The clean and beautiful shop has a calming and cozy atmosphere. I recently discovered this place, but it seems to have been around for a while, and I definitely want to visit again. The delicious eel, liver sashimi, vinegar dish, and pickles set was exactly as I had hoped for, and I am very satisfied.

I had the eel rice bowl at Horitadu in the basement of Takashimaya Sakai store. It was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with Kansai-style grilled eel. The bowl contained a large whole eel, allowing me to fully enjoy it. Moving away from the eel, they also offer a rare and hard-to-find sake, Juyondai, at a reasonable price. Normally, you would have to pay around 50,000 yen for a one-liter bottle of this premium sake, but here they have a special way of obtaining it at regular price, allowing you to enjoy Juyondai without being swayed by inflated prices.

I am "Noronori", who mainly walks around eating lunch, mainly in Sakai. When I'm not feeling well, I eat eel as a charm. As soon as I eat eel and eel liver, I feel full of energy. I didn't know... The beautiful restaurant with charcoal-grilled eel is great. I love it when the eel is packed tightly in the wooden tub and I pour delicious broth over it. Some places call it "una tea". It was a satisfying lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Lunch in Sakai Higashi. Well, more like late lunch around 2 o'clock. I decided to try out a new eel restaurant that opened last year and had caught my interest, called Horitada in the underground food court at Sakai Higashi. It's a branch of a restaurant from Noda. They still serve lunch, so I ordered the lunch set, half portion of grilled eel, and grilled eel liver. I also got a draft beer and a sake tasting set. They have quite a variety of sake. It's nice for a midday drink. Started with a grilled eel with sansho pepper as an appetizer. Perfect with the draft beer. The grilled eel liver was a generous portion for 900 yen. It will keep me going for a while. The half portion of grilled eel cost 2800 yen with 3 pieces. It was crispy on the outside with salt and yuzu pepper. The lunch set for 1500 yen included rolled omelette, pickles, clear soup, and an eel bowl. The grilled eel in the bowl was the most delicious. Maybe I should have ordered the premium one instead of the half portion... I'm about 70% full now. But I'm pleasantly tipsy, so it's all good. Interestingly, even around 3 o'clock, the restaurant had a decent amount of customers.

I missed out on eating eel last weekend, but when I saw a photo of unagi-don on my friend's Facebook, I couldn't resist the craving. I had to go eat eel. I searched on Tabelog and decided to go to "Hori Tadashi" in Sakai Higashi since I had some time available during lunchtime. The restaurant is located in the underground food court of Takashimaya. Due to the influence of the coronavirus, there were not many people in the food court, and "Hori Tadashi" was empty as well. I couldn't help but worry about how restaurants can survive in this situation. Anyway, let's focus on enjoying the eel. There were lunch sets available, but I decided to go for the unagi-don. There were three options: "Tokujou" for 4800 yen, "Toku" for 3800 yen, and "Jou" for 2500 yen. I asked the staff about the difference, and they explained that "Tokujou" has a large eel, "Toku" has a small eel, and "Jou" has half a large eel. Should I splurge and go for "Tokujou"? Or play it safe with "Toku"? Maybe add some extra sauce to "Jou"? I was hesitating, and since I was the only customer, I felt the staff's gaze on me (laughs). In the end, I played it safe and ordered "Toku." After a short wait, the eagerly awaited unagi-don "Toku" arrived. It was said to have a small eel, but it was actually a normal-sized eel. It was so good. The eel was surprisingly fluffy for being grilled in Osaka style. The sauce was not too sweet. The shiny rice was very delicious. I also had the liver. It was slightly salty but silky smooth with no unpleasant smell. I don't usually eat pickles, but I tried them this time. The pickles had a mild saltiness and were delicious. I left a little bit of it because the unagi-don was flavorful, but I think I would have finished it if there was more rice. The only regret was the sansho pepper. It was uncommonly in a pepper mill, but it didn't have much aroma. It felt like a waste since the eel was so delicious. I think it would be better to skip the pepper mill, as it didn't quite match the atmosphere of the restaurant. With tax, it came to 4180 yen, and I indulged in a luxurious lunch on a weekday. On November 12, 2018, around 11 o'clock, my partner and I visited this restaurant for the first time. We walked there and had lunch (part 1). For lunch (part 2), we enjoyed delicious squid salted roe at Sakadokoro Waiwai in Nakagawacho. I had the lunch set mini for 1,500 yen (excluding tax), limited to 12 servings. The set included 2 pieces of grilled eel, shredded dried fish with sansho pepper rice, rolled omelette, salad, soup, pickles, and dessert. I chose red miso soup for the soup. Everything was of high quality and delicious. Even though this is an eel restaurant, I have to say that the pickles were also very delicious. I had a Nikka highball for 600 yen (excluding tax), and my partner had the lunch set upper for 2,000 yen (excluding tax). Thank you for the delicious meal!

I often go to the main store, but I tried going to Sakai because I don't like waiting in line... I wonder if the main store is tastier... Unfortunately, the Kansai-style crispy texture was lacking, and the broth had a fishy smell, so I probably won't visit again.

Located on the north side of the Osaka City Central Wholesale Market in Noda, Fukushima Ward, Osaka, "Charcoal-Grilled Eel Hori Tadashi" is a small restaurant with only 7 counter seats. I visited their Sakai East branch and tried their luxurious Kansai-style charcoal-grilled eel lunch. The visible amount of rice may seem like a lot, but that's just how it is for a high-class meal, so I couldn't help it... (laughs) On June 9th, I visited on what can be considered our anniversary as a couple, marking a quarter of a century! There were no special events, but since it was a rare occasion, we decided to dine out for lunch. We went to the "Charcoal-Grilled Eel Hori Tadashi Sakai East branch" located on the B1 floor of Sakai Takashimaya. We entered and found a table immediately. The interior had 3 tables with 10 seats and a counter with 6 available seats. We started with a toast!! We ordered a bottle of Asahi Super Dry beer, the "Moza Bird, Kofun Group" sponsored version☆ I didn't know they had this kind of collaboration. After a short wait, our lunch set arrived. I ordered the "Unagi Juu" set for 2,160 yen, which included eel over rice, eel sushi roll, salad, pickles, and miso soup (red miso). It also came with dessert. The eel was grilled over charcoal, giving it a crispy skin and a tender inside. The soy sauce-based sauce was rich in flavor, making it easy to have extra rice. The eel sushi roll complemented the eel dish perfectly. We finished the meal with a refreshing sherbet dessert and enjoyed the full-flavored red miso soup. It was a satisfying lunch set. Charcoal-grilled eel restaurant located in Takashimaya Sakai Higashi store. You can enjoy dishes like unagi donburi inside the restaurant, but they also offer takeout options like bento boxes. I bought one to take home this time. They are particular about using domestic eel, as indicated prominently on the pack lid as "Aichi-produced eel." The rice is also a special cultivation rice from Tottori. The taste of the eel itself is delicious, and the sauce is not too sweet, which is nice. The rolled omelette has a fluffy and elegant seasoning. The portion of eel is a bit on the smaller side, but considering the price, it seems reasonable. The main store is located in Noda, Fukushima Ward. If I have the chance, I would like to try dining at that location.

Located in Sakai Higashi, there is a new opening on the basement floor of Takashimaya. The main store is right next to the central wholesale market in Osaka, and it is a small shop with only a counter. I have visited a few times and I love the way they grill the eel and the taste of the sauce, so I am very happy that they have opened a store in Sakai Higashi. At Hori Tadashi, I usually order the special eel rice bowl (with a large eel) or the Osaka mamushi (with two medium-sized eels), but today I ordered the special eel rice bowl. You can choose between miso soup or clear soup, and I chose the clear soup without hesitation. As part of the grand opening celebration, they offered a free soft drink, so I ordered oolong tea. The eel was firm and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside, and I was very satisfied. When I paid the bill, they also gave me a complimentary "eel roll sushi" as part of the opening celebration.

The day when the owner returned to Tokyo. I made lunch for him to eat before he left, and thought it would be lonely for him to eat alone on his way back, so I got his favorite eel for takeout. The eel is grilled after taking the order. I chose the largest one for him and he was happy to hear that. The package was also cute with eel designs. They wrapped it multiple times to prevent leaks, and put it in a ziplock bag and a cooler bag for perfect preservation. The eel arrived home without losing its shape, and he said it was delicious. He was very satisfied with the Kansai-style eel, it was really delicious.

I always buy eel from Horitadu at Takashimaya. I had always wanted to try their restaurant, but never had the chance. Yesterday, my sister and I had lunch at Horitadu's restaurant. The eel was tender, perfectly oily, warm, and freshly cooked. The dashimaki was also delicious and elegant. We were very satisfied and returned home. They also have a variety of rare sake, so I would like to go for dinner next time!
