I went to Matsuya Ginza! The depachika (department store basement) is fun, isn't it? They have a lot of charming and delicious items available. Here, I was looking for the corned beef from Sendagi Koshizuka. I went at night, but it seems like the temporary boom has passed because there were plenty in stock. The price had also gone up a bit!! I was able to purchase it safely. It's super delicious when you put the shredded corned beef on freshly cooked white rice, top it with an egg yolk in the middle, and drizzle soy sauce on it!! Corned beef ¥2,481

This is a bento and side dish section located on the basement floor of Matsuya Ginza. It is operated by the better of the two Koshizuka, one is a descendant of Sendagi and the other is from Jiyugaoka under Japan Restaurant Systems. The items sold here seem similar to those at the Koshizuka section in Ecute, but this is a new concept store exclusive to Matsuya Ginza. It had been almost two years since I last watched a movie due to the pandemic, so after finishing the movie and having a late lunch, it was already past 4:30 pm. I was too lazy to buy ingredients and cook at home, so I ended up here after exploring the basement floor of Matsuya. The corned beef and wagyu beef bento that I chose, priced at 1481 yen, was something I had never seen before. The bento had a mix of corned beef and grilled beef on top of rice. I warmed it up lightly in the microwave at home. The corned beef was thinly arranged on top of the rice, completely shredded, and it was delicious. I couldn't shred the corned beef as well when I bought it from Koshizuka at home, so I wonder how they do it. The wasabi served with it also paired well with the corned beef. The grilled beef, on the other hand, was like bulgogi style, tender and flavorful with the taste of wagyu beef, and the spicy touch of gochujang and shredded chili pepper was a nice touch. Overall, I was satisfied with this meal for under 1500 yen. Koshizuka is definitely the way to go, especially the Sendagi branch.

I went to Matsuya Ginza store! I love strolling around the depachika (food basement) area. I was hoping to find a store selling the famous corned beef from Sendagi Koshizuka at Matsuya Ginza store. I looked around and found it there! They had a large selection of corned beef as well. It seems like the boom has calmed down a bit since earlier this year when it disappeared from the shelves in no time. Once you try the corned beef here, it's hard to go back to any other brand! Corned beef ¥2,140

First Visit May 2021 (No.2703) On the day of gathering material in the Ginza area, I decided to have dinner here. This deli is operated by the famous meat shop "Yasuzuka," established in 1949 in Sendagi, known for its homemade processed products such as corned beef. I have already purchased corned beef at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi main store. They sell various meat-related products at the store, but I bought the following item in order to enjoy their delicious corned beef again. Reuben Sandwich 580 yen This was my first time trying this item. Upon researching, I found that it is a hot sandwich made with rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing or Thousand Island dressing. Variations include using pastrami instead of corned beef and coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. It is considered a classic sandwich and specialty dish in New York. The sandwich I bought used fresh rye bread, and although the rye bread may not be homemade, the combination of corned beef, cheddar cheese, and onion slices made for a delicious and filling sandwich. If I have the chance, I will visit again to try other side dishes. Thank you for the meal.

Koshizuka in Sengoku is a popular spot lately, often seen at various department store basements. I bought a bento box on sale at the Ginza department store basement. The Corned Beef & Domestic Beef Yakiniku Bento was originally priced at 1186 yen before tax, but with a 200 yen discount. However, the receipt showed a 100 yen discount, making the final price 1086 yen before tax. The bento box contained Niigata Koshihikari rice, Koshizuka's corned beef with wasabi, and yakiniku beef on top of stir-fried glass noodles with a sprinkle of shredded chili pepper. In between the corned beef and yakiniku, there was a small portion of potato salad and egg omelet. The bento box was served with hot rice, but the corned beef outshined the yakiniku. Although the portion was small, I appreciated the combination of wasabi and corned beef.

Koshi-zuka's corned beef is extremely famous. I have eaten it many times, but I always end up buying it regularly. Recently, it has been featured on TV, and if I go around noon, it is sold out. This corned beef has a unique sweetness and richness of beef that you can't find anywhere else. When you put it on warm rice, the beef fat melts, bringing even more sweetness, and your chopstick speed increases. Adding just the yolk of a raw egg on top, and drizzling a slightly sweet Kyushu soy sauce, creates a perfect dish. It's a luxurious treat to lightly toast it on bread. Eating it sandwiched without toasting is like a high-end sandwich. Sauteing it with potatoes and a little pepper makes for the ultimate drinking snack. It's great on crackers too. This corned beef is unmatched by any other. It's expensive but definitely worth buying, those who don't buy it don't know the greatest happiness. I will buy it again.

If something new is born, there may be reasons for something to retreat... It's unavoidable. What's left is hoping that a beloved restaurant will open nearby. I heard that "Seiyou Ginza" and "Chez Shima" have closed down. These were new restaurants. I don't eat much meat, but I'm not a vegetarian. I believe in eating whatever I find delicious. Whether it's from a convenience store, cooking at home, or getting takeout. Occasionally, I indulge in luxury dining at a restaurant. Differences in opinions arise for various reasons. There may be religious factors at play. As someone who follows the "eight million gods belief" rather than the "vegetarian belief," I find it hard to relate to eating only leaves. It's a matter of personal preference. If it's an integral part of one's lifestyle, then it's completely fine. The problem arises when some extremists engage in activities that cause inconvenience to others, thinking they are doing it for the greater good. Speaking of food preferences, I don't pay much attention to the direction, but when I put it into words, I feel like I might sound critical. That's not my intention. Now, about meat. Hmm. It's a matter of personal compatibility, but in terms of "vibes," the synchronicity is quite low for me. I bought an adult evening drink set. I think it was a trial set with various items. While I believe corned beef can be purchased individually, perhaps it's for shelf life reasons. Even when eaten on its own, the taste stands out. Personally, I feel like I want to add something to it, but since I'm not accustomed to eating corned beef, it seems like a flavor that would shine in activities like mountain climbing or tent cooking. It's probably a versatile ingredient that enhances the flavor of any dish, but in a city filled with delicious options, I think it's not as essential. This is just one opinion! Don't worry about it! The rest follows a similar thought process. It might be a taste or method that preserves a flavor from the past... Not necessarily health-conscious, but more like... Encounter, purchase, taste, and write personal impressions... Just the notes of a drunken person...

There is a store in front of Kodama. There are delicious side dishes lined up here too. Today, I decided to buy only the quiche for now. Compared to the spinach quiche sold at a nearby store for around 400 yen, the 880 yen including tax here feels quite high, but it comes with corned beef as a side dish, and the corned beef here seems quite popular, so I decided to buy it. It was a great decision. It's delicious. The quiche has a lot of corned beef in it, as well as diced potatoes and ham. I should have bought one more. I feel like buying other side dishes as well. If you visit both Kodama and this store, you can purchase the ultimate charcuterie. Why didn't I come here sooner? It goes well with alcohol, haha.

I was tempted by the corned beef at Shibuchika in Shibuya. I bought some and now I'm hooked on corned beef. They also have it at Matsuya, so I'll buy it there too. Today I had croquettes. The lineup varies depending on the store. The corned beef has a strong presence and a rich flavor despite its fibrous texture. The sweetness and smoothness of the potato are top-notch, and the lightly fried coating is excellent. It's more like a snack or appetizer than a main dish. When buying corned beef here, there is a limit of one per person. I wonder when I can buy it again. It would be nice to treat myself with it.

I heard that a friend lives in Sendagi, and since I researched the gourmet food in Sendagi, I've been curious about a meat shop called Yokoetsuka. It seems that their homemade corned beef is popular and has been featured in various media. I was intrigued, but I didn't have a reason to go to Sendagi... One day, when I was using Ginza Matsuya, I saw it! Yokoetsuka's shop! The price was high, so I couldn't buy it right away and after much deliberation, I finally purchased it. The price is 2140 yen for one pack (400g, tax included)! The store also has bacon and side dishes, which all look interesting. I was well-prepared with a cooler bag to get it. At the store, there was a sign saying one per person only. It was a weekday afternoon when I visited, and there was still plenty of stock available. The beef is from Australia and the beef fat is domestically sourced. If unopened, it can be refrigerated for about 3 weeks, and once opened, it can be refrigerated for about 1 week. If frozen immediately after opening, it can last for a few months. When freezing, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap and then wrap it with aluminum foil to prevent discoloration caused by light. I saved half of it that way. I inserted a knife around the pack and placed it on a cutting board. The aroma of the fat and meat is amazing! I tried it in a Yukke style that I found on the internet. I put the sliced beef in a heat-resistant dish, covered it with plastic wrap, lightly heated it, and then shredded it. There was actually quite a lot of meat compared to the sliced amount. It's said to be delicious with egg yolk on rice, but this time I made a salad with it. You can feel the texture of the meat fibers, but the beef aroma is at its maximum and it's delicious! This would make a great impact and be appreciated as a gift at a home party! Corned beef seems to go best with bread. Following a recipe from Hotel Okura, I made a sandwich with toasted bread, corned beef mixed with mayo and Worcestershire sauce, and fried onions. It was amazing. I would love to make a bagel sandwich with it too! I thought it would be saltier, but it's not overly salty, so it's open to various adjustments. Personally, I found that microwaving it for about a minute until the beef fat completely melts and mixes well makes the fibers more tender and delicious. It's a bit expensive, so I hesitated a bit before buying it, but it's quite a large quantity for home use. Once I finish the frozen one, I would definitely love to buy it again when I have the chance to indulge! I'm also very curious about the directly operated restaurant in Kichijoji!

This is a store located on the basement floor of Matsuya Ginza store that sells bento boxes and side dishes. I was interested in the bento box made with 100% domestic beef hamburger, but when I tried to ask the staff if it can be microwaved, they were not paying attention to customers at all, so I left feeling displeased. After checking out other stores, I came back to this store, and the two staff members were still not looking at customers at all. Another store's staff noticed and helped me, so I decided to buy it. By the way, they said it's okay to microwave it if you remove the lid and cover it with plastic wrap. The price is 1,080 yen (tax included) for the hamburger bento box, which also includes carrots, potatoes, and simmered vegetables, as well as potato salad. The taste was decent, but when I microwaved it on the "warm" setting, it only became slightly warm. I should have heated it properly with a stronger microwave setting. Overall rating: 3 stars, taste: 3.2, service: 2.8, cost performance: 3.3.
