After enjoying a pleasant time at "MAMI's Bar," I made my way to a place near Moriguchi Station. It was already past 10:30 pm. There was a snack shop on the corner of the intersection. Neither I nor my Osaka-born friend had heard of this place before. In Osaka, there are countless takoyaki shops, so I guess everyone has their favorite spot. "Ahoya" - a name that might not catch the attention of someone from Kanto like me, but would make a local Osaka resident curious. It seems they have around 60 stores in the Kansai region. Each store may have different menus and prices, but they mainly sell takoyaki and "pecha-yaki." My friend was also unfamiliar with "pecha-yaki." If it had been a regular takoyaki shop, I might have passed by, but the sign for pecha-yaki caught my eye. When I saw the photos outside the shop, I thought it might be like okonomiyaki or tonpeiyaki, but it turned out to be takoyaki (3 pieces) and cheese wrapped in egg and cooked flat. Melty cheese generally goes well with snacks, and the egg technique is similar to tonpeiyaki, and there's octopus in takoyaki, so it's like a fusion of snack foods. Since there was no seating available, I opted for takeout. When I arrived at my friend's place, we immediately tried it. I thought about heating it in the microwave, but surprisingly, it was fine as it was. Of course, it would be delicious when hot as well. You can't expect the crispy texture on the outside like takoyaki, but that's okay. It seemed like there were squid legs inside the takoyaki (lol), but it was tasty. At 250 yen per piece, it's a good option for when you're feeling a bit peckish.

In this shop, they cook takoyaki using two metal skewers. This is an unacceptable act in Osaka. Takoyaki masters are supposed to use only one skewer to cook. I have seen shops in other areas using two skewers, but using two in this area goes against the spirit of Osaka. Such lack of spirit is not acceptable. And they are even doing a live demonstration behind glass. Of course, this demonstration is included in the price. I never expected to come all the way to Osaka and see something so disappointing. By the way, the taste of the takoyaki itself is just average. The price might be a bit high. After all, if you walk to Senbayashi, there is a shop where you can eat for 250 yen inside the store.
