In late May, I went to Tennoji. It was a bit early for lunch, but I decided to try this restaurant that had caught my eye before. The name of the restaurant is "Elk New York Brunch", located on the B1 floor of Abeno Q's Mall. Although it may not seem like a place for an old man like me, I consider myself to have the heart of a young girl. The dish that caught my attention was the "4 kinds of cheese fondue, grilled sausage, pancake". I had been hesitant to try a pancake restaurant before because I thought it would take a long time to prepare, but this time I had plenty of time. I ordered the set menu which cost 1,480 yen. I also chose a grape juice as my drink for 250 yen. The total payment was 1,730 yen. It took about 15 minutes for the dish to be ready, so I was given a device and took my seat. The restaurant had 8 4-person tables and 7 2-person tables in a spacious dining area. The pancake menu included various options like plain pancake, chocolate nut banana brulee pancake, strawberry pancake, caramel salt tiramisu pancake, mont blanc pancake, and more. You could also add soft serve ice cream topping for an additional 200 yen, and choose between 2 or 3 pancakes. Interestingly, if you order after 12:00 PM, the dish I ordered becomes a set with a drink for 1,280 yen, which seems like a great deal. There was also a morning set from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM where you could get 2 plain pancakes with a drink for 860 yen. I received a call about 15 minutes after ordering, and went to the counter to pick up my pancake. It was the only savory pancake on the menu, topped with melting cheese, grilled sausage, and plenty of vegetables. The pancake was not as thick as I expected, and 3 pieces seemed just right. The combination of slightly sweet pancake and savory cheese fondue worked well. The grilled sausage was also substantial, accompanied by brown mushrooms, potatoes, bell peppers, and fresh vegetables, with tomato sauce as a nice touch. By the end of the meal, I was satisfied and full. While it was more of a lunch than a dessert, I might come back to try the plain pancake morning set next time. Thank you for the meal!
