I found this izakaya in Kyoto city near Hankyu Saiin Station. I visited for the first time on a holiday night. I was able to make a reservation by phone on the same day. The seats were almost full, and several walk-in customers were turned away, so making a reservation is recommended. The restaurant is a medium-sized place with a counter in the shape of a "C". We ordered homemade lemoncello, bottled beer, a sashimi platter with yellowtail, salmon, and cod milt. The salmon came in two parts with a surprise of salmon roe. We also had a platter with camembert cheese, duck, chicken wings, bacon, sausages, quail, bamboo shoots, salted mackerel, and pickled radish. Everything was delicious with a smoky flavor. We also had potato salad with plenty of ham and eggs, garlic fried in oil, a large crab cream croquette served hot, and crispy fried squid. We finished with a special egg over rice dish. The total bill for two people was 5990 yen. Everything was very delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. The service was quick, and I would definitely like to visit again.

The dishes were all unique and delicious! The portion sizes were small and easy to eat, the prices were not high, and we could order a variety of dishes which made it very enjoyable. The drinks were also unique and made me want to try different ones. The restaurant is small and a bit cramped. It depends on luck whether there will be available seats.

As soon as I left Hankyu Nishinomiya Station, I arrived at Kashiwo Shokudo, which had a very nice atmosphere with a traditional curtain hanging at the entrance. The dishes prepared by the manager, who had a refined demeanor, were all delicious. The smoked platter was just right in terms of smokiness, and it went well with beer. I particularly liked the bamboo shoots. The assorted sashimi was fresh and tasty, served as one piece per portion. The hamo (pike conger) with plum paste was refreshing and delicious. The salmon in the fresh spring rolls paired well with the sauce. The cold tofu with wasabi soy sauce was light and had a subtle flavor that spread in the mouth. The drool chicken with a hint of sansho pepper in the spicy sauce was great, perfect for enjoying with beer. Starting with this dish and beer in the summer would be nice. The white broth ramen with smoked bacon was delicious and served as a perfect ending to the meal. I finished it in no time.

I ordered daikon for 150 yen, konjac for 100 yen, skewered minced meat for 200 yen, skewered cartilage for 150 yen, deep-fried celery for 700 yen, smoked Camembert and bacon, and mini potato salad for 250 yen. The deep-fried celery had a nice spice to it and was delicious. The daikon in the oden was a bit lukewarm. The rest was just average. It wasn't as cheap as I had hoped.

Kashiobeya is a pioneering modern standing bar in Kyoto, located in Saiin. The owner, Eric, who loves dirty jokes, food, and Mr. Children, was not there when I visited for the first time. The atmosphere was lively with regular customers and staff chatting happily. I tried the recommended dishes - the Shirako Ponzu (milt with ponzu sauce) seemed a bit early in the season but was still enjoyable with grated daikon and condiments. The smoked beef tongue was a bit disappointing, as the quality of the meat greatly affects the taste of smoked dishes. However, the chicken sashimi was amazing - fresh, large, and great value for money. The beer was a bit pricey but the Heartland draft was generously poured. I was happy to see that Eric had reopened the business after the state of emergency, as he had emphasized the importance of following the rules during that time. I will definitely visit again.

On March 14th (my birthday), I went to the third restaurant, Kasuo Shokudo. Even though it was the third stop, the food here is so good that I couldn't resist. I think the quality here is better than going to expensive places. The dishes are really delicious! I had vegetable bagna cauda, tripe in tomato sauce, and clam and rapeseed flower risotto with red wine. During the meal, my friend called and surprised me with a bottle of wine as a birthday gift. I am truly grateful. Thank you very much. After that, we moved to the usual "Wandering Canteci" inside the Origami Kaikan and had a birthday party.

Kashiwo Shokudo in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto (Hankyu Nishiin) offers a delicious smoked dish with a great aroma and texture - a platter of smoked sandfish, duck meat, and beef tongue. Enjoy it with potato fries, craft beer, Indian Blue Demon, and Kyushu CRAFT Hyuganatsu. The restaurant has recently moved from a standing bar to a seated one. #KashiwoShokudo #Nishiin #NishiojiShijo #NishiojiStreet #restaurant #smokeddish #craftbeer #izakaya #KyotoGourmet #KyotoFoodWalk #LoveGreenMan #LoveSun #alphabet #let'seatKyotoinLoveSun

On the 28th, we went to Kashiwo Shokudo for our fourth stop of the day. It's a restaurant affiliated with Kashiwo Saketen nearby, and it opened this year. The chef's cooking is highly praised for being delicious. They offer various dishes such as smoked foods, warm vegetables, and pasta. Despite usually watching my calorie intake, I couldn't resist the raisin butter. The penne was also delicious, and the warm vegetables were amazing. Thank you as always.

Located near Hankyu Nishinomiya Station, Kasuo Shokudo is a popular standing bar owned by the Origami Kaikan, Kasuo Saketen. The interior has a U-shaped counter with 18 seats. You can enjoy craft beer while watching the handsome chef cook. The food is surprisingly well-prepared, as expected from professionals. The dishes we had in order were: homemade smoked assorted platter, aged salmon carpaccio, saury pate, seasonal vegetable bagna cauda, lamb curry with couscous, penne arrabbiata, and Thai-style super spicy tsukune. The aged salmon carpaccio was particularly impressive with its sauce of apple vinegar and grated apple combined with basil oil. The lamb curry stood out with its distinctive use of herbs and spices, while the penne arrabbiata, made with homemade salted pork, had a light tomato flavor with the sweetness and umami of aromatic vegetables. This authentic and delicious restaurant in Nishinomiya is highly recommended for those looking for a great izakaya experience.

Opened in April 2019, the second branch of Kashiobu Saketen. Despite being called the second branch, the owner Eric is mainly at this shop, so it may be considered the flagship store. With extensive experience working at an Italian restaurant, the owner offers a menu mainly focused on Italian dishes such as pasta, risotto, carpaccio, frittata, caponata, and caprese, along with some izakaya-style dishes like fried chicken that are popular in the Nishijin area. Located in the Nishijin area where casual dining establishments are abundant, the charm of this place lies in its high quality food at reasonable prices. The drink menu includes craft beer, wine, whiskey, shochu, chu-hai, and even rare items like Moet & Chandon or Veuve Clicquot champagne for special occasions. Recently, the restaurant tends to get crowded around 6-9 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If it's your first visit, it's recommended to make a reservation or arrive right at the opening time at 5 pm. The Kashiobu Group has been around for over 5 years, including the previous Kashiobu Saketen era. This review is from a regular customer who hopes that the second branch, Kashiobu Shokudo, will break the stereotype of being a delicious yet always crowded and hard-to-enter restaurant.

The popular standing bar Kashiwao Saketen has opened a sit-down restaurant. It has been a few months already, but as expected, word of mouth spreads quickly for popular places. Just like when it was a sake shop, the bistro-style or Spanish bar-like Western-style appetizers are incredibly delicious, and it seems to be the foundation of this dining establishment. The owner wears a chef's coat and stands behind the counter. The counter is spacious and clean, allowing for large plates to be displayed. They have a variety of smoked dishes, so I ordered a smoked trio platter and pickles. I also had a Red Shiso Shochu Highball. They also offer whiskey and other drinks. The Red Shiso Shochu Highball was a bit sweet, so I ordered two rounds of the 300 yen refill highball. Even so, the Red Shiso flavor still lingers, so adding the refill highball is a good idea. The smoked dishes were duck, pork, and cheese, if I remember correctly. They come with lemon, and smoked dishes with lemon are a great combination. I love lemon, so I put it on everything, but this was a new discovery. The pickles are a nice little side dish with a pleasant acidity.

I visited this place alone on a whim. It's a popular branch of Kashio Saketen, and here you can sit down. It's hard to get into the other place, so I usually just pass by with my fingers crossed. It was pretty empty when I arrived, but customers started coming in one after another. Maybe it's a good idea to come early? I had a Heartland beer (480 yen) and ordered some Potato Salad (380 yen), Assorted Smoked Meats (680 yen), and Tripe (500 yen). Since it was my first stop, I kept it light. The smoked meats were beef tongue, duck, and Ooyama Jidori chicken, with rich and delicious flavors. The potato salad was chunky and just how I like it. The tripe had a strong garlic flavor, was tender, and not at all smelly. I finished off with a plain shochu highball and a shiso highball. Just like the main branch, the food here was consistently delicious. It's a convenient place to eat and relax. I might want to try the standing bar next time if I can get in. Overall, it was a great experience. Thank you for the meal.

This place opened about two weeks ago. It's the second branch of Kasuo Saketen, a standing bar located in the Origami Kaikan building. I was told by someone that it used to be a sushi restaurant, and there are still remnants of it, like the sushi case. The place only has a counter, but the tables are spacious and comfortable. They offer four types of craft beer and Heartland beer. Since it was my first stop of the day, I started with Heartland beer. I wanted some light snacks, so I ordered smoked firefly squid, broccoli and eryngii mushrooms with anchovy, and tomato-stewed tripe. The firefly squid was deliciously firm even when smoked. The anchovy dish had a strong flavor, so I ordered a gin rickey after finishing my beer. The tripe had a rich and deep flavor, and it was tender. The counter area used to be the kitchen, but the space is wide, and there are various things placed in front, so you can enjoy drinking alone without feeling awkward. I look forward to coming back next time to try their pate, meat dishes, and wine. It's great to have such a lovely new place near the station in Saiin. It's a hidden gem for the locals.

There is a shop behind Hankyu Electric Railway's Nishi-Iin Station. Inside the shop, there is a large counter seat in a horseshoe shape. The menu offers a variety of beers and wines at reasonable prices. The dishes that go well with wine are also reasonably priced. There is a wide range of smoked dishes, including meat and fish, as well as daily specials. This time, I had pate and red wine. You can order wine by the glass or bottle without any fuss, just ask the owner for recommendations. It would be nice to see more of these kinds of shops opening up.

It's a small shop with just a counter, but they offer a variety of delicious dishes! Since it's counter seating only, it's best to visit with one or two people!

Kashio Sake Store, which is a standing bar, was impossible to get into at all. So, I came here to try it out. I'm curious about the standing bar. Thank you for the meal~.

The atmosphere, food, and drinks are all above just right, giving a feeling of choosing quality over quantity, especially for someone in their 40s. The interior is clean and the hygiene standards are higher than just right. If there's a restaurant like this near the station, I would definitely become a regular customer. I would stop by even by myself for the assorted appetizers and drinks.
