Strawberry sweets in full bloom this spring♪ On a weekday during cherry blossom season, I rode my bicycle on Route 163 after shopping. For lunch that day, I visited Fuujin Ramen. Rich and flavorful tonkotsu shoyu ramen and fluffy, gentle pan-fried dumplings. After enjoying ramen and dumplings, as I was about to head home, I spotted a shop near the Kitadera intersection, just 70-80 meters south of Fuujin Ramen. It's a dessert shop, right next to a ramen shop...what a tempting layout! Free parking is available, so you can also come by car without worries. If you're taking the bus, the Terakata Housing Bus Stop or Terakata Hondori 1-chome Bus Stop on the Keihan Bus route is the closest. For train stations, the nearest would be Kawasaki, Nishisansho, or Morisho on the Keihan line, or Shimizu Station on the subway, but it would take about 15-20 minutes on foot from any of these stations. The dishes I enjoyed this time were ★ Mont Blanc Cup Madeleine, with custard cream inside and plenty of whipped cream on top covered with lots of yellow chestnut cream. It's filled with plenty of sweet red bean paste, and after eating three pieces, I was full. ★ Natsue Dream My friend was coming over, so I chose this sweet treat that I love. With butter, sweet potato, and coffee flavors, it's a delightful combination. It's cheap, delicious, visually appealing, and personally, I really like the coffee flavor, so sometimes I just go to buy the coffee flavor alone. In April 2020, when I went to Morokuchi, I passed by Chateraise, so I stopped by for the first time in a while. At Chateraise, I usually buy ice cream or cream puffs, but this time I decided to try some other sweets as well. I purchased a total of 6 items: - Mugwort-flavored sweet bean paste dumplings in a cup (129 yen) - Double cream puff (108 yen) - Matcha and milk cream double cream puff (108 yen) - Fluffy thick-cut roll cake made with fresh eggs (108 yen) - Butter dorayaki from Hokkaido (129 yen) - Chateau Raisin (129 yen) Among the items I purchased, I particularly liked the Chateau Raisin the most. It has a unique taste similar to Marseille butter sandwich, but with a different flavor profile. It would go well with wine. Of course, the cream puffs and roll cake were also delicious as always. Chateraise... I had heard the name since I was a child, but it seems that the stores are only located in the suburbs, so I never had the opportunity to visit. My personal image of Chateraise was honestly, "They sell both Japanese and Western sweets at low prices, but the taste is mediocre," similar to "Peko-chan's Fujiya." However, by chance, I discovered a store at the border between Moriguchi and Osaka! I had been curious about it for a while, so I was drawn in and entered the store (laughs). As expected, the store had many families, and they had a wide variety of Japanese sweets, Western sweets, fresh sweets, and ice cream! I was surprised by the low prices. Ice cream items were mostly under 100 yen each!! The famous "Riemu" (a sweet potato-based baked confectionery) was only 50 yen, even though it was quite substantial!!! It's like the price of cheap snacks! Many people were buying in bulk, and the prices were reasonable. Now, the sugar-free sweets were also available (although they were a bit more expensive). I was curious about the taste, so I bought some ice cream and sugar-free sweets. It's a shame that dry ice costs extra. As for the taste, the regular sweets, which were not sugar-free, were unexpectedly (sorry) very delicious!! The ice cream flavors like caramel and cheesecake were rich and flavorful without any cheapness. Coffee and milk flavors were refreshing, highlighting the goodness of the milk. The ghost's head is adorned with whipped cream and candied pumpkin. Now, let me share my thoughts after trying Chateraise's Halloween Dome. With pumpkin flavors dominating, the candied pumpkin and pumpkin cream had a delightful texture and the natural sweetness of pumpkin shone through, resulting in a perfectly balanced sweetness and overall deliciousness. The only downside is that the cake is so cute that it's a bit challenging to figure out how to eat it (^^) The price of Chateraise's Halloween Dome is ¥336, which I believe is reasonable considering the volume and taste.
