I found a delicious tonkatsu restaurant in my neighborhood after a long time. I visited Tonkatsu Wakaba's Hakata Station Chikushi-guchi branch, which recently opened, and finally got to visit today. I had the Tonkatsu and Egg Rice Bowl. The rice was topped with a thick layer of egg and tonkatsu on top, allowing you to enjoy the original flavor of tonkatsu. It was a delicious dish just like the Tenjin branch.

A tonkatsu restaurant located about a 5-minute walk from Hakata Station. I ordered the Ryuka pork loin cutlet. First, a sweet minced meat on tofu dish, similar to last time, was served as a appetizer. Although it doesn't necessarily go well with tofu, the minced meat is sweet and delicious. I chose mixed grain rice. Refills were only available for white rice, perhaps due to timing. There are various seasonings for the tonkatsu, including two types of salt, sauce, and salt ponzu. I found that the herb salt had more complexity in flavor compared to rock salt, with added sweetness that suited my taste. Trying lemon with salt ponzu together enhanced the refreshing sensation, adding a fun element to the combinations. Whether eaten as is or with sauce, I believe you can enjoy the unique qualities of each seasoning without getting tired of the tonkatsu.

The third branch of a popular tonkatsu restaurant known for its "white tonkatsu" that is fried slowly at low temperature. I have visited the other two branches before. I arrived around 1 pm to avoid the lunch rush, and there was no wait. The restaurant was about 70% full. The lunch last order is at 2:30 pm, with closing at 3 pm. There are many counter seats and table seats, and the place is spacious. - The dressing for the cabbage on the table is delicious. - I chose the weekday special "Rosukatsu: 1,200 yen (tax included, credit card accepted)". I was torn between the fillet and the loin, but I have been enjoying the loin lately. - They informed me that it would take about 15-20 minutes to prepare because they fry it slowly at low temperature. It was served in about 15 minutes. If you're in a hurry, the donburi or curry might be a better option as they are served quickly. - The rosukatsu (120g) was a beautiful pink color, as it was fried slowly at low temperature. The loin had a moderate amount of fat. - The coating was crispy, and the meat was juicy and delicious. The grated daikon with white ponzu sauce also went well with it. They recommend eating it with rock salt first, then with grated daikon, and finally with sauce and mustard, but personally, I preferred it with grated daikon. - It's nice that they serve a small portion of potato salad. - I poured white ponzu sauce from the table onto the grated daikon. The ponzu sauce is gentle with a slightly sweet taste. - You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice, and one refill is free. The red miso soup and cabbage are also free for one refill. - The tonkatsu is said to be tender and juicy due to the low-temperature frying, and it was indeed delicious. The coating was crispy and to my liking.

This is the Hakata branch of Tonkatsu Wakaba, which has been selected as one of the top 100 tonkatsu restaurants in 2022. This restaurant is known for its white tonkatsu. It takes about 20 minutes to fry and serve. I ordered the Kagoshima Yuzu Pork Loin Katsu set. It was flavorful and tender, with a clean and high-quality taste of fat. Even after finishing the meal, I didn't feel too heavy. Yuzu pork has the characteristic of having a relatively high melting point for fat, so perhaps low-temperature cooking helps to retain the flavor even more. The pink rock salt was served in a container that made it easy to adjust the amount. There were 7 different ways to enjoy the dish: with sauce, grated daikon radish with ponzu salt, pink rock salt, herb salt, mustard, wasabi, lemon, or just as it is. There was a lot of cabbage served, and its moisture made the crispy texture of the tonkatsu nearby a bit damp towards the end, which slightly affected the texture.

Super popular restaurant. I had been wanting to go there for a while, and it finally opened at Hakata Station. I finally got to go. It's said to be quite crowded during lunch, but it's empty at night. I ordered my favorite Katsudon - Shisowasa Katsu Tamadon. I've been eating out a lot lately, so my stomach wasn't feeling well and I couldn't finish it, I'm sorry. Under the katsu, there is a thick and fluffy egg. I prefer it to be a bit smaller even if it's thick, rather than a large katsu.

I added one fillet cutlet to the pork cutlet set! This color of tonkatsu is unique and leaves a strong impression. With salt, sauce, grated daikon radish, and salt ponzu, you can enjoy changing the flavor. The salt ponzu was delicious~ I was happy and full with delicious tonkatsu.

"Wakaba Tonkatsu" is one of the few tonkatsu restaurants in Fukuoka that can compete in Tokyo, and they recently opened another branch at Hakata Station, so I decided to visit. It was quite crowded during the day, so I went in the evening and it was surprisingly empty. I highly recommend visiting on a weekday evening. I started with the Katsudon, which was delicious and priced under 1,000 yen. I also tried the tofu dish, which would have been perfect with some sake. The Katsudon here was different from the usual style, as the tonkatsu was placed on top of the egg bowl instead of being mixed in with the sauce. This kept the tonkatsu crispy and maintained a great texture. The sauce was slightly sweet and tasty, and the tonkatsu itself was delicious. I look forward to trying the hire (fillet) tonkatsu next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!"

I ordered Kagoshima prefecture roasted tonkatsu for lunch. It arrived about 30 minutes after ordering, fried at a low temperature. The tonkatsu, fried in golden oil, was very delicious. Normally, eating something oily would upset my stomach, but this time the oil must have been good because my stomach felt great! I will definitely go back again!

Newly opened Tonkatsu Wakaba Hakata Station Chikushi-guchi Store in Hakata-ku, Hakata Station Higashi on July 12, 2023 (Wednesday). I went to Tonkatsu Wakaba Hakata Station Chikushi-guchi Store. This restaurant has its main store near Acros Fukuoka, always with long lines. Next, they opened a second store in Imaizumi for donburi, and this store, the third store, opened on July 11th. I ordered the weekday lunch set, the Lunch Rosu Katsu set. You can choose between white rice or multigrain rice, and I chose white rice. Rice, miso soup, and cabbage can be refilled once for free. They also have Katsudon! The Imaizumi store specializes in Katsudon, so this store is a combination of the main store and the Imaizumi store. On the table, there are tonkatsu sauce, ponzu sauce, salt, and corn dressing. The tonkatsu comes with two different flavors of sauce and grated ponzu sauce. Here comes the Lunch Rosu Katsu set @ 1200 yen (tax included). Akadashi, pickles, potato salad, grated daikon. The tonkatsu is thick and voluminous! The cabbage is also abundant and thinly sliced for easy eating. Let's try the katsu first. The slightly pink color might be a feature of low-temperature cooking. Wow!! It's incredibly delicious. The coating is crispy, and the katsu is melt-in-your-mouth tender. With the tonkatsu sauce, the white rice disappeared in no time. I'll say it again, it's delicious. Next, let's try it with grated ponzu sauce! This is also refreshing and delicious. I was very satisfied with the lunch with multigrain rice as a refill. It took about 40 minutes from ordering to the food being served, so it might be tough to eat during a company lunch break. 2-3-28 Hakata Station Higashi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. Closed on Sundays.
