[March 2014 Revisit] The restaurant is now open 24 hours a day! \(^o^)/
[April 2011 Revisit] I stopped by for some crispy tonkatsu skewers on a weekend afternoon. I mainly ordered vegetable skewers (nanohana, takenoko) and paired them with my favorite "Kawachi wine." The wine went perfectly with the tonkatsu!
- Nanohana and takenoko skewers: 126 yen
- Kawachi wine: 399 yen
[April 2011 Revisit] After enjoying tonkotsu ramen at "Zundo-ya Osaka Main Store" in Himeji, I walked to Amerikamura. I visited the "Nishinari Nidaime Nishikawaya Amerikamura Store" that I've been into lately. I tried the "Hoisu" that caught my attention last time and it turns out it's the original Chu-hi! The Hoisu, a mix of Chinese herbal medicine, wine, and liqueur, has a unique taste with a hint of sweetness. It's recommended for Chu-hi lovers!
[March 2011 Visit] The third-generation owner of Yorozuya, a standing bar in Nishinari, has three branches. This time, I went to the third branch, the Amerikamura Store. The atmosphere is relaxed with counter and table seats. They have a variety of skewers with different toppings, and of course, double dipping the sauce is not allowed! The crispy cabbage they serve as a side dish enhances the skewers. The famous "doteyaki" is soft and gooey with white miso as the highlight. I recommend the "maguro sashimi" which is fresh and delicious. It's a cheap and enjoyable place to drink and eat delicious skewers in Amerikamura!
- Skewers: 84 yen
- Oyster skewers: 189 yen
- Shrimp toast skewers: 157 yen
- Taisho horumon: 262 yen
- Famous doteyaki: 105 yen
- Maguro sashimi: 399 yen
- Draft beer: 315 yen
- Kumesen: 315 yen
- Highball: 399 yen

Had dinner alone at "Nishinari Nidaime Nishikawaya" for the second time. I was seated at the counter. I ordered a medium-sized draft beer for 430 yen, white wine for 400 yen, octopus with wasabi for 400 yen, Daisho horumon for 450 yen, beef skewers for 100 yen, mochi for 120 yen, and sand liver for 160 yen. The most delicious dish was definitely the Daisho horumon! The chewy texture of the horumon and the stimulating garlic flavor make for an enjoyable change in taste.

Today I had lunch here. I casually dropped by on a holiday afternoon at 1:00 PM. The restaurant was quite empty, but it was still early so it's understandable. I was greeted with a lackluster voice as I entered. I sat at the counter and ordered a mixed plate of 5 skewered cutlets and a highball. Without saying anything, the highball was placed in front of me on the counter. Well, it's fine. I quenched my thirst and waited. After about 5 minutes, the skewered cutlets arrived, also placed on the counter without a word. I wish they had said something like "Enjoy your meal." The skewered cutlets were freshly fried and delicious. The Worcestershire sauce had the usual line "No double dipping." The Worcestershire sauce had a mellow flavor with the acidity toned down. I also ordered some fried potatoes to fill my stomach, as I get hungry quickly. The fried potatoes were just regular frozen ones, but they came with ketchup for some flavor variation. I wish the experience was a bit more pleasant while eating. Thank you for the meal.

"Nishikawa-ya America-mura branch, the second generation of Nishikawa-ya in Nishinari, with its main store in Umeda. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is casual, with a counter and table seating. Customers can write down their orders on a memo paper provided at their table. The sushi pieces are generally small in size, with a light and crispy batter. The large sauce container, measuring about 15cm by 20cm, is easy to use."

I suddenly felt like eating kushikatsu a little late at night. I didn't want a fancy course-style kushikatsu like at Most or Rokkakudo, but rather the Osaka soul food style from a kushikatsu place in Shinsekai. Since Yoneya in Namba Walk is getting close to closing time, I decided to go to Kushikatsu Tanaka in Nankai Namba Station, which is open until 11 pm, or Ittoku in Namba, or Nishinari Nidaime Nishikawaya in America-mura. I ordered a plate of 10 kushikatsu for 1310 yen, along with potato salad, doteyaki, and Taisho horumon. The kushikatsu sauce was a bit light, with a slightly sweet and mild flavor, which is expected given the location in America-mura, so the prices are reasonable. After trying the Taisho horumon, I felt like I wanted to visit the original Taisho in Miyagi, but their operating hours are also quite challenging.

The first izakaya we went to was pretty good, so we decided to look for a place with comfortable seating. After walking around for a while past 10:00 pm, we finally found this restaurant. Although they had counter seats available, we were able to get a table for four people. It had been a while since we had kushikatsu, and this place had a good variety of options. We ordered some drinks and toasted with chu-hai. Asparagus, shrimp, mozzarella, okra - all delicious. Remember not to double-dip; use the cabbage to scoop up the sauce. The thin batter was great value for money. We also tried the kaki vinegar, doteyaki, umekurage, and potato salad. We ended up ordering too much and were completely full. The restaurant is open 24 hours, making it convenient to visit. The prices are reasonable, making it a good option for a second stop. We will definitely visit again!

The restaurant is open 24 hours. When I came before, they were preparing, but this time I visited at 28:20. There are counter seats and table seats. You write down what you want to eat on a memo and order. I ordered a set of 7 skewers - shrimp, beef, pork, smelt, quail egg, onion, eggplant, with sauce (sorry for double dipping!). Cabbage is also included. I also ordered a hot oolong tea. With a coupon from Tabelog, I got a free drink.

A place where you can easily enter alone. The restaurant has a counter and table seats, with a casual atmosphere. You write your order on a piece of paper and hand it in. The standard skewers and seasonal skewers are priced from 100 yen, which is reasonable. The freshly fried skewers were crispy and delicious.

The location is in Shinsaibashi. We came here for the third round after a drinking party. We were planning to finish with takoyaki from the previous place, but it was full, so we ended up at this restaurant. I thought it was a typical kushikatsu place. Turns out, it was just that, haha. The prices are a bit high, but it's a kushikatsu place that you can use for regular occasions. They maintain a certain level of quality, so I think it's a good place for drinking.

In the middle of the evening in downtown Osaka, feeling a bit peckish, I decided to visit "Nishinari Nidaime Nikawaya" by myself. This place is open 24 hours. I was seated at the counter. I ordered three medium-sized draft beers for 430 yen each, kimchi for 300 yen, Daisho Hormone for 450 yen, assorted skewers (beef, pork, shrimp + 2 chef's choice items) for 670 yen, and grilled geoduck for 450 yen. The flavors here are solid and the prices are reasonable, making it a casual spot for food and drinks. The skewers are crispy and not greasy. The most delicious dish was the Daisho Hormone! The chewy texture of the hormone and the spicy garlic seasoning provided a delightful flavor experience. Satisfied, I headed to a live house.

I decided to eat near the hotel because the festival ended late. I searched for kushikatsu using Google and decided to head to this restaurant near the hotel. I confirmed that there were seats available at the counter from the outside, so I entered around 22:00. As soon as I sat down, I ordered a set of 10 kushikatsu, Taisho horumon, and a draft beer. The kushikatsu arrived first, and while I was eating it, the Taisho horumon arrived. The set of 10 kushikatsu includes 3 predetermined skewers and the rest are chef's choice for the day. Today's skewers included onion, shishito pepper, shiitake mushroom, quail egg, eggplant, wiener kiss (sausage wrapped in bacon), pork, beef, and shrimp. The kushikatsu had a light batter that was crispy, and the sauce had a fruity flavor with a strong acidity. It paired perfectly with the beer. The Taisho horumon had little fat but was flavorful. It had a good texture and a rich taste. When dipped in garlic, the flavor became more intense and delicious. Kushikatsu definitely goes well with beer.

I was relieved that they accepted credit cards. After work, I wanted to grab a drink. Where should we go... Oh, I remember there's a 24-hour open store nearby! So we went there. The taste was neither good nor bad. I noticed a sticker in the restroom saying "Security camera in operation," which made me a bit nervous as I looked around. I hope they don't have cameras in the restroom... If you're looking to drink during the day, this place might be an option!

September long weekend. Once again, I went to Osaka (lol) The main reason this time is EXILE's live concert on September 15th and 16th, and I was able to get tickets, so I will be enjoying two days of live music. In between the concerts, I plan to explore Osaka through food! After checking in at the hotel in Amerikamura in the afternoon, I headed to Nishikawaya, which is close by. The heat was back and I was feeling thirsty. Just having a drink on the Shinkansen was not enough, and I still had time before the concert. When I opened the sliding door, there were a few customers already inside. The system was to order drinks verbally and write down other orders on paper to hand to the staff. I didn't have high expectations for a 24-hour open restaurant, to be honest. (;) However, I thought I could at least have a snack, so I started with a tomato highball... but it wasn't on the menu. When I asked if they could make it, I was told it would be considered a cocktail and asked if that was okay. I really wanted to finish a tomato highball after a long time, so I ordered one. For skewers, I had skewers of pork cutlet, cheese, pumpkin, and garlic, 4 in total. It was neither good nor bad, just average. After a short break, I headed to the next destination.

The shop is located slightly west of Midosuji Street on Sanji-suji, near the entrance to America-mura. There are about 8 counter seats and 5 table seats. Since there were two of us, we were seated at a table. We started with beer as usual. Cheers! The food is ordered by writing on paper. We ordered potato salad, dashimaki tamago, and 6 pieces of kushiage. The potato salad arrived first. It had chunky potatoes and was decent in taste. After a while, the dashimaki tamago was served. We switched to "Tamano Hikari" cold sake at this point. The sake paired well with the dashimaki tamago, which was fluffy and not too sweet, and freshly grilled. The best item from the kushiage was the tsukune. Feeling like we could drink a bit more, we moved on to the next dish.

I visited around 4 o'clock on a regular day. I was seated at the counter and asked for a drink, so I ordered a lime shochu highball for 400 yen. The food menu is written on paper, and I ordered skewers of beef, pork, eggplant, sardines, fresh wheat gluten, shiitake mushrooms, and okra. It arrived in less than 10 minutes, along with some cabbage. The fresh wheat gluten was chewy and delicious! The total bill came to 1360 yen. In addition to skewers, they also offer sashimi, side dishes, and ochazuke. It's a great place for solo drinking anytime. ^^
