First visit to the popular hormone meat restaurant "Niku Rikiya Tenjin Imaizumi" which opened on May 13, 2023, operated by D.R. Co., Ltd. This restaurant specializes in low-temperature cooked pork hormone sashimi and yakiniku. The Tenjin Imaizumi branch is the 11th branch of Niku Rikiya as a popular hormone meat restaurant, and it seems to be expanding rapidly with more branches opening. By the way, there is a restaurant called "Bar Michi" on the 1st floor of Yodobashi Camera at Hakata Station, which is also operated by D.R. Co., Ltd. There are only these two stores in Kyushu, but I really like Bar Michi and have visited it several times, so my expectations for this company and its brands are quite high, which is why I decided to visit this restaurant. The location is along Imaizumi Park West Street, just one street west of Imaizumi Park Street. If you come from the Kokutai Road side, turn south from the corner where Matsumotokiyoshi is located and walk for a while on the right side, and you will find the restaurant on the 1st floor of a dining building called i.CUBE where Yowaen is located on the 2nd floor. I parked my car in the coin parking lot on the opposite side and walked to the front of the restaurant. As soon as I entered, I saw a counter seat, an open kitchen on the left side, and table seats at the back. The overall atmosphere is retro Showa style, with posters on the walls and a color scheme that reminds me of old TV shows or movies. I was seated at a table in the middle and immediately looked at the menu. As I heard before, the prices for pork hormones are incredibly cheap. There are a wide variety of cuts, including some I had never heard of, as well as beef and chicken, and side dishes. The drinks menu is also extensive, and the overall pricing is very affordable. Moreover, there are special deals on Meat Day and birthdays. I asked the staff for recommendations and ordered one dish after another. There were dipping sauces and yannyeonjang on the table, and the yannyeonjang was spicy and delicious. First, I had the cabbage appetizer. It costs 350 yen, but it comes with dressing and you can have unlimited refills for free, which I think is great for a yakiniku restaurant. Next was the Fresh Offal Assortment. This included low-temperature cooked pork hormones, from left to right: heart, stomach, and salted tongue with green onions. I tried them with ginger soy sauce, spicy vinegar miso, and salted green onions, and they were incredibly delicious. The price of 690 yen including tax was shocking. Next was the Pork Tongue Yukhoe. This was also made with low-temperature cooked pork tongue and was very delicious. The tongue itself was tasty, and the seasoning or sauce was also great. The Beef White Tripe Sashimi was cut in a generous way, and at 490 yen, it was cheap. The Niku Rikiya's Potato Salad had cornflakes on top and was well-seasoned with mayonnaise, making it a solid and flavorful dish for 390 yen. The Beef Tendon with Ponzu Sauce was also quite large, with tender tendons and a generous amount of daikon and ponzu sauce, making it delicious. The Kimchi at Niku Rikiya was a bit like lightly pickled vegetables, but it had a rich flavor and was great as a snack, as well as with yakiniku or rice. I ended up ordering more later on. The Namul Assortment had a good amount and a nice crispy texture, for 390 yen. The Green Onion Munchee was green onions mixed in a delicious sauce, which was great with yakiniku or as a side dish. And the Manga Rice Bowl. This was a 1kg bowl of rice, priced at 830 yen, which seemed cheap for 1kg. The rice itself was delicious, so I ended up ordering more. The Solontang Soup was made from boiled beef bones and meat, giving it a unique beef flavor. It was very delicious. And the specialty Meat Assortment. From left to right: tongue, cheeks, heart, and skirt meat. The thick-cut pork and hormone meat were delicious, and we grilled them all. The tabletop grill was gas-powered, but the thick iron plate allowed the meat to cook evenly without burning the surface. *Of course, you need to move it around occasionally, or it will burn.
