(2022.02.16) At "Hakata no Sakurabana" on Nakasu Kawabata Street, the presence of "Kobe beef" and "teppanyaki" suggests that it may be a high-end restaurant. However, the large A-board displayed outside the restaurant featured reasonably priced lunch menu items such as hamburgers made with Kobe beef and garlic rice topped with sliced beef. Although I had already eaten lunch that day, I decided to return home and check the website, where I found the "Steak Ju" that I wanted to try. I headed back to Kawabata Street.
On the first floor, there were three sections of teppanyaki counters, each with a chef cooking in front of you, providing an immersive and interactive dining experience. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the Steak Ju on the menu, so I asked the staff if they had stopped serving it. They kindly informed me that they could make it for me if I had the time to wait.
Although it was a bit pricey, I wanted to savor the Kobe beef properly, so I decided to order the "premium red meat" from the four options available: lean meat, premium lean meat, special rare cut, and sirloin. After placing my order, I was told it would take about 15 minutes, but there was no sign of them starting the cooking process, which made me a bit worried.
As I was served a salad and meat sushi as accompaniments to the meal, the Steak Ju, prepared on the second floor, was brought to me. The salad, topped with a transparent "seaweed crystal," had a nice crunch from the lettuce and the chewy texture of the seaweed. The meat sushi offered a tender meat texture, a refreshing taste from the lightly chewed fat, and a rich flavor from the lean meat.
The steak, cooked rare with a nicely seared surface, was sliced and arranged densely on top of the rice in the bowl. I enjoyed it by drizzling the egg yolk in the center with wasabi soy sauce.
