I thought it would still be delicious like an ice cream puff, but it wasn't as sweet as everyone said. The pastry wasn't crispy, and the custard inside was lightly sweet. Maybe it would have been better to let it thaw at room temperature before eating. Hirota's cream puffs are actually sweeter! The next day, I tried a different flavor. The cream was not frozen and was creamy. The burnt chocolate had a strong chocolate flavor, but the outer pastry felt like a chunk of sugar in my mouth, and it might have been better without the sugar coating. The apple custard puff had a hint of apple flavor, but something was missing from all of them. They all had a somewhat unsatisfying taste. Convenience store cream puffs might be tastier...

I went out to East Osaka for some errands and found a souvenir to buy on my way back. The main store seemed to be making them in the back! Maybe freshly made?! There were various items lined up in the showcase, making it hard to choose. There were many popular Maritozzo items, which got me excited! This time, I visited "Baked Magic Headquarters Sweets Lab" in Higashi Osaka Nagata. The location is within walking distance from Nagata Station on the Osaka Municipal Subway. They open at 10:00, and although the main cream puffs were not ready yet, there was no wait, so I bought a Maritozzo. ① Creamy Maritozzo - 330 yen → A small bread with a cut filled with plenty of whipped cream. The bread is soft and fluffy, with a simple taste that is not very sweet. The whipped cream is fluffy, milky, and slightly sweet with a rich density. A classic choux cream that doesn't try to be fancy. The shop is located next to the factory, and this was my first time, so I bought the regular choux cream. But they also have factory-exclusive products, such as items with imperfect shapes or only one layer of cream instead of two, which you can buy at a discounted price. Next time, I plan to buy some of these discounted items.

I discovered a shop called Baked Magic in Higashi-Osaka City, which has a store in Kanayama Asunar. I bought their popular condensed milk roll cake. The cake was fluffy, and the cream inside had a distinct condensed milk flavor with a mild sweetness.

I visited Baked Magic's Sweets Lab because I had some errands nearby and had been curious about it for a while. It was a quiet road near a warehouse or building on a Saturday afternoon around 3:00. When I turned the corner at Lawson, I found the shop. Unlike Takao Chocolate, where there was always a long line even before opening, this place had a relaxed atmosphere with only about two groups of customers. On that day, the Baumkuchen was half price at 432 yen. There was also a 100g pack of broken chocolate cheesecake rusk for 270 yen (with samples available). The fresh sweets were available as usual, but there were also discounted frozen items like a collection of roll cake ends for 432 yen. The cream puffs were also half price. I decided to buy a 100 yen cream puff and the chocolate cheesecake rusk to take home. The rusk can last for about 4 months, so I plan to enjoy it slowly. The taste was good, nothing extraordinary, but if I happen to be in the area again, I might go back for more.

I bought one for myself, and my partner got the Caramel Milk flavor. My partner found it too sweet, while I thought it was okay but still quite sweet. The choux pastry was soft and slightly thick, with a double cream filling of whipped cream and caramel cream. I tried the Fresh Chocolate Milk Choux, which had a slightly bitter choux pastry that balanced the sweetness of the cream. Overall, both cream puffs were overly sweet and the cream was too heavy. I prefer simpler cream puffs.
