Located right by the subway connection at Ginza Matsuya, this Western confectionery shop stands in front of the sweets corner. It is a unique shop in Fukuoka with a vibrant color scheme of white, red-pink, and green, overseen by Mr. Votier, a consultant from the renowned Parisian pastry shop "Boissier." I was looking for a chocolate cake and decided to purchase one as it was reasonably priced. I was impressed by the detailed description of the cakes displayed in the showcase. I chose the chocolate mousse cake "Rive D'Or (\1995)." The cake was mainly mousse-based, with a variety of chocolates and baked goods available for sale. It had a chocolate piece and chocolate puffs on top. Inside, there was sponge cake with caramel mousse sandwiched between layers of chocolate mousse. The mousse was rich and velvety, with a surprisingly light finish. The caramel flavor was subtle, and I wished for a bit more uniqueness. The moist sponge cake had a strong presence and complemented the mousse well. However, the overly sweet chocolate sauce on top disrupted the balance of sweetness. Despite this, the high-quality mousse made me want to try their popular "Violette (\546)" as well. Overall, it was a delicious experience, and I look forward to visiting again.

I love macarons @ Christian Vautier The other day, I was wandering around the Ginza department store basement after a long time, and I found some delicious-looking macarons! I couldn't miss this opportunity! So, I got Christian Vautier's macarons, which come in a box of 8. Sesame: A rich sesame paste filling, perfect for sesame lovers. Chocolate x Berry: Chocolate macaron with berry cream inside, a classic and delicious combination. Rose: Soft and fragrant rose-flavored macaron, perfect for rose lovers. Yuzu Lemon: Thought it was lemon at first, but it turned out to be yuzu. The fragrance of yuzu was wonderful and paired well with hojicha. Berry x Chocolate: Berry macaron with chocolate spice filling, a slightly mature flavor. Apricot: A subtle egg-like taste, didn't feel much of the apricot though. Pistachio: Rich and delicious pistachio, a must-try for pistachio lovers. Vanilla x Passion Fruit: Vanilla macaron with passion fruit cream inside, the acidity of passion fruit adds a nice touch. All the combinations are interesting, and eating them without knowing which is which is like playing Russian roulette. They also had individual flavors like strawberry x balsamic and salted chocolate, which I'm curious about and would like to try next time. Thank you for the meal.

In a corner of the Matsuya Ginza department store's basement, there is a sweets shop with colorful chocolates and macarons that caught the attention of our sweets-loving guy. After much deliberation, we purchased three cakes. However, once again, I forgot to jot down the names of the cakes! I apologize for that. The yellow cake had a tropical fruit flavor, with hints of passion fruit and mango, refreshing and not too sweet, perfect for summer. The caramel-colored cake was supposed to have an Earl Grey flavor, but we couldn't taste the tea at all, instead, it had a strong unique taste of alcohol. Since we don't really enjoy strong alcohol flavors, this cake was a bit too mature for our liking. The last cake was a Chocolate Mont Blanc, another adult-like dessert with a hint of alcohol. The sponge was a bit dry. The price was around 450 yen each. They also had a good selection of chocolates, macarons, and ganache. They are originally from Fukuoka and have a cute logo that would appeal to women.
