I had the tsukedare tantanmen with shime gohan set! First, they brought the pot (dipping sauce) and heated it up on the IH stove at the table, then I had the noodles in the hot sauce, and finally asked the staff to bring the shime gohan. I didn't know how to eat the shime gohan, so the staff showed me. Despite looking spicy, it wasn't spicy at all (it was actually quite sweet), which was surprising, but the aroma of the spices was still there, creating a unique sensation. I prefer it spicier, but this was delicious in its own way! The noodles were thick curly noodles that paired really well with the dipping sauce. The shime gohan had cheese in it, making it even creamier. It was so delicious, I highly recommend trying it if you have the chance! Next time, I might try the spicy tantanmen. It was so good that I definitely want to go back!

There is no parking lot, so parking is necessary. The exterior is not very noticeable, so you might pass by. There are various menu options, but this time I chose the "Spicy Tantanmen". It was spicier than I expected, but not overly numbing. The soup was rich and paired well with the noodles, very delicious. It might be more satisfying if the spiciness was increased a bit. The highlight of this restaurant is the way they finish the meal. Mini, negi, tamago, and rice are treated like VIPs. This service is not often seen elsewhere. A great restaurant that makes you want to come back.

First, warm up the tantan soup on the IH stove until it's piping hot. When it's ready, the dipping noodles arrive. Once you finish the noodles, add rice and cheese to the soup, then reheat it on the IH stove. Top it off with chopped green onions for a delicious ochazuke! Everything is so delicious, there's nothing to complain about!

I visited the restaurant around 6 pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2023, and was surprised to find it quite crowded. I purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine and sat at an available counter seat. I ordered the dan dan noodles, and although I hesitated between soup or no soup, I went with the soup option! The noodles arrived quickly, and they were delicious! I think they beat the Chinese food at nearby hotels. It had been a while since I last had them, but they were still tasty. They were a bit spicy, so I added a little vinegar halfway through to mellow out the flavor, and I finished the whole bowl.

I searched for a ramen restaurant near the hotel where I was checking in, and found Gouriki, which seems to specialize in tantanmen. I purchased the Stamina Tantanmen Set with rice at the ticket machine. The condiment corner allowed me to freely add spicy miso and homemade chili oil. It was so spicy that it made my head feel like it was on fire, but I managed to finish it all!

My companion couldn't eat spicy food and was hesitant, but they ended up enjoying it and finished their meal. Despite its appearance, the spiciness was mild and easy to eat. As a fan of spicy food, I found it lacking in heat, but I can see why it's popular. I will definitely visit again when I go to Kyoto.

I went to Kouryoku for lunch today in search of soupless tantanmen. It wasn't crowded during weekday lunchtime, but there was only one seat available, so I managed to slip in. I ordered the soupless tantanmen from the ticket machine outside and handed the ticket to the staff, then waited for a while. The people in front of me were eating something like stone pot bibimbap. I wonder what that menu item is. Before I knew it, my order arrived! The soupless tantanmen came with flavor-changing items! I immediately mixed the noodles with the sauce - the noodles were medium-thick flat noodles with a wavy texture. The sauce coated them well, giving a chewy texture and a delicious taste! The ingredients and sauce had a savory minced meat flavor with a hint of sweetness, and the richness and aroma of sesame were prominent, with a gentle spiciness that was refreshing. Honestly, I didn't feel any numbness, so I found it a bit lacking, but it was similar to expressing the regular soup tantanmen in a soupless form, making it easy to eat even for those who are not a fan of the numbing sensation. I was thinking of adding rice after finishing the noodles, but to my surprise, a stone pot appeared! The staff swiftly used the table IH to stir-fry it, creating a sizzling sound and it was done. I never expected this to be the ending rice dish! This was basically a stone pot bibimbap! Haha. A set of soupless tantanmen and stone pot bibimbap could easily be a menu name. The sauce became so fragrant and delicious due to the stone pot, making it incredibly tasty. I'm curious about the limited-time cold tantanmen too! Thank you for the meal!

On my second visit on a Sunday, despite arriving after 1:30 PM, there was a line of 2-3 people in front of the shop. I bought my meal ticket and waited. This time, I tried the Stamina Ramen with a side of rice set (1180 yen). It had more ingredients like raw egg and garlic chips compared to regular tantanmen, making it perfect for the hot summer weather. For the side dish, they finished it off with cheese and green onions, giving it a bibimbap-like twist. It was delicious, the best!

Visited on Friday night around 7pm with 2 people. There were 2 groups of customers before us. Purchased a Stamina Ramen for 950 yen from the ticket machine. Recently, many people seem to be breaking bills because their wallets are small, so the ticket machine can be strict, making you feel rushed when alone. Haha. The ramen is delicious no matter when you eat it, and the vegetables are crunchy. Sometimes the saltiness is stronger on certain days. In the past, I used to eat everything including the noodles, but now I struggle to finish the ramen. So sad~ Haha.

Ordered THE tantanmen on my first visit. The thin noodles, soup, and ingredients were well-balanced and truly a classic dish. The disappointing part was the red-braised pork rice. I was expecting fried pork ribs but it turned out to be stewed, and why put mayonnaise on it? Lately, there are more restaurants putting mayonnaise on dishes like chashu bowls, but there are people who dislike mayonnaise. I wish they would at least indicate in the menu name if it has mayo. I won't order it for sure. Overall, including my complaints, the tantanmen alone would be a 4 or higher, but I'll deduct points. Next time, I'll make sure not to order unnecessary items.

I first came to Kouryoku about 20 years ago when it first opened. Since then, I have been hooked on the taste of their tantanmen. I also eat tantanmen in Tokyo, but the taste of Kouryoku is still the best. This time was my first visit in a while.
[Order]
- Stamina Tantanmen & Ishiyaki Kuppa (topping... half-boiled egg)
The spiciness of the tantanmen is almost not felt, it's mild. It might not be enough for people who love spicy food. The minced meat and sesame flavors are rich, and the accent of peanuts is also quite good. The aroma is also elegant. The Stamina Tantanmen has curly, chewy thick noodles that go well with the soup and are delicious noodles. One of the charms of Kouryoku is the Ishiyaki Kuppa. It's a cheese risotto with tantan soup, and you make it by boiling the leftover soup. You can only eat this by ordering the Stamina Tantanmen or Tsukemen Tantanmen with the Ishiyaki Kuppa set.
[Ishiyaki Kuppa (set)]
Pour the leftover tantanmen soup into the prepared iron pot, bring it to a boil on the table's induction cooker. Add rice, turn off after a while. Sprinkle cheese and green onions to finish. It's creamy and gooey. It's very hot, but the rich and mellow taste of tantan is like the feeling of finishing a hot pot. Perfect for the finish.
- Fried chicken
Four large pieces of fried chicken. Crispy on the outside and juicy and tender inside. Delicious. I was very satisfied eating it after a long time! Thank you for the meal. m(_ _)m

I heard two students talking about how delicious the tsukemen here is, so I decided to wait a bit and then go eat. When I entered the restaurant, there were mostly office workers. It might be a good sign that many people use this place often. By the way, the seasonal tantanmen was lemon tantanmen. Even though I wanted to try the tsukemen, since it was my first time, I ordered the classic THE tantanmen! The soup was quite spicy. You might cough if you slurp it, haha. But the minced meat was sweet, so when mixed, it was just right. The cashew nuts added a nice accent. It truly tasted like a classic tantanmen. Next time, I'll try the tsukemen. Thank you for the meal.

A specialty restaurant in Kyoto that serves tantanmen noodles. The chic space is laid out with spacious counters and tables. The thick noodles are chewy and coated in a spicy and oily sauce, with a richly seasoned minced meat topping, white leeks, nuts, and crunchy bean sprouts adding accents. Initially sweet, the dish later reveals a strong spiciness and a good ethnic aroma.

The set included dan dan noodles without broth and stone pot bibimbap. I thought the bibimbap would come with the noodles, but it was served as an extra dish. They used the leftover ingredients from the dan dan noodles to make the bibimbap in the hot stone pot. It was really delicious. The dan dan noodles were also tasty with chewy noodles, but the bibimbap was the highlight. I highly recommend trying the stone pot bibimbap with extra rice. The crispy, fragrant rice mixed with the condiments was a perfect match and made the meal even more enjoyable.

I felt like eating Tantanmen for the first time, so I went to this restaurant located between Nijo Castle and Oike. This time, I ordered the "Stamina Tantanmen" and some gyoza. The Stamina Tantanmen contains garlic and raw egg, so it's not recommended for those with plans in the afternoon. But if I come back again, I would definitely order it again. Garlic and Tantanmen make a perfect combination!

This is a famous restaurant known for their Dan Dan noodles and stone pot Bibimbap. The stone pot Bibimbap is said to be very impressive. I didn't have enough room in my stomach to try the Bibimbap, so I ordered the Stamina Dan Dan noodles. The ticket vending machine is located outside the restaurant. It was nice to get plenty of vegetables.

Because it was cold, I was thinking of eating something spicy at "Kouriki" and getting the Stamina Tantanmen, but I changed my mind in front of the ticket machine and ordered the Karashibi Tantanmen with creamy egg and rice set in Kuppa style. The Tantanmen that came out looked really spicy as the name suggests. When I tried it, it was indeed spicy but not too much, and I could taste the richness as well, which was nice. The nuts and minced meat that came together in each bite also did a great job. I was so absorbed in eating that I finished it right away. I will pour plenty of soup over the rice to finish it off. It's delicious after all. The creamy texture of the egg when cracked was also good, it was the best. As always, I was satisfied.

On very cold days, I crave the tantanmen from "Kouryoku" restaurant. This time, I went for the Stamina Tantanmen and the Kuppa-style finishing rice. The Stamina Tantanmen has a nice kick of garlic and spiciness. The hot soup warms you up. The flat curly noodles are perfect with the soup. The bean sprouts and cabbage also do a great job. After finishing the Stamina Tantanmen, the Kuppa-style finishing rice arrives. Pour the remaining soup in the iron pot, add rice, cheese, and green onions for the ultimate finishing rice. You can even ask for extra rice for free, which is great.

As it's getting colder, I decided to warm up with some tantanmen, and headed to "Kouriki" for their winter limited edition sake kasu tantanmen. I also ordered the set with a creamy kuppafu-style finishing rice. The tantanmen looked ordinary at first, but when I tried it, the mellow flavor of sake kasu combined with a spicy kick was quite interesting. The spiciness actually helped to stimulate my appetite, and I found it easy to keep eating. The portion wasn't too big, so I finished it quickly. Then, I poured plenty of soup over the finishing rice to make it kuppafu-style, and when I cracked the egg, the runny yolk was irresistible. It was delicious, and I devoured it in no time. Next time, I might try the stamina tantanmen.
