Arrived at the restaurant right at the opening time of 11:30 am, but there was already one group ahead of us. Heard that the tonkatsu here in Furano is delicious, so decided to visit if the timing was right. The tonkatsu was delicious! I prefer the fillet. The sauce was average, I think it could be a bit more elaborate, but the tonkatsu itself was so good that it didn't bother me. I tried the katsudon that day, while my companion had the sukiyaki set. Both dishes are suited for those who enjoy rich flavors.

There is a counter and the interior of the restaurant has a cozy feel. There are also raised seating areas, so it's suitable for families. I had the tonkatsu set meal. It was a generous portion, the meat was tender, and it was really delicious! My friend had the large tonkatsu set meal, and the size of the meat was huge. It might be just right to share one set meal with rice and miso soup as a side dish, especially for women. It was very delicious!

On the way to Furano Ski Resort from the national highway, there is a Japanese-style establishment that exudes a Showa-era vibe called Yamabito. We decided to stop by and try their famous tonkatsu, while I opted for the chicken katsu. Both the tonkatsu set and chicken katsu set were generously portioned, giving off a vibe of "I came here for the tonkatsu!" The tonkatsu was a hit with my companion, who mentioned that the sauce served on the side was not enough. Therefore, I rated the restaurant 4.6, as my companion felt that it fell short of a perfect 5-star rating. Considering that Google's rating was 4.2, I based my rating on that. This is a must-visit spot for tonkatsu enthusiasts. Thank you for the delicious meal.

When staying at a hotel near the Northern Peak, it can be difficult to find nearby dining options. However, this restaurant is a great find. Despite being in a tourist area, it is more affordable than the town's tonkatsu restaurants, yet still serves quality meat. While it may not be as tender as brand pork, the meat pairs well with the sauce provided. If you are visiting the Furano Ski Resort on a tour and staying at the Northern Peak without a car, this restaurant is convenient. Keep in mind that if you prefer tender meat, this may not be the best option for you.

Today is my third post, but it is my first post. This restaurant in Furano is always a top choice when I crave deep-fried dishes like tonkatsu. However, the parking lot in front of the restaurant only fits three cars, so I often have to give up on going. This time, I arrived right after they opened, so I was able to get in without any trouble. I usually order the menchikatsu set, but this time I noticed that you can also order the deep-fried items separately, so I decided to share with a friend. I ordered the menchikatsu separately and the tonkatsu set. The tonkatsu was quite large, and the sauce that came with it was delicious. It was a bit disappointing that some pieces had the breading come off. However, the taste of the meat was very delicious. The menchikatsu was also very tasty as always. It was a quite large piece made with 100% beef, and when you cut into it, the meat juice overflowed. Be careful as it is very hot. My friend had the mixed fry set, which also looked delicious... I will consider trying that next time I visit.

I felt like eating tonkatsu and visited this restaurant. The menu had various options such as katsudon, hot pot, and udon, with tonkatsu available in regular and large sizes. I ordered the Tonkatsu set meal for 1090 yen, which came with tonkatsu, salad, white rice, and miso soup. The tonkatsu was about 20cm x 8cm x 1cm thick, a super jumbo size! It was a good choice not to go for the large size. The meat was a bit tough but had a slight pork flavor. It was a bit disappointing that the breading tended to come off easily. I tried eating it with soy sauce, but it tasted better with the sauce. Getting this much volume for around 1000 yen was great. Thank you for the meal.

On a Sunday lunchtime, I visited a izakaya called "Sanjin" that had caught my attention. I was interested in trying their tonkatsu set meal, so I decided to check it out. The parking seemed to be only in front of the restaurant. I noticed a tonkatsu set meal labeled as "(large)" on the menu for ¥1650. I was intrigued by the size and decided to order it. The restaurant seemed to be run by a couple, and they efficiently served the dishes. The tonkatsu that arrived was quite large, about 150x200x30 in size, making it a bit challenging to pick up with chopsticks. It seemed to be pork loin, and the meat was juicy and tender, with a crispy coating. The meat had little to no odor, and the fat was delicious. I tried dipping it in the sauce provided, and it was a delightful combination of juicy meat and crispy coating. Despite feeling full after the tonkatsu, I didn't experience any heartburn. I look forward to trying other items on the menu. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I used to visit occasionally, but recently it has been full or out of food, so I stayed away for a while. Even on this day, it was almost full, but I was guided to the rare second floor seating. The first floor has counter seats and raised tatami seating, while the second floor has chair table seating. The room on the opposite side of the hall where I was seated seemed to be unused, maybe for banquets. There were two customers before me and four after me, all seemed to be Westerners. In the winter in Furano, there are many foreign visitors who come to ski in the northern peaks. I noticed a slight increase in prices on the menu. Almost all set meals are now over 1,000 yen. Feeling a bit bitter about it, I ordered the minced cutlet set meal for 1,200 yen today. You can get a refill of rice (and maybe miso soup, not confirmed), but considering the crowded conditions and going back and forth to the second floor, I asked for a large portion of rice from the start. There are no photos, but my companion ordered the cutlet hot pot. The hot pot was as usual, but the minced cutlet had a distorted shape and seemed overcooked... when I put my chopsticks in, there was supposed to be a burst of meat juice, but this time there was almost nothing. Hmm. I thought it might be better to come when it's a bit quieter next time. Thank you for the meal.

Furano Ski Resort's Northern Peak area restaurant. It's small and popular, so it fills up quickly. Very popular with young Self-Defense Force members practicing skiing. There is only one cook, so it may take a while to get your food when it's busy. I personally find the ski resort's restaurant mediocre, so if you end up here, consider yourself lucky. Highly recommended.

The main dish at the restaurant was tonkatsu, but I wasn't in the mood for it, so I ordered the sukiyaki set meal and the crab cream croquette set meal. The amount of rice and side dishes was generous, and the cost performance was good. The restaurant is not very big, so it quickly becomes full. It seems like making a reservation would be a good idea. Next time, I want to try the tonkatsu.

Travel in Hokkaido, from New Chitose Airport to Furano!! "Yamato" is a tonkatsu restaurant located on the northern peak across the Sorachi River from the center of Furano, and was featured in the Michelin Guide 2012. Visited in early October for lunch, the interior was slightly chilly with a stove burning. Ordered the "Tonkatsu (large)" from the menu, of course, it was a pork loin cutlet made with local Hokkaido pork. The fox-colored large pork cutlet had a crispy coating and was satisfyingly large. Enjoyed the delicious meal, thank you.

Visited on August 4, 2019, the first day of my trip to Biei and Furano. Ate delicious food, did some sightseeing, checked into the inn, had a light drink in the room, then walked to Sanshin near the inn. We were seated at a sunken kotatsu table and I first ordered a medium-sized beer for myself. Since the temperature that day was 33°C, the beer tasted even better. We then shared green asparagus tempura, cheese omelette, and potato fries among the three of us. My wife had the onigiri (bonito). Everything was delicious, but the green asparagus tempura, delivered directly from a farm in Furano, was exceptionally tasty. It was a bit pricey at ¥880, but the size was generous, fresh, and sweet, making it worth the price. It had been a while since my last visit, but I enjoyed the highly satisfying dishes, drank five medium beers, and then returned to the inn.

Originally, I love tonkatsu. I found a tonkatsu restaurant and really wanted to go, so I took a bus to get there. Sometimes after exercising, I crave something oily. Today, I worked hard skiing. I arrived a little after 5:30 PM, but the restaurant was already full. I was told that they couldn't open the second floor until more staff arrived, but it was below minus 10 degrees outside. Since I didn't have a car, I waited inside. Customers kept coming in one after another. Eventually, a seat opened up and I ordered the tonkatsu set and the menchi katsu set. The menchi katsu was especially delicious! The prices were reasonable as well. However, despite the normal atmosphere of a set meal restaurant, about 80% of the customers were foreigners. The owner and his wife spoke in a foreign language. The staff seemed to be okay with foreign languages. It seems like Furano is benefiting from inbound tourism, but the number of customers seemed overwhelming for the size of the restaurant. I wanted to help with the cleanup... On the way back, the atmosphere in the restaurant had calmed down a bit. I ended up taking a taxi home, and the cost of the meal and transportation were about the same.

Located at the foot of Furano Ski Resort, there are many hotels and guesthouses nearby. It is only a 5-minute walk from Alpine Backpackers where we stayed. It feels more like a local drinking spot than a tourist destination, but they offer authentic Hokkaido dishes that visitors can enjoy.

The shrimp fry was ordinary but the fish fillet was soft and delicious. The crab cream croquette had a good crab flavor and was fluffy.

Arrived at 6:00 PM on a regular day. Lucky to be the second car in the parking lot in front of the store, which can accommodate three cars. The inside of the store has a bright atmosphere with a counter for six people and two tatami rooms, similar to a neighborhood restaurant. Ordered the "Hirekatsu set meal for ¥1490," which came with finely chopped cabbage and eight large pieces of cutlet on the plate. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The sauce was sweet but not overwhelming. Seeing the amount of food for this price, it felt like a great deal. The restaurant was always full with customers coming in one after another, and it was impossible to make a reservation, so I had to give up and go home. The miso soup had a strong flavor with seaweed and tofu, making it a light yet refreshing soup. If this restaurant were in my neighborhood, I would definitely come back.
