I visited a charming sushi restaurant called Madoi Sushi Yu, located just a short walk from Tanimachi Rokuchome Station in Osaka. The restaurant is housed in a historic building over 100 years old, and the atmosphere is truly unique. The concept of the restaurant is described as a "sushi bar where you can enjoy sushi with sake." The meal started with delicious dishes like eel roll and fried squid, followed by homemade deep-fried vegetables. The sushi course included aged Japanese amberjack, firefly squid, and other delectable items. The highlight was the fatty tuna and bluefin tuna at the end. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the quality and experience of the meal. I would love to try other courses at this restaurant in the future.

I was surprised at how quiet it was just one street off the main street in Tamachi Rokuchome. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation time, but the owner kindly welcomed us into the restaurant, where he was carefully preparing ingredients at the 10-seat counter. My husband had been looking forward to this sushi restaurant for a long time, so I was excited all morning. We had the "10 types of natural fish sushi + 5 or more appetizers" course. Each piece of sushi was carefully crafted, with a perfect blend of premium red vinegar and sun-dried salt in the rice. The fish, some of which I had never heard of before, were unforgettable (I made a note of them). The moment I put them in my mouth, the rice and fish melted together. My husband enjoyed a fragrant Japanese sake, while I, who can't drink alcohol, had the owner's homemade honey-pickled kabosu soda, which paired perfectly with the sushi. Just like the name suggests, it was a very "gentle" experience, and this has become one of my favorite restaurants. My stomach and heart were both full. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Sushi restaurant Madoi Sushi in Tanicho 6-chome, with rare fish that can be enjoyed. I saw on Instagram that they had goblin shark, so I had to visit. The goblin shark had a good balance of flavor and fat, and it was delicious. I also tried various other rare fish and was very satisfied. I enjoyed some delicious sake, which was a rare treat for a meat lover like me. I look forward to seeing what they have next time. It's a great place to visit.

There are some shops near Tamachi Rokuchome Station that have a traditional Japanese house style. One of these shops is this one. The interior is clean and pleasant. The sushi toppings are unique and you may need to take notes to remember them. However, the taste is better than usual fish and makes you want to come back for more. Because of the quality of the fish, you can enjoy reasonably priced and carefully made sushi. It's a shame that they don't have a lineup of white wines, but you can still fully enjoy the sake. Thank you for the meal.

Having dinner at Madoi Sushi Yu, a sushi restaurant located in a narrow alley in Gaien Roku-chome. Reservations are required for lunch until the day before, but for dinner, same-day reservations are possible. The entrance door is small due to the old row house, so be careful not to hit your head. The place has been beautifully renovated. The course options are 5,500 yen or 8,250 yen. If you make a reservation the day before, higher-priced courses are also available. The prices are quite reasonable because they use rare fish that are not commonly found in the market and put effort into making sushi. I was intrigued by this. I ordered the 5,500 yen course. The meal started with Me-hikari and fried eggplant. The ankimo toast and sashimi were served, including a fish called 'gure' and another one that I forgot (laughs). There were indeed some fish names I hadn't heard of before. The grilled sardine was carefully cooked over charcoal and was delicious. After eating the grated daikon and cod milt, it was time for sushi. The most memorable dish was the 'Ojisan' fish. I have had it before in simmered dishes, but it was my first time having it as sushi. It wasn't too soft, and the smoky flavor from grilling made it quite tasty. The ankimo served as a complimentary dish was perfect with the sake. The sake was also delicious. You can feel the owner's desire to serve delicious food. The restaurant was fully booked, but the atmosphere was pleasant, and if you're not looking for high-end fish, it's a great place. We had a good amount of food and drinks for about 15,000 yen for two people. I felt it was affordable. Personal preferences may vary, but in my opinion, this sushi restaurant is highly recommended in this price range.
