I'm not a fan of waiting in line, so I always think about how to avoid queuing and still enjoy a meal at a "popular restaurant". This time, for a solo Sunday lunch, I visited a branch of the famous Sendai restaurant "Gyutan Jin" in Osaka, which has only been open for a few months. The restaurant was located in a relatively quiet area with hardly any people around, making it easy to miss among the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood. The interior was clean and modern with a touch of Japanese classical style. I ordered the Gyutan (beef tongue) set meal which came with rice and Gyutan soup for 1650 yen. The Gyutan soup was flavorful and the Gyutan itself was incredibly tender and delicious. It was one of the softest Gyutan I have ever had, which is why it stands out among other Sendai restaurants. Despite the disappointment of the slightly overcooked rice, the overall experience was great. I enjoyed a glass of red wine that I received as a gift for checking in on social media, and spent about two hours savoring the tenderness of the Gyutan. It was a delightful Sunday lunch experience.

As I was walking down Kyu-Saemoncho Street, I stumbled upon a sign for Gyutan (beef tongue) and decided to visit Gyutan Sumibiyaki Jin, the Osaka branch of a Sendai-style Gyutan restaurant. I ordered the Gyutan set meal with 3 pieces (6 slices) of tongue. Unfortunately, they had run out of their signature tail soup, so they offered grated yam as a substitute. The presentation was a bit lacking, but the tongue was delicious, with a nice cut and taste.
