This is a restaurant located about a 10-minute walk from Osaka Umeda Station (in Doyama-cho). Three engineering staff members visited without a reservation on a weekend evening. It was their first visit and the restaurant was almost full. They tried the recommended specialty dish, fried daikon for 450 yen, and found it delicious. They also enjoyed chicken thigh tempura for 650 yen, tonpeiyaki (pork omelette) for 580 yen, all while sipping on highballs. It was a satisfying meal.

Kumamoto cuisine is served at a shochu bar with a wide variety of shochu options, which makes it enjoyable! The food menu is limited, but the appetizers are well-prepared and delicious. The portion sizes are a bit small, which is a shame. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the staff are all very friendly, making it a fun time! Thank you for the meal!

On a business trip to Osaka, we went to Umeda. Today, I enjoyed all-you-can-drink sake at "Umeda Nihonshu New Ebisu" with my drinking buddies in Osaka, and then we headed to "Shochu Bar Bar Takou" for the second round. It's been over 10 years since I last visited this place. I even forgot that I had been here before (laughs). First, I tried the B set for comparing shochu (playing with different types of sweet potatoes): - Takarayama Ayamurasaki (Ayamurasaki) - Yamaneko (Joy White) - Kaikouzu (Kuri Kogane) With side dishes like sweet potato tempura and shumai. Then, I tried Rurikakesu (Japanese rum) and Muroka Rihachi, and that's how our drinking night ended.

When I feel like drinking shochu, I always come to this place. They have a wide variety of shochu lined up, and the atmosphere is cozy. The best part is the enjoyable conversations with the master, which always make me stay longer than planned. Today, I tried the master's special "Napolitan spaghetti," and it was delicious. While waiting for it, I sipped on Kenhachi's junmai on the rocks. The Napolitan dish gave me a nostalgic feeling and made me feel warm inside. Sprinkling Parmesan cheese and a bit of Tabasco on top added richness that paired well with the shochu. With a satisfied stomach, I enjoyed chatting with the master over a glass in hand. Another night of being fully content. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

For shochu lovers, this is an irresistible shop! Located on a street in Higashi-Umeda lined with restaurants, it modestly stands out. It's as if it's calling out to foodies and drinkers alike. I couldn't just pass by when I discovered this place. Upon entering, I saw shelves lined with bottles of shochu covering one wall of the shop. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying a drink. I was seated at the counter and looked over the menu, but of course, it had to be shochu! I wanted to savor the aroma and aftertaste of shochu, so unless there's a good reason not to, I prefer it on the rocks. As for shochu pairings, horse sashimi seemed like a good choice! I also tried the chicken nanban, which was delicious and homemade by the master. There are plenty of premium shochu options here, making it difficult to decide. Every time I visit, the complimentary dish is different but always complements the shochu perfectly. (The master makes them fresh every day!) As the drinks flowed, the conversation also became lively, and the friendly talk from the master was very enjoyable. There were so many other shochu options I wanted to try, so I definitely want to visit this place again. Thank you for the meal.

I visit this place regularly ^ ^ It's a shop run by a quirky owner who is passionate about shochu. They have around 200 types of shochu and you can enjoy a fun time chatting with the eccentric owner about shochu.

The rich and spicy motsu (offal) hot pot for 1400 yen, Chinese noodles for 350 yen, and zosui (rice porridge) for 350 yen were delicious. The fish in the photo was also tasty. This place seems to be a shochu (Japanese distilled spirit) bar, but unfortunately, I'm not a fan of shochu. I enjoyed beer and white wine instead. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice.

Visited in early June 2017, a 7-minute walk from Hankyu Umeda Station. Located between HEP5 and Hankyu Men's Building, it was quite easy to find. A large white lantern with red letters that read "Shochu Bar Takou"! Very easy to spot. The entrance is lined with shochu bottles. Inside the store, there are rows of 1.8 liter bottles, which is quite impressive. The majority of the shochu available is made from sweet potatoes. They have around 300 different types of shochu. I wanted to try their specialty dish, "Fried Daikon". When you eat it, the daikon's broth overflows in your mouth, it's amazing! This juiciness is achieved by carefully simmering and then frying the daikon with kombu and bonito broth. I ordered potato salad, and it was served in a surprising way, very unique! My partner, who loves sweet potato shochu, was very satisfied with the shochu tasting experience. Despite being a shochu bar, I stuck to red wine and highballs as usual. We also tried the special black pork that was raised on shochu lees, and a pork shabu salad. There are plenty of Kyushu's specialty dishes such as satsuma-age, kibinago sashimi, and horse sashimi to enjoy. The sashimi of kibinago brought back memories. We also had mountain udo with pork miso. The chicken nanban was also delicious. The interior of the restaurant is stylish, with a counter where even solo female diners were spotted. The owner kindly explained the shochu and dishes to us. I was impressed by the depth of shochu.

I was recommended this bar by a local, who said, "This place is delicious and has a wide variety of shochu, it's a lot of fun." I decided to visit and the experience did not disappoint.
**Shochu:** As the name suggests, this bar has an incredible selection of shochu. There are so many types available that they cannot all be listed on the menu. Surprisingly, despite being a shochu bar, there is no shochu menu. Instead, you can either tell the staff your preferences and have them recommend a shochu for you, or you can choose one yourself from the labels displayed on the shelf. This system may be a bit inconvenient for some, but it does make trying new shochu varieties more exciting.
**Food:** I ordered the beef miso, horse sashimi, and the "Second Generation Shrimp Mayo." All of them were delicious, but the standout dish was definitely the "Second Generation Shrimp Mayo." It features plump shrimp, fresh vegetables, and a generous serving of special mayo on a plate of shrimp chips. It's a visually stunning dish that I will definitely order again.
Overall, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was perfect for a leisurely drink. The only minor downside was that the bar reached capacity with 20-30 people, causing the staff to seem a bit overwhelmed. However, given the personalized shochu selection process, it may be challenging to improve the speed of service. Nonetheless, with a bit of patience, this bar is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink.

I love shochu, so I asked for a recommendation for a place with a lot of shochu. The moment I walked into the restaurant, it felt like paradise. Of course, I headed to the counter to talk about shochu. It was quite empty, but there were a few regulars here and there. I started with a shochu and soda instead of beer. The food options were surprisingly diverse, but I wished there were more authentic choices to pair with the drinks. I was asked to choose my shochu from the menu on the wall and I selected a few. The glasses were lovely and had a nice touch. However, when I asked for something heavier next time, the bartender said, "I don't drink much shochu." Oh no! The atmosphere wasn't very conducive for shochu advice, so I ended up selecting on my own. The variety of shochu was impressive and I would like to go back again. I rated it 4 stars because I understand the effort it takes to have such a selection. The prices may be a bit high per glass, but if there were more food options, it would be even better.

Today's single man went to "Shochu BAR Takou" after a big party with colleagues and then with friends in Doyama, Umeda. This place is a bar that I wanted to visit once I saw it online. Inside, it has a nice atmosphere with a wall full of shochu! They have 450 types of shochu. I tried a few kinds of shochu, but I was already quite drunk, so I don't remember what I ordered (crying). While drinking shochu, I sent a "summoning order" to my bad friends! Somehow, four bad friends gathered and we played mahjong until morning. Ah, I'm so exhausted...

At first glance, it looks like an izakaya, but this shop mainly serves shochu and plum wine. They always have popular brands like "Rokudaime Yuri," "Sagara Hyoroku," and "Kenhachi" in stock, so I go there occasionally. However, if you're not interested in shochu, I wouldn't recommend it. The variety of dishes is not that wide, and it feels a bit on the expensive side. If you want to eat while drinking, there are plenty of other good restaurants nearby. This place is best for those who want to enjoy a little bit of food with their shochu.

The master was very friendly. They had an extensive selection of shochu, making it hard to decide what to drink...haha. But when I told the master what kind of alcohol I usually drink, they recommended a great one to me. As expected, it was delicious, so I want to go back again. The tomato hot pot was spicy and the cheese risotto for the finish was excellent. The hot pot was meant for one person, but the finish was so good that we ended up ordering two servings.

This is a quiet and cozy place just a little off the main street of Hankyu Higashidori. I like to sit at the counter and chat with the friendly master. The atmosphere is great for when you want to relax and have a quiet conversation. The food is creative dishes made by a chef with a background in French cuisine. In the winter, I enjoy their motsunabe, which comes in tomato and traditional flavors, both delicious. This is a recommended spot for when you want to unwind and enjoy a leisurely drink.

The selection of shochu at this store is amazing. Even if you don't know much about shochu, if you tell them your preferences, they will recommend a few for you. You might discover new shochu brands you like. I don't have high expectations for the food, so I usually use this place as a second stop, and only add the cost of one dish to my total bill. Maybe I'm drinking too much...^_^; There is also a counter, so there were a few solo customers as well as groups.

Upon entering the store, you will see a wall lined with one-liter bottles of shochu. They are divided by raw materials, so you can either tell them your preferences and have them choose for you, or you can browse and pick your favorite. They have all the major brands, as well as many rare ones you may have never seen before, which makes choosing quite enjoyable. In addition to shochu, they also have a wide selection of plum wine and fruit liquor that girls may like. The food is quite delicious as well, making it a nice place to visit. This is a recommended spot for shochu enthusiasts who enjoy trying out different types of shochu.

I came to this shop with a friend who loves shochu. There is also a shop called "Akatsuki" nearby with a wide selection of shochu, making it a fierce battleground for shochu lovers. There are plenty of shochu bottles displayed from the entrance to the inside of the shop, but they don't seem to be listed much on the menu. It seems better to request your favorite shochu. There were tempting dishes like horse sashimi, but I was already full this time so I just had shochu. Next time, I would like to try the food as well.
