Hello ( ̄Д ̄)ノThe other day, I had ramen with the three of us and we started talking about fried rice. I have a favorite restaurant with several branches, and this time I decided to visit #Shinshin-tei Ichijoji store!! This place is famous for its white miso ramen, but the miso ramen is also delicious. It's been a while since I had it. I visited on my bike, parked outside, and went inside. The lady there seemed energetic. I ordered the miso ramen for 720 yen and added the fried rice set for 340 yen. The sound of the fried rice being cooked in a frying pan was music to my ears. After a while, the miso ramen and fried rice set for 1060 yen arrived. This miso ramen has a different flavor from the white miso, with a strong ginger taste and a rich miso soup. It's delicious with plenty of ingredients like green onions, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and chashu. I added some chili garlic halfway through for an extra kick. And the fried rice with pickled ginger and seaweed was amazing!! I alternated between the ramen and fried rice, enjoying the combination. It was delicious as always. I'll definitely come back. Thank you, energetic lady. It was a great meal!! PS In the old days, I used to order white miso and miso ramen alternately, always with fried rice. The taste hasn't changed over the years, and that's important!!

I had white miso ramen. The toppings were bean sprouts, onions, minced meat, chashu, and shiitake mushrooms. The white miso flavor wasn't as strong as I expected, but you can still taste the miso. The soup had a Japanese-style taste. The chopsticks were round. There is a Times parking lot (20 minutes for 200 yen) across the street from the restaurant.

I received a set of white miso ramen and fried rice. Unlike rich flavors, you can enjoy the strong presence of white miso. The spiciness of ichimi and sansho peppers is also effective. The noodles are thin and straight with a low water content. The portion is generous and satisfying. The toppings include chashu, green onions, menma, bean sprouts, onions, and minced meat, making it rich in ingredients. The fried rice is delicious with nori as an accent. During the Golden Week holiday, I arrived at the restaurant at 11:10 and was able to sit at the counter without waiting. By the time I left around 11:40, there were about 7-8 people waiting in line. This shows how popular the restaurant is.

Personally, this is my favorite place in Kansai to enjoy miso ramen. It is a popular local shop known as the originator of ramen using white miso, which has been loved by regular customers for its unique taste compared to regular miso. In addition to miso ramen, they also offer dishes such as Chinese soba, salt ramen, champon, and yakisoba. I like to switch between white miso and regular miso based on my mood, and I also enjoy their fried rice and gyoza rice on rotation. On this particular day, I had miso ramen with a side of gyoza and rice. The gyoza was refreshing and flavorful when dipped in their homemade chili oil and sauce. I ordered extra menma topping for added crunch. The straight noodles had a nice firm texture, and the creamy miso soup is something I crave regularly. If you're looking for a traditional and delicious miso ramen experience that you can't find elsewhere, I recommend trying this longstanding Kyoto gem.

I had white miso ramen for the first time in about 30 years. It was delicious as I remembered. The smoothness of the white miso and the thin noodles went perfectly together. The generous amount of chashu and bean sprouts on top of the noodles made it very satisfying. Even though I just had it, I already want to eat it again soon. It's a dish that leaves you feeling satisfied and wanting more.

Revisited at 11:00 on a Saturday in December 2022, approximately 7 years and 6 months since June 2015. This is my first time posting, and this "Shinshin-tei Ichijoji Store" is a ramen restaurant famous for its original "white miso ramen" located in the fiercely competitive ramen district of Ichijoji. Personally, I have a deep connection with "Shinshin-tei" as I used to frequent the shop near Teramachi Nijo during my student days (now closed). Since the Nijo shop closed, I have visited this sister store several times in search of that taste, but this time was a long-awaited revisit. In this area, there are several ramen shops I want to visit again, such as "Gokkei," but on this day, I only had eyes for "Shinshin-tei." Just as the noren curtain was being hung, I followed a couple (2 people) waiting to open and took a seat at the counter. The interior of the shop has 3 counter seats (with a significant space between each seat for COVID-19 measures) and 3 two-person table seats, making it a cozy space. I checked the menu on the wall and ordered the following: - White Miso Ramen: 820 yen - Yakimeshi Set: +380 yen * Both prices include tax When I come here, I cannot miss the "white miso ramen." After that, customers kept coming one after another. By 11:10, the shop was full! (Afterward, there were customers waiting outside!) Half of the customers seemed to be local regulars, showing a clear difference in clientele from other popular ramen shops in the area. The shop is run by an older sister and an elderly woman who appeared later, managing everything together. The "yakimeshi" was not perfect, but it had a good balance of fluffiness and moisture, with a good seasoning. And the "white miso ramen" here is just delicious! Everyone has their own preferences, but personally, it's one of my top favorites among miso ramen (^.^) The balance of white miso flavor, vegetables like bean sprouts and onions, and chashu is excellent, making it a superb dish! Ah, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal! I hope this place continues to thrive as one of those restaurants you want to keep coming back to.

When you come to Kyoto, you must visit the ramen battleground of Ichijoji. On this day, coinciding with the autumn foliage season, there are long lines in front of every ramen shop. Among the many shops serving rich chicken-based ramen, I decided to enter this one with a sign that read "Japan's first white miso ramen." I ordered the white miso ramen and also added the "ramen yakimeshi set for an additional 380 yen" listed on the menu on the wall. The white miso ramen had a delicious soup with a smooth texture and a hint of sweetness from the white miso. Eating the bean sprouts with the noodles coated in miso provided a nice crunch. The noodles and char siu were also delicious. The yakimeshi was not your typical fried rice, but more like a mixed fried rice, and it was well-seasoned and tasty. I left feeling satisfied. Recently, the ramen scene in Kyoto seems to be losing its flavor, possibly due to becoming more chain-like. It could also be that popular places are now focusing more on profit. A delicious miso ramen spot can be found here, which hasn't expanded its locations. They offer white miso ramen, regular miso ramen with plenty of vegetables, and it's a hidden gem known for its tasty dishes. I highly recommend visiting this place. After I left, I saw three customers dining alone. Experience the taste of handmade miso ramen made with care and kindness.

Shinshin-tei, it's been a long time since I last visited. It must have been about 10 years ago. Back in the day, when I was a student, their store was located in Kawaramachi Rokkaku in the city center, and I used to visit often. After they moved near Nijo-teramachi, I visited the shop a few times when I was working in Kyoto as a professional. I heard that the current store is managed by the siblings of the previous owner. I have visited a few times. When my family comes to Jokoyama, we usually go to a different restaurant, so it has been a really long time since I last visited. I ordered their recommended white miso ramen. They cook bean sprouts, onions, minced meat, and ramen soup in a snow pot, adding white miso sauce and magic powder, and then simmer it until it boils. It is served with thin straight noodles. The mild white miso soup with a hint of onion sweetness makes it a guilt-free ramen, or so I like to think. It was not only nostalgic but also really delicious. Thank you for the meal. It's not the same without someone else, so...

Recently, I often visit the ramen battleground of Kyoto Ichijo-ji. I remember being recommended to try Shinshin-tei about 20 years ago when it was located near the city hall, so I made a special trip to eat there. It was a ramen with a rich flavor that was different from the typical miso ramen. This time when I went, I felt the history from the noren (curtain) at the entrance. They are probably still using the same one from the previous store. I entered the small shop with only a counter and a few tables, and ordered their signature dish, the white miso ramen. Oh. This taste. It brings back memories of the past. I'm not very confident in my taste buds, but I remember this flavor from before. It has a unique richness and umami from the white miso base. The noodles slid in smoothly, and I quickly finished the soup. Before I knew it, I had finished eating.

I entered the restaurant as soon as it opened at 11 o'clock. The main dishes are white miso and regular miso. There is also vegetable champon available. I started with fried rice. It reminded me of the gentle taste I used to have at my grandmother's house. It had eggs and soy sauce flavor. The white miso ramen has a mild miso flavor with a spicy kick that stimulates the appetite. The ingredients include onions, bean sprouts, ground meat, and chashu. You can understand why this place has been loved for many years in the competitive ramen district of Ichijoji. The owner's mother will retire, and the shop will close. I hope they can continue for as long as possible.

The soup is imagined as delicious miso ramen. However, when boiling the noodles, they weren't cooked with enough water, causing a sticky residue to form around them, separating them from the soup. This separation may be considered part of the nostalgic ramen experience, but personally, I wanted the delicious miso soup to be more thoroughly mixed with the noodles.

I went to the "Ramen Street" in Ichijoji, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto today to eat ramen. I visited a popular shop that serves white miso ramen. The shop, Shinshin-tei Honten, used to be located near the Kyoto City Hall. Unfortunately, the "main store" is now closed, and the shop I visited today seems to be the "Ichijoji store". The atmosphere inside the shop was lively, with locals chatting with the staff. It seems to be a shop loved by the locals. The ramen was reasonably priced starting from 600 yen, with a variety of flavors such as soy sauce, salt, and miso. Condiments were provided upon request due to COVID-19 precautions. I ordered the white miso ramen, which is said to be the original and first of its kind in Japan. The white soup ramen had bean sprouts and green onions in the center, and came with five slices of chashu. The rich flavor of the white miso was delicious, and the noodles were plentiful. The rich white miso soup blended well and was very tasty. There were plenty of onions and bean sprouts, and the sweetness of the onions was just right. I asked the staff to bring some pickled ginger, which I added to the soup and enjoyed. The delicious white miso soup made me finish the whole bowl. I felt that the flavor of the rich white miso soup shone through in this bowl. It was delicious.

After getting COVID, I hadn't been to Kyoto for over 2 years, but with the state of emergency lifted, I finally visited Kyoto again. Before going to a gardening shop in Nagaokakyo, my husband mentioned that there is a fierce ramen battleground in Ichijo. So, we decided to make a detour before going to the gardening shop. When I searched, I found various ramen shops and had a hard time deciding. Among them, there was a shop that serves white miso ramen that caught my attention, so we decided to give it a try! There is no parking lot at the shop, but there is a parking lot in front of the store. There are several others nearby as well. Fortunately, there was one empty space in the parking lot in front of the shop, so we parked there. Next to this shop, there is a tsukemen shop, and a few doors down there is another ramen shop. There were lines at various ramen shops here and there... We arrived at this shop around 11:30, and there were already two groups waiting, but the turnover was quick, so we were seated right away. There are three table seats and counter seats in this small cozy shop. We were seated at the counter. It seems like a woman and her child are running the shop. My husband ordered white miso ramen, and I ordered miso ramen. The soup was delicious! The white miso had a slightly sweet aftertaste, but it also had a spicy kick from the ichimi pepper, which was delicious. The miso ramen had a nostalgic miso soup taste. The noodles were thin, which we both love. There were plenty of onions and bean sprouts in the soup, and the portion of noodles was quite generous, so we were satisfied. They also had ichimi pepper, pickled ginger, and garlic, so feel free to ask for them! White miso ramen is quite rare. This shop has definitely become one that I would like to visit again. Ordered the white miso ramen and fried rice set. The soup is light but has depth and a satisfying richness. The noodles are delicious and easy to slurp up. This is a blissful bowl of ramen that you can't find at other places!! The fried rice is not fluffy but has a strong flavor with plenty of oil, perfect for a hearty meal. I always come back here. So delicious!!!! I gave it a 4.8 instead of a 5.0 because I didn't want to seem like a fake reviewer. As a true Kyoto local, this is my favorite ramen in Kyoto.

The food used to be delicious when the head chef was in charge, but the taste has become stronger since his retirement. Now his daughter is cooking. The fried rice had too much oil, making it difficult to eat. I knew how delicious it used to be, so I'm disappointed. The white miso ramen also had too much oil, and the broth was hard to drink.
