The commercial facility directly connected to Sakai East Station on the Nankai Koya Line, on the 1st floor of Sakai Takashimaya, has become one of Osaka's representative curry shops, along with "Indian" and "Piccolo". Just like other San Marco shops in the department store basement, it is located next to the takeout shop "KYK". Looking for a place to eat before work in Sakai East after 10 am, there are not many open shops at this time. At that time, I remembered this shop in Takashimaya in Sakai, so I came here. When viewed from the entrance of Takashimaya, there is first the shop of KYK, then the takeout shop of San Marco, and behind that is the eat-in area. There are about 10 counter seats in a U-shape, and it seems to share the kitchen with KYK. Inspired by the posters in the store, I ordered the Autumn Vegetable Curry (781 yen). After a bit of a wait, the Autumn Vegetable Curry was served. The vegetables included sweet potato chips, mushrooms, potatoes, carrots, and chestnuts on top of the rice, making it truly autumnal. First, I took a spoonful of the curry. It has the taste of European-style curry, spicy yet not too hot. Moreover, it has a good balance of acidity and sweetness, with a solid richness, typical of San Marco's outstanding curry. You can understand why it is liked by people of all ages. The compatibility with each vegetable is also good. The other specialty, cabbage pickles, are as delicious as ever. In addition, San Marco's specialty is the 4 types of condiments: nuts, raisins, pineapples, and cucumber pickles. With these and the cabbage pickles, it resets the palate after eating the curry. I was able to finish my meal feeling satisfied. The curry here is probably prepared at a central kitchen, so the taste does not change at each store. It's a reliable taste. In addition, opening at 10:00 is convenient for me, with irregular working hours.
