"Alicia's Food Log: It's been so many years since I last visited this place. I went back after a long time, and on the day I visited, there was a jazz live performance going on, making the restaurant lively. I ordered the Zaru Yaki, where they cook meat in a sieve while draining the oil. It was quite an immersive cooking experience. I also tried the basil sauce with lightly seared fresh squid. During the day, they serve tonkatsu, so I don't have any photos of it, but the tonkatsu at night was delicious. The seating area is spacious and relaxing. Even though it's hot outside, the air-conditioned interior made the charcoal grilling experience a luxurious summer barbecue enjoyment."

A shop I had my eye on during my trip to Kitakyushu. This shop specializes in local chicken, seafood from the Kanmon Straits, and vegetables. Their lively "zaru-yaki" dish is highly recommended. You can also enjoy local specialty dishes. After paying the bill, six staff members even saw me off! It's a lively and energetic shop. This is the place to go for dinner in Kokura! ✌️

The polite customer service and wide variety of menu options were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful, recommending delicious dishes for us to try. The drink selection was also impressive. It's a place I would definitely like to visit again. The cost performance was good and the taste was delicious.

It is a sculpture bottle-packed shop loved by regular customers. They have tonkatsu, grilled dishes, sashimi, and creative cuisine. They include anything you want to eat on the menu, but the taste is amazing, which sets them apart from chain izakayas. They also have a rare shochu called Tiger & Dragon (same name as a drama). Don't forget about the local delicacy, Kanmon Strait octopus! The octopus near the fast-flowing Kanmon Strait is muscular and delicious. This brand of octopus is best enjoyed as sashimi. And their specialty, "zaru-yaki"! It is a creative chicken dish where Saga's local chicken and liver are grilled over chicken fat on a sieve. It is enjoyable to watch and the rare and chewy texture is delightful. You can feel the deliciousness of the meat itself. This place makes you want to keep coming back.

To Nana-san in Kokura Kita-ku... The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice! The menu is rich with options from meat, fish, to vegetables (^_^) The service from the part-time staff was energetic and pretty good (^。^) The taste of the dishes is average... I might use it again when passing by nearby (^.^)

It was bustling at the restaurant on Friday, but the staff's customer service was amazing. The grilled dishes cooked right in front of you were delicious, I even had seconds! I highly recommend trying it out! The draft beer in a chilled mug was so refreshing, it was the best... On the way out, I received a card with a word that suited me perfectly, and several staff members saw me off. I'm a big fan of this place now! I definitely want to go back! I was so engrossed in eating that I didn't take any photos ♀️

I wanted to eat chicken broth motsunabe and a tonkatsu of pork fillet. The tonkatsu in the city is the best.

I enjoyed the salted squid guts which paired well with alcohol. The vegetables, meat, and oysters were all delicious in appropriate portions. The variety of vegetable cocktails was also interesting. The place was filled with beckoning cats.

I went in to the legendary tonkatsu restaurant "Ai" in Wakamatsu because the sign was up during lunchtime. It goes without saying that the original shop is far more delicious. But before that, I want to know the reason for using the same name. I ate the tonkatsu with mixed feelings.

I used it for a drinking party with my subordinates. They kindly accommodated the requests I wrote in the email when making the reservation. The amount of food was smaller than I expected.

Due to work reasons, I had to travel to Moji to study for a qualification exam, and decided to treat myself to my favorite yakitori at "Yakimonya Nais." It was still early so there weren't many customers yet. I started with their specialty, "yakiton," which was cooked right in front of me on a charcoal grill. The texture and the rich flavor of the meat were amazing, giving me a much-needed energy boost. Next, I tried their other specialty, "zaru yaki," where different parts of the chicken are grilled using a sieve over the charcoal grill. The meat was tender and juicy, and each bite was simply delicious. Although the dishes were not enough to earn a 5-star rating in the competitive food scene of Kitakyushu, what really stood out was the outstanding customer service. After finishing my meal, a young, handsome waiter handed me what I thought was a discount coupon, but it turned out to be a note saying, "Do something today that you don't have to do today! You will definitely see results!" It resonated with me, so I ended up sharing my exam worries with the waiter. He encouraged me by saying, "If you work hard today, you will definitely pass!" It was a touching moment. As I left the restaurant, the staff, including the manager, were all outside cheering me on. It was a heartwarming experience, and thanks to their support, I was able to pass my exam. I am truly grateful for the wonderful time I had at the restaurant.

Viking? Buffet? Buffet? I'm a buffet person. Well, leaving that aside. This is Kokura. Let's eat local! It's a local supporter of North Kyushu, the most North Kyushu City. The lunch (880 yen) comes with a main dish and a side dish buffet. I like it because you can eat as many vegetables as you want. Rice and miso soup are free refills. The rice is a bit firm. The main dish I had was on April 7, 2012, a tender pork cutlet with a special sesame sauce. It's surprising how tender it is. Or so they say. It's not that surprising (laughs). On May 26, 2012, Kokura's specialty spare ribs of grilled pork marinated in a secret sauce. It's delicious even if you bite into it right away. That's what they say. I don't know if it's a specialty of Kokura! It's delicious! In this location, you can eat a lot of vegetables for 880 yen. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice. The service is pleasant. It has a pretty local feel. I think it's a good lunch. I'd like to try it at night next time. Thank you for the meal! <Additional note> I guess I'm still a buffet person after all (laughs).

I came to work in Kokura and had lunch at Nae's here. The location is near Kokura Izutsuya, so I parked in the adjacent parking lot. The exterior was stylish. Upon entering the restaurant, the staff greeted me with cheerful voices and the atmosphere was very nice. I arrived around 12 o'clock, and although the main customers were women, it was relatively empty and I was able to relax. The lunch menu offers various options for 880 yen each. There was a Kokura specialty called "yakiton" set, but I opted for the more traditional choices of hamburger or fried pork cutlet, so this time I chose the fried pork cutlet set. Additionally, there were about 8 side dishes available for all-you-can-eat, and I ended up eating quite a lot before the main dish arrived (^^) Finally, the fried pork cutlet was hot, juicy, and delicious. The miso soup was also tasty, but the rice was a bit hard. Other than that, it was worth the price in terms of cost-performance. One thing to note is that smoking is allowed, so the smell of cigarettes was slightly bothersome.
