It's almost 2:00 PM and my stomach is growling so much that it feels like my thoughts are coming to a halt. In this state, I was drawn to the sign for Hamakatsu and decided to go in. I am satisfied for now. My hunger has been satisfied and I feel happy. I couldn't resist and ended up adding a single order of fried horse mackerel as well.

A very ordinary tonkatsu. You can choose between red miso and white miso for the miso soup, but I found the red one to be much tastier. It was nice to have a refill of cabbage. However, the main dishes of tonkatsu, chicken katsu, and pork cutlet on the mixed plate were just too ordinary to praise. It was worth the price. (^^)

The roast beef and oyster fry set meal were both delicious. When I went after a long time, the sauce had become a secret recipe only, and a bottle of additional sauce for a spicy taste appeared. (I wonder if they got rid of those pottery pots in all their stores...?) The small packet of mustard is similar, but slightly different, yet personally, they serve the same purpose...they overlap, don't they...? It seems that they have reduced the pickles to just one type. It would be fine to have just one type of dressing...minor changes are a bit sad. I miss the days of Hamakatsu with three types of pickles and two types of sauce.

[Taste] The pork cutlet made with lean loin meat is tender with little fat. It has a sweet meaty flavor and personally, I prefer the loin cutlet the most. The fillet cutlet is a bit firmer with a juicy texture. It has a strong meaty taste, recommended for those who enjoy a hearty meaty flavor. The Dutch cutlet with cheese has a rich flavor that would likely appeal to children. The shrimp fry has a firm shrimp texture with a nice bounce. It comes with a unique tartar sauce that has a strong acidity. [Service] Nothing in particular. [Atmosphere] It has a casual Japanese-style dining atmosphere. [Cost-Performance] They offer refills on certain items, so you can leave feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

If you want to eat delicious tonkatsu without any worries, go to Hamakatsu! I only go for lunch because I tend to eat too much rice there, but at Hamakatsu, I actually prefer the cabbage over the tonkatsu. The shredded cabbage at Hamakatsu is fluffy and delicious. The dressing is also tasty! This time, I tried the chicken nanban for the first time, and as expected, it was a safe choice!

A coupon with a flyer from "Tonkatsu Hamakatsu" is in the news. "Tonkatsu Hamakatsu Winter Oyster Festival, one plate of katsu with free refills." It's a chance. I rarely use Hamakatsu for anything other than lunch menus. The main menu with a variety of dishes is over 1,000 yen, so it's not easy to afford. (laughs) I happened to have some business in Yame, so I decided to stop by the "Fukuoka Yame Branch" when I visited. I arrived at 11:50. There is a drive-thru in the parking lot. When I entered the restaurant, only about a third of the seats were taken. There are 2-person table seats, but since it wasn't crowded, we took the 4-person table seats without hesitation. The table seats along the wall facing the road are set up with 2-person tables combined to accommodate large groups, and there are 4-person table seats with partitions in the center of the floor. It's comfortable without worrying about the surroundings. I ordered the "Oyster Fry Set (1,419 yen, tax included)." The dish arrived shortly. The oyster fry has a crispy texture of the batter and a juicy oyster inside, creating a nice contrast in mouthfeel. The rich umami flavor of the oysters is somewhat restrained, making it easy for anyone to eat. The tartar sauce, which is Hamakatsu's specialty, is slightly lighter in flavor and lacks richness compared to other similar restaurants. There is also a new oyster fry sauce that is a collaboration with Otafuku sauce. The menu describes it as "a special sauce made with plenty of fruits and vegetables, with the flavor of red wine," but personally, it reminds me of the skewer sauce from Osaka. (laughs) Before finishing the meal, I activated the "free refill katsu" coupon. I ordered an "Oranda katsu (1 piece)" as an additional order to change up the flavors and enjoy a hot Oranda katsu. The rice, cabbage, and miso soup are all free refills, so I got extra of everything. I ate until I was comfortably full. Thank you for the meal.

When I was on a business trip to Fukuoka, I wandered around Yame. During lunchtime, I found Hamakatsu along the national highway. I decided to eat there since it seemed like a safe choice. It was before 12 o'clock, so it wasn't crowded yet, which was nice. The parking lot may be a bit small compared to other stores, but there was still plenty of space. I ordered the Hamakatsu lunch set (690 yen + tax) from the lunch menu. The food was served quite quickly after ordering. The waiting time wasn't too bad, and I could pass the time by eating sesame seeds and pickles. It was nice to have both pork cutlet and chicken cutlet for lunch. You can get refills of cabbage and rice, but I was already too full to have any more. Thank you for the meal.

I use Hamakatsu about once a year during the day, but sometimes I crave it. It's not too crowded, so I can eat slowly, which makes me happy. It's a good deal for lunch, around 980 yen for the shrimp fry and fillet cutlet set. They also have a limited time plum and shiso cutlet for 350 yen. The great thing about Hamakatsu is that you can get refills on rice, and you can choose between white rice or mixed grain barley rice. The miso soup can be red or white miso, and the cabbage can be diced or shredded. You can also get refills on rice, cabbage, miso soup, and pickles. While waiting for the rice, you can grind sesame seeds and eat pickles. There are two types of sauces, but the one I chose wasn't too spicy. When the set meal arrived, the barley rice was not too hard and the miso soup was normal. The fried food was crispy, and the cutlet was tender. You can have plenty of cabbage with their original dressing. I was planning to get a rice refill, but after getting more cabbage, I was full. It had been a while, but I was able to enjoy it slowly and deliciously.

One day, when I heard that my family had eaten at Hamakatsu for lunch, I felt a bit frustrated and decided to go there for the first time in a long time. Since the Kurume Uetsu store had closed down, I went to the Yame store which I had never been to before. I arrived around opening time, and even though the parking lot was empty, the open sign was up, so I went in (with one other person). I ordered the cheapest option, the Hamakatsu lunch set for 680 yen. I didn't remember the last time I had eaten at Hamakatsu, but I thought it was a good deal for a delicious tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and it felt like a nostalgic experience to be eating there again. The miso soup was decent, but I wished it was a bit tastier. The tonkatsu came with two types of sauce, and I forgot to ask for extra sesame seeds, which I regretted later. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I enjoyed every bite of the tonkatsu.

It's been a while since I visited Yame. It would have been better if I had a car, but I took a bus from Kurume to Fukushima, and then walked to get around. I arrived in the morning, finished one errand, and was looking for a place to eat before my afternoon appointments, but couldn't find a restaurant easily. I searched on Tabelog and found a ramen shop, an udon shop, and Hamakatsu. Since I had some time, I decided to go to Hamakatsu. Although I rarely visit it in Fukuoka city, I thought it was a valuable restaurant in the countryside. The place was quite crowded inside. I ordered a mixed meal with fried oysters, pork cutlet, and shrimp fry. It arrived in less than 10 minutes. The taste was neither good nor bad, just average. As a side note, there are many small restaurants that are more delicious than here, but the key difference is their marketing power. We must learn why those restaurants are popular even though we think they are not as tasty as ours. On the other hand, the artisan-style restaurants that believe they are better than here do not learn from them. It has become common in tonkatsu restaurants, but being able to have unlimited rice, miso soup, and cabbage is nice. At Hamakatsu, you can choose between red miso and white miso for the miso soup. The salad dressing has also been improved compared to before, which I thought was good. I enjoyed having seconds. I wanted to order coffee after the meal, but it seemed they didn't have it, so I left the restaurant. There really are no places to take a break around here. The customers who came in the afternoon told me that it's rare to see someone like me who came by bus and walked around, but it's true that there aren't many options.

Tonight's dinner was at Hamakatsu. After placing my order, I waited while grinding sesame seeds. The restaurant was filled with families and male customers. I ordered the Rosu and Hire Katsu set meal (1390 yen) today, which allows you to enjoy two types of katsu, making it feel like a good deal. They kindly offer more cabbage when it runs out, which is nice. I had seconds of barley rice and miso soup, and my stomach was full. I might try the 990 yen menu next time. Thank you for the meal.

It's a chain restaurant, but after trying other places, I found that the way they fry their cutlets here is the best. I used to avoid Hamakatsu because I thought it was overpriced and the portions were small, but I decided to give their drive-thru a try out of curiosity. Initially, I ordered a bento box, but now I only get the assorted cutlet set (1500 yen) for takeout. The "tsuki" set includes a huge shrimp fry, 2 cream croquettes, 2 pork cutlets, and 3 chicken cutlets - it's easily enough for 3 people. The downside is that you can't eat them freshly fried, but the breading is still crispy even after reheating in a toaster. They also give you extra sauce if you ask, and if you order extra rice (150 yen) they'll give you a generous portion for 2 people.
