Recently, a popular takeout seafood bowl specialty store called "Donburi Maru" seems to have opened in the neighborhood at the end of last year. I heard about it and decided to go to "Donburi Maru"! This style seems to be popular these days, but among them, "Donburi Maru" is opening new stores at a rapid pace of 100 stores per year. The reason for this is that all seafood bowls are priced at only one coin (540 yen)!! And there are so many varieties available! Some people in the MyRebi community have mixed opinions about "Donburi Maru," but seeing is believing, so I made my first visit. The store is located on the first floor of a building, and although the sign is flashy, it doesn't give off a strong sense of being open for business. When I opened the door that looked like an office, I found a counter with a display case for the ingredients, and there were a few small table seats and only three counter seats! I ordered the bowl I had decided on after studying the flyer displayed outside the store. Me: "Can I eat in here?" Mature male staff: "Of course! We also have hot tea here." So, I sat at the counter. In about a minute, my bowl was served! - Uogashi Donburi 540 yen The toppings on the bowl include tuna, squid, negitoro (minced tuna with green onions), salmon roe, and sea urchin. Wow, it looks delicious! As expected, seafood bowls look better in a bowl than in a plastic container! So, I borrowed the soy sauce on the table, mixed it with wasabi, and poured it over the bowl! Let's eat! The tuna has a moist texture and is quite delicious! The small salmon roe also enhances the flavor nicely. Although there is only a small amount, the sea urchin is rich in umami with a hint of seaweed flavor. As some previous reviewers have mentioned, the vinegar in the rice is weak, giving it a slightly mushy texture. But the toppings are quite tasty. The quality of the toppings is better than at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, and it's worth at least five plates of sushi or more. However, when dining in the store, it's a bit awkward to have the staff standing silently right in front of the counter. Maybe they could try playing some enka music in the background? (laughs) In the area around Higashi-Mikuni, where there are no conveyor belt sushi restaurants, this place is convenient for when you want to eat sushi easily. I think it's a good option. That's all for now. Thank you.
