On this day, I had lunch at Aromas of India 2.0, an Indian restaurant located on the second floor of Kagurazaka Porta near the Kagurazaka Shita intersection. Afterwards, I searched for a sweets shop around this area where I could also stop by, and the only one that I had not visited yet was this one. As I walked from the Kagurazaka Shita intersection towards Ichigaya along Sotobori Street, I soon found it just before Tokyo University of Science. It was around 12 o'clock, and there were no other customers in the store, and no staff in sight. However, as soon as I entered the store, a young female staff member, who seemed like a student part-timer, and then a senior female staff member came out from the back. The young female staff member was very new to working at the store and had a very fresh and innocent demeanor. The senior female staff member watched over her warmly and gave advice as needed. It was a heartwarming scene that made me feel warm inside. This store offers a selection of chocolates, but primarily sells them by weight. I told them my budget and got an estimate of the quantity, then chose four chocolates from the dozens of varieties in the showcase. It was cheaper than I expected, totaling 728 yen (including tax). It's not a bad idea to treat yourself to such fancy chocolates occasionally, not just receive them on Valentine's Day. While enjoying the sophisticated Belgian chocolates, I reminisced about the times I visited Belgium on business trips. Here are the chocolates I chose: - Cool Rose: A heart-shaped white chocolate with raspberry ganache inside, flavored with raspberry and wrapped in white chocolate. It had a perfect harmony of sweetness from the white chocolate and the tartness of the raspberry ganache. - Fine Orange: A round chocolate with chocolate cream flavored with orange liqueur, wrapped in dark chocolate and decorated with white chocolate. Although the chocolate itself was delicious, the strong flavor of the dark chocolate overpowered the orange flavor of the chocolate cream inside, and the alcohol from the liqueur was barely noticeable. - Duet: A prism-shaped chocolate with strawberry ganache flavored with balsamic vinegar, wrapped in dark chocolate. The strawberry ganache had a distinct strawberry flavor and the acidity of balsamic vinegar, providing a nice contrast with the bitterness of the dark chocolate. - Dolce de Leche & Café: A heart-shaped blonde chocolate with dulce de leche cream flavored with coffee inside. While tasty, the caramel flavor of the blonde chocolate overshadowed the coffee flavor of the dulce de leche cream inside, which was a bit disappointing.

This year's Valentine's chocolate was from here. It's a trusted brand from Belgium, so you can't go wrong. The Valentine's edition was full of love with heart shapes, so I decided to pass on that. I chose the standard 6-piece set instead.

Leonidas chocolates are luxurious, but one piece can heal and soothe the tiredness of the day. This time, I tried the Noisette Masc. It was delicious with rich chocolate containing hazelnuts! It's also well-received as a gift.

You can use Leonidas as a gift, souvenir, or for Valentine's Day when you want to give something to someone special, except in the summer. I recommend the Maron Roiar, which is a large, white, rectangular chocolate. The pistachio flavor is also delicious, and in general, all of their chocolates are tasty.

I couldn't make it home for White Day due to work, so I wandered around Kagurazaka in Tokyo looking for something to buy. I came across a Belgian chocolate shop and decided to go in. I bought a box of 6 truffles for 1200 yen, which I heard is used by the royal family. I got two boxes, and at home, I had one of the bitter ones. There were three types - bitter, milk, and champagne. I preferred the light and less sweet taste of the bitter one. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I usually don't buy sweets for myself, but sometimes I feel like treating myself. In these moments, Leonidas seems to have the perfect balance of a nice shop and a good selection. I actually bought some during Valentine's season (although I ate it recently), so it might have been a limited edition. The cute heart-shaped chocolates with berry flavors made me feel luxurious. The Pentacle box is also adorable, making me want to keep it as a special treat. Sometimes, I just feel like doing something like this.

I have been a fan of this place for quite some time now. They sell chocolates imported from Belgium. In the original Belgian stores, they also serve delicious chocolate drinks. With Valentine's Day approaching, I decided to stop by after a long time. The variety of chocolates hasn't changed much, with a few new additions to the regular items. There are so many options to choose from that it can be overwhelming. While they do offer boxed assortments, I always prefer to pick out individual pieces. The prices are based on grams, with around 1200 yen for 100g. I tried four items this time:
- Manon Café: A white coffee-flavored fresh cream topped with roasted hazelnuts, all wrapped in white chocolate. This is their most popular item, and my personal favorite. The mocha cream inside is smooth and delicious.
- Egina Pistachio: Buttercream coated in milk chocolate, topped with crushed pistachios. The pistachio flavor adds a subtle sophistication to it.
- Truffle Coconut: A truffle with a creamy white chocolate center coated in coconut and milk chocolate. The coconut flakes provide a nice touch.
- Bergamot: Caramel cream with bergamot citrus flavor inside milk chocolate, with the Leonidas logo. The combination of bergamot and caramel creates a complex flavor.
I purchased four pieces for a little over 700 yen this time. Compared to high-end chocolatiers, you can get quality chocolates here at a more affordable price. If you buy a small quantity, they won't put it in a box, but it's not an issue for home consumption. The Manon Café is a must-try for its deliciousness!

After spending a relaxing time at the Agnes Hotel Tea Lounge, I passed by here. Since I hadn't bought any sweets souvenirs yet, I chose this place. They had sets for sale, but I decided to pick out each piece myself. I love pralines, so I chose two different types of pralines, and I also like liquor-infused sweets, so I picked cherry and brandy flavors (even though I'm not good with alcohol). I savored each piece carefully. This time I only made a modest purchase, but I thought it would be nice to buy a lot for a special occasion and enjoy them while pondering. Thank you for the delicious treats!

Located a little off the main street from the Kagurazaka-shita intersection towards Ichigaya, you will find the small Belgian chocolate shop, Leonidas. Although a bit pricey, each chocolate is unique and of high quality. They mainly sell chocolates by weight, but they also have assorted gift boxes available.
★ Manon Café (second from the front in the bottom row)
A white chocolate filled with coffee cream and hazelnuts, the coffee aroma spreads as soon as you bite into it. It is very creamy with a nice texture.
★ Orangette (second and third photos)
A bitter chocolate with a high cocoa content wrapped around orange puree. The chocolate is not too sweet, and the slight sweetness and aroma of the orange puree create a perfect balance. It may look a bit grotesque, but once you start eating it, you won't be able to stop.
★ Sugar-Free (second from the front in the top row)
Chocolate made without sugar, using malt extract for sweetness. It has a very gentle taste.
★ Forever (pink wrapping)
Heart-shaped pralines with a milk aroma, a sweet chocolate.
★ Truffles (at the four corners of the box)
Creamy filling that melts and oozes out, with a velvety cream. Coconut, pistachio, orange, each one elegantly crafted. Personally, I think these chocolates are great for gifting. If you receive this chocolate as a gift, you will be quite happy.

The nearest station is Iidabashi Station. The shop is located along Sotobori Street. It was a sale before the summer break (*^_^*) and I was able to purchase at a better price than usual. Lucky★ They had items sold by weight, but this time I opted for a set. ● Assortment \880 7 pieces. [Truffle Pistachio] Inside, there was a green pistachio cream that surprised me. It had a light pistachio scent. Surprisingly easy to eat. [Brittany] Contains caramel cream chocolate. It's always delicious (lol) It might be nice to treat yourself to some high-quality chocolate once in a while.

Leonidas Kagurazaka Shop (chocolate) is a shop I recently discovered. It is incredibly cute and delicious. The white rabbit-shaped chocolates have popping candy inside, making them sweet and easy to eat. The black ones have soft chocolate inside, and although they look adorable, they are surprisingly bitter. I definitely want to go back for more. Leonidas Kagurazaka Shop 03-5225-1580 Tokyo, Shinjuku-ku, Kagurazaka 1-9. 6 minutes walk from Iidabashi Station. Mon-Sat 10:00-20:00 / Holidays 11:00-18:00. Closed on Sundays.

Located at the west exit of Iidabashi, along Gaien-dori, just before Tokyo University of Science. I immediately noticed the trademark yellow sign. I've purchased from other branches before and I know it's delicious. It's a stylish Belgian chocolate shop. The shop has glass windows so you can see inside very well. You can see beautifully packaged chocolates in boxes, making you want to go inside. I came here during a break after having lunch to find a snack to enjoy before my evening lecture. I decided on truffles to avoid any mess, and bought an Irish coffee and two Fine Oranges. Since they are sold by weight, the total came to 311 yen. I got them wrapped in plastic and then in a small bag for home. The snacks were delicious, sweet with a rich flavor. They are different from chocolates sold in supermarkets. The small card I received at the register mentioned that they also offer delivery to other regions. It would make a great gift too.

☆Leonidas☆ Chocolate Shop in Iidabashi ☆ Today, I was planning to go straight home but encountered some work trouble on my way back. I suddenly felt like having something sweet, specifically chocolate. I thought there was no chocolate shop in Iidabashi, but then I saw a yellow sign. "Leonidas..." Didn't really get excited, felt like a chain store chocolate shop. But hey, desperate times call for desperate measures! I bought three types of chocolates. They didn't have prices displayed, turns out they sell by weight. I got three for 485 yen, pretty affordable, right? So, the princess who loves nuts couldn't resist the three nut-infused chocolates. The round Manon Café was just a normal white chocolate. And then the white Manon Café! This one was delicious, with a coffee-flavored chocolate inside, so fluffy. Hazelnuts were tasty too. But apparently, this is a winter limited edition, ending soon. Lastly, the dark Noah Zet (Bitter). Not really bitter, but quite tasty. Also with hazelnuts. It wasn't a mind-blowing experience, but I was pleasantly surprised! It turned out to be a satisfying snack time. Sometimes it's good to go back to basics. The prices are reasonable and seem convenient for everyday snacks.

Get off at Iidabashi Station West Exit, and head to the right after exiting the ticket gate. Go straight down the slope until you reach Sotobori Street, then cross the large pedestrian crossing. After crossing the pedestrian crossing, continue to the left for a while and you will see the shop on your right. It's small, so be careful not to miss it! Inside the shop, you will be greeted by the lovely scent of chocolate, creating a true chocolate shop atmosphere. The shop's recommended item is the "Manon Café," which features coffee-flavored fresh cream topped with roasted hazelnuts and coated in white chocolate. This chocolate is only available in winter and not sold in the summer. This time, I decided to buy a slightly more adult chocolate, the "Pépites Chocolat Orange." It features sugar-coated orange peel enveloped in a slightly bitter chocolate, giving off an adult-like vibe. Normally, only half of the orange is covered in chocolate, but this orange chocolate covers the entire peel, making it great for chocolate lovers! The anticipation of what might be inside adds to the excitement. The area around Kagurazaka seems to attract French customers, possibly due to the presence of a French school. Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, it's great for gifts or as a little treat for yourself!

There are several locations in Tokyo. I have been using this one recently because I have regular appointments in Iidabashi. I like the Mocha-flavored white chocolate-coated treat called Manon that they have during the winter. The chocolates from overseas seem to be reasonably priced. This shop has a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. It is spacious and offers a wide variety of options to choose from, which is enjoyable. The fruit-shaped jelly treats are also delicious and cute. When I visited in October, I was too early for the Manon release on the 15th, so I bought the Noisette Mask instead. I like the option of choosing 6 chocolates for 1,775 yen. I revisited in January. It was nice to have the shop to myself and take my time choosing for Valentine's Day. They had Manon available, 6 pieces for 1,200 yen. I also bought some chocolate bars, white and milk, for 410 yen each (a bit pricey).

I checked out past reviews. I purchased the Best Assortment for 1600 yen and a box of 10 truffles for 1900 yen. The price is cheap but the appearance is quite good. When I opened the Best Assortment packaging, there was cardboard inside, and when I removed it, there was what seemed to be aluminum. Perhaps they are thorough in temperature control. There was also aluminum under the chocolates. The most popular hazelnut white chocolate was sweet and easy to eat. The wine-filled bonbon had a bitter outer layer of chocolate and a sweet cream inside. The pistachio had pistachio cream in milk chocolate. It was rich and very sweet, with a liqueur aroma, so some people may not like it. The Paladore was a 72% cocoa bitter chocolate, surprisingly not too bitter and delicious. The citron had a refreshing lemon flavor that was not overpowering. There were various chocolates with different flavors to enjoy.

I always used to go to the Ginza store, but this time I went to the Kagurazaka store for the first time. It was a clean and pleasant shop. I love Belgian chocolate the most, but the chocolate here is really delicious. It's one of my favorite chocolates available in Japan. I'm happy that they sell it by weight, just like in Belgium. All the chocolates are really delicious, but my favorites are Gianduja, Shell Milk, and the seasonal limited edition Manon Cafe. I always make sure to order them. I recommend them for personal use or as gifts.

During the Valentine's season, I visited Leonidas. In France, it is synonymous with Belgian chocolate, a long-established store, similar to Godiva in Japan. It is like a small shop with a fancy name like Char~ or ~ge found in department stores, offering small macarons and retro shell-shaped chocolates. While it may not be as trendy as RICHART's various ganache chocolates, the retro feel of Leonidas' simple shell-shaped chocolates may not appeal to fashionable women in this age of information overload. However, it is a classic choice. As Easter approaches, it is time for bunny and egg-shaped chocolates in France (and probably Belgium too). Let's enjoy retro chocolates in Kagurazaka, known as the French town, and welcome spring with a renaissance.
