There is no transportation from Shari Town to Abashiri, so I had to wait 4 hours at the JR station. I took a walk around the station and found a small roadside station about 7-8 minutes away. There were no souvenir shops or restaurants inside, so I had a delicious pork bowl at "Shiretoko Kumaushi" and then bought some souvenirs nearby. I also visited "Mont Blanc Shari Store," a local confectionery shop that offers a mix of Japanese and Western sweets. I bought a dorayaki for 170 yen and a Shiretoko-themed sweet for 130 yen. I usually eat snacks on the way back, but I had eaten too much that day, so I decided to take them home. The dorayaki made with local wheat had a moderately sweet red bean filling and was decent in taste. The "Shiretoko Meguri" was a bun with zunda bean paste, which was quite sweet. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Visited during the Ohotsuku Sweets Stamp Rally. A large shop facing the main street of Shari. Bought some sweets with Shiretoko bear design to take home. The sponge was fluffy and moist, with a hint of butter. The caramel sauce's sweetness seeped into my tired body. It might go really well with coffee. Thank you for the meal.

The pumpkin dorayaki has red bean paste and pumpkin filling inside, with a stronger pumpkin flavor than expected. The roll cake is more like castella cake. When visited at opening time, popular items like the Fraisier (strawberry shortcake) are not available, with only a few limited products on display. The cakes in the showcase seem similar to the ones from the previous day. Despite being told that they are fresh, the sponge cakes are dry and hard. Some locals say that leftover items are sold the next day, but this reputation is not favorable. By midday, the variety of products increases. The cream used in items like cream puffs is advertised as "fresh cream," but it tastes like vegetable oil cream. When purchasing a cream puff, the product was handled with bare hands while being packed, which was unsettling. The sight of the employee's messy hair was also concerning. Even for a small-town cake shop, this is unacceptable. As the only cake shop in town, we hope they will strive for better taste and service in the future.
