is probably a mix of 80% buckwheat and 20% wheat. It's a whitish soba. I'm not sure if it's because it's not freshly made, but I couldn't really taste the flavor. For someone like me who can't tell the difference between "slightly better soba" and regular soba, it didn't stand out from the ordinary, but I still enjoyed it. The rice was delicious with each grain, but it had a taste that made me think it could have been cooked even more deliciously. I poured plenty of tororo over it and devoured it into my hungry stomach. Not completely satisfied, but I think it's a reliable option for eating out in Noboribetsu.

"Soba Restaurant Fukuan - Noboribetsu, Hokkaido - Day 1 in Noboribetsu Onsen, Hokkaido. We arrived at the hotel in the early afternoon, dropped off our luggage, and headed to Jigokudani. On the way to Jigokudani, there was an old hot spring town with souvenir shops lined up. We wandered around looking for lunch. We thought about dinner as well, but there were surprisingly few dining options, with only ramen and yakiniku places around. We ended up going into the only soba restaurant, "Soba Restaurant Fukuan." The interior was clean and Japanese-style. It wasn't very spacious, so it was almost full. While most people walking around the hot spring town were Chinese, the customers in this restaurant were mostly Japanese. It seemed like a place where locals also come to eat. The set meal of soba noodles and tempura donburi was popular, with over half of the people around us ordering it. My sister ordered it, and the tempura donburi with four plump shrimp looked delicious! I ordered the grated radish soba. The shrimp was also very fresh. I didn't have high expectations for a soba restaurant in a hot spring town, but the soba noodles were also delicious."
