I used it for a meal with friends on a regular day. There aren't many specialty duck meat shops, so I was looking forward to it! ✔️Duck meat yukhoe ✔️Assorted 4 types of duck meat ✔️Duck meat loin steak ✔️Donabe rice All the dishes were of high quality. I went alone, but it was really comfortable! I'm not good at talking to strangers because I'm shy, but the owner at Koharu had a good sense of distance and it was fun talking to him. I wanted to try a variety of dishes, so I chose the Kawachi duck course (2750 yen), and it was amazing!! Isn't it incredible to enjoy fresh and delicious duck dishes at this price?? The course contents seem to vary depending on the day. - Kawachi duck loin with liver soy sauce The duck liver soy sauce was amazing. I was hooked from the first dish. - Kawachi duck sashimi platter (loin and breast) The thick and tender texture is amazing. Even an amateur can tell how fresh it is!! - Kawachi duck loin with kelp The combination of kelp and seared duck loin is the best, isn't it? - Kawachi duck loin tataki The combination of duck and green onions is perfect. The tataki is freshly grilled, and the cooking is just perfect. - Kawachi duck porridge This is amazing. The steam aroma is a knockout. The richness of the duck fat is impressive, not to mention the sweetness. I haven't felt such a deep sweetness in porridge before. It's been a while since I've been to Takatsuki, but I was surprised to see so many restaurants! For those near Takatsuki or those who love duck, please try Koharu! But even for those who are not interested in duck, I want you to try the delicious duck dishes at Koharu. Takatsuki is far, but I will definitely go back to try the kamameshi with a la carte orders!

On a certain Friday after work, my husband and I reunited at this restaurant we hadn't been to in a while. We started with a draft beer cheers. We ordered some potato fries to go with the beer. Then we had the "Kawachi duck breast with kombu" which we almost always order. Half of it was seared. We also had some sake. Next was the "Kawachi duck breast with shichimi spice" with sweet potatoes as a nice autumn touch. The "Kawachi duck breast with liver in soy sauce" also went well with the sake. We tried the "sudachi chilled sake" on the rocks, which was refreshing. Lastly, we enjoyed the "Kawachi duck liver rare grilled with salt" as well. It was nice catching up with the owner and the duck dishes, which always pair well with alcohol, were delicious. Thank you for the feast.

Takatsuki: Osaka Gakamo Specialty Store Koshun @kawaraqqq Once again, to my favorite restaurant in Takatsuki, Koshun! This place specializes in duck dishes. Ever since I tried it for the first time, I have been coming back repeatedly because of how delicious it is! It completely changes the concept of duck! On this day, I had a sashimi assortment, liver sashimi, rare roast duck with salt, duck hot pot, and finished with porridge and soba. I also couldn't resist the duck and leek miso gratin. I ate so much (*´Д`*) It was too delicious to stop. They also have a variety of Japanese sake that changes weekly, including some rare ones, so it's recommended for sake lovers too. Even though I didn't have it on this day, the kamameshi (kettle rice) here is incredibly delicious. The duck dishes for lunch, such as Kamon Duck Seiro and Kamon Duck Tataki Don, were incredibly delicious. However, the master revealed the shocking fact that "only about 20-30% of the restaurant's goodness is shown during lunch", so I eagerly awaited the return of dinner. There were many menu items that I couldn't see during lunch, and the quality was extremely high. Among the fierce competition, what left a particularly strong impression were the liver sashimi and the Seven Spice grilled duck roast. Although it says liver sashimi on the menu, it even included heart sashimi. This was my first time trying duck sashimi, and it was incredibly delicious with a hint of fat and a slightly different taste from chicken. And the Seven Spice grilled duck roast. Despite being grilled, I was surprised by how tender the meat was! Duck meat is usually known for its elasticity and firmness when grilled, but this was incredibly tender, and the flavor of the Seven Spice and sauce was addicting. The skillful cooking technique must be the secret behind this dish. This is a must-try dish. The meat in the duck hot pot can also be enjoyed as sashimi, so just lightly blanch it a few times for a super tender texture, and the duck broth is seriously delicious. And the buckwheat noodles served at the end were even more flavorful, as the duck broth had fully infused into it after the pot was emptied. It was the perfect ending. This is the best place to enjoy duck dishes in various variations, all of which are delicious. I couldn't fully appreciate the flavors in one visit, so I definitely want to go back next time to try the rice dish that the person next to me ordered and was so delighted about!

Duck Tataki Donburi and Duck Seiro for 1200 yen. I have been wanting to visit this place since my first visit in August, but it's a bit far so I kept putting it off. I have been following their Instagram and this week's lunch special of Duck Tataki Donburi and Duck Seiro was so tempting that I decided to skip my lunch break and go try it out. The conclusion is that it was incredibly delicious, so I decided to post this review earlier than usual. This special combination is only available this week, so if you are in the Takatsuki area, I highly recommend trying it out! The Duck Tataki Donburi was delicious, but the highlight was definitely the dipping sauce for the Duck Seiro. The duck broth and soy sauce blended perfectly, and the duck fat was so smooth and tasty! It was so good that I ended up finishing the dipping sauce completely. I'm considering going back for seconds this Friday. They are currently not open for dinner service as they are still in the process of applying for a Gold Sticker, but once they reopen, I will definitely be one of the first customers to visit.

Weekly lunch plate for 1300 yen Located right by Takatsuki Station, this specialty duck restaurant has been catching my eye on Instagram with its tempting lunch menu items like duck tataki donburi and duck seiro. Finally, I made my first visit this week. This week's lunch plate included: - Duck kamameshi - Negima skewer - Duck with kelp - Edamame - Miso-marinated grilled duck - Ume (plum) flavored chicken breast - Duck soup (no photo) Don't you think plate lunches like this are visually appealing and enjoyable to look at? Well, I also like a big single dish, but the presentation of this plate was lovely. As for the taste, it exceeded my expectations! The kamameshi was delicious with great seasoning, and the duck with kelp, miso-marinated duck, and chicken breast were all new flavors for me. Everything had a fresh taste and was delicious. I forgot to take a photo of the duck soup, which had a great spice of sansho pepper in duck broth, it was really amazing. According to the owner, this lunch plate only showcases about 20% of the restaurant's and duck's goodness. Hearing that makes me want to visit for dinner as well, but unfortunately, they are currently only open for lunch. While waiting for dinner service to resume, I look forward to enjoying their weekly lunch menu and have a feeling I'll be visiting often.

I went to a restaurant that my follower had recommended and I was curious about. During the state of emergency, they only serve lunch. It was located in a hard-to-find place, so I was surprised to find it there! The menu had only one item, the "Kawachi duck tataki bowl". The duck soup was delicious, but the duck tataki in the bowl had a slightly strong smell on the first bite. I thought it was a bit... unusual since it was the first time I found duck to be smelly. However, I managed to eat it with soy sauce and wasabi. The problem was with the rice. It was clumpy and, to be honest, it didn't suit my taste. I tried to eat it by mixing it with grated daikon, but maybe I didn't have to force myself to eat it. Despite the good personality of the owner, I felt it was a shame.

Wednesday 12:00 Four customers were already there, and the owner seemed younger than expected, handling everything alone. Normally, they only operate at night, but it seems they are open for lunch due to the state of emergency. - Duck roast tartare bowl with duck soup for ¥1100 It seems like they have a changing lunch menu. This was the only option available. I asked for a large portion (which seemed to be free). The interior had a soft, white wooden feel which was nice. Jazz music was playing in the background. The menu illustrations were really well done, which boosted my mood. The owner was humble and provided good service, speaking politely. He seemed like a good conversationalist. The chefs are often not good at chatting, but they seem strong when serving alcohol at night. They asked if I was okay with sansho pepper, and I confirmed. It took about 15 minutes for the food to come out, but it felt like they were making it carefully. This is a benefit of sitting at the counter where you can see the kitchen. It's beautiful here. First, I tried the duck soup... it was delicious. The duck fat was floating on top, but the small amount of sansho pepper and plenty of green onions in it balanced out the fat. It tasted like a duck broth and was very delicious. Next was the bowl... also delicious. The duck had absolutely no smell. It might be the least smelly duck I've ever had. I can see why they would want to serve it almost raw. The duck with the grated daikon radish was especially tasty. Duck belly, like negitoro, was a first for me, but it was also delicious. The amount of rice was similar to a large portion at Yoshinoya. The owner interacted with us a bit during the meal, making the dining experience enjoyable. My girlfriend even said she'd like to come back at night. The location might make it difficult to come at night, so I thought I should promote it more!

Due to the state of emergency, the specialty duck restaurant, KAWARA, was asked to shorten its business hours. Their response was to open at noon, start serving lunch, and operate continuously. Located in Jokita-cho, along Route 171. A little west of Kyoguchi-cho intersection. About a 3-minute walk from Hankyu Takatsuki-shi Station. There are only two duck specialty restaurants in Takatsuki. I visited around 1 pm. No other customers. It was completely reserved. The lunch menu consists of one weekly special. It is available until sold out, not based on time. You can also order a la carte dishes and alcohol from the regular menu. In other words, day drinking is allowed. Japanese sake tempted me... but I refrained from driving... - Asahi Dry Zero ¥450 - Weekly special lunch: Duck seiro and duck toro sushi set ¥1,100 Duck seiro is a popular closing dish. Duck toro sushi has plenty of pounded duck meat on top. It was quite delicious. Highly recommended. I wish there were more photos, haha. It's a restaurant that serves Kawachi duck. Whatever you order is delicious, but the last seiro soba was especially good. Because of that soba, the memory of other dishes was pushed to the back of my mind. I want to go again and I definitely will.

I can't believe you can eat duck dishes of this level in Takatsuki!!! I ordered a lot like duck sashimi, kombu-marinated duck, rare fried duck, duck rice, etc.! Of course, everything was delicious! I also had about 3 drinks, and it cost around 5000 yen per person. It's easily accessible from Takatsuki-shi Station, the interior is clean, and the duck dishes are amazingly good at a reasonable price. It was a fantastic night drowning in duck meat. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The days are getting longer, and on this day, I arrived at the restaurant where my husband had made a reservation before him. I couldn't wait to meet up with my husband, so I ordered a drink first. After a short wait, my husband arrived and we enjoyed the "Avocado and Cream Cheese Caesar Salad" that I had ordered in advance. Here is the "Duck Breast with Kombu" which can be enjoyed as is or seared. Next, we had the "Duck Leek Skewers" with a rock of shochu "Torikai". Then we had the "Duck Liver Soy Sauce" dish. We ordered another round of shochu on the rocks. And when we saw the "French Fries" ordered by another customer, we couldn't resist and also got some along with a draft beer. April 21, 2020 visit (all information included here is from the time of the visit) (prices are all excluding tax) - 【Kawara】 is a rare duck specialty store in Takatsuki. They handle Kawachi duck, which was also served at the G20 summit. They have started offering takeout, so I went to buy it right away. The location is south of Hankyu Takatsuki-shi Station, along Route 171, around the opposite side of 【Tenkaippin】. On the first floor of the San Yule Leisure Building. It's about a 3-4 minute walk from the station. The long counter with about 10 seats has plates and disposable chopsticks for 6 people. Social distancing is well maintained. The takeout menu is available from 17:00 to 22:00, with the possibility of changes. Except for gratin and kamameshi, most items are available. Sashimi is also available. (※Recently, they have also started offering bento boxes. The business hours have been changed to include lunchtime, so please check their Instagram for details.) The beer I ordered while waiting for my food was 【Kunitachi Beer】 Kura Amber for 800 yen. Since there were no other customers, I ordered the following dishes: Half Assorted Duck Sashimi for 1,500 yen, which included duck loin and breast meat with wasabi soy sauce, duck loin tataki with ponzu and ginger, and duck loin with kombu and seared lemon. Since I was dining alone, they kindly served me a half portion. Duck sashimi has a stronger chewiness and umami compared to chicken sashimi. I also ordered a glass of 【Taketsuru】 on the rocks for 680 yen. The dishes I took home were: Duck Loin Rare Fried with Salt for 880 yen, Duck Loin Rare Fried with Sauce for 880 yen, Duck Loin Ginger Grilled for 980 yen, Duck and Green Onion Skewers (2 skewers) for 500 yen, and Two-Color Raw Wheat Gluten for 580 yen. The total including eat-in and takeout came to 7,480 yen. Since my husband doesn't like rare meat, I asked for the rare fried dishes to be cooked thoroughly. However, even if you don't cook them thoroughly, they will become less rare while you are taking them home due to residual heat. If you want to enjoy the tenderness, it seems to be a race against time.

On this day, we visited the second restaurant, which specializes in duck cuisine, with the same members we had visited with recently. Last time, we paired duck with shochu, but this time we decided to go with sake. Due to the late hour, the only duck menu available that day was limited. I think this is the duck sashimi? On this day, we decided to visit this place that had caught our attention for a while as our second stop. Although it is labeled as an izakaya, it has a slightly high-class atmosphere resembling a Japanese restaurant specializing in duck cuisine. The interior is bright, clean, and has a modern vibe. I decided to try the recommended shochu (Torikai & Mitsutake) on the rocks by the owner. The menu focuses on duck dishes, and I ordered the "Duck Sashimi Assortment (3,000 yen)" to directly enjoy the deliciousness of Kaharu's duck. This is the "Duck Roast Tataki." The meat is seared to a crispy outer layer, and the juicy umami of the lean meat is prominent. Indeed, it seems like a great match with shochu. This is probably the first time I've tried "Duck Breast Sashimi." I enjoyed it with wasabi, and although visually it looks like lean meat, the taste is mild and tender. This is the visually striking "Duck Breast Tataki." With more fat in this cut, the shochu on the rocks complemented the richness well. And here is the pleasant surprise, the comparison of "Duck Breast Tataki with Kombu" in two styles. The front one is seared, and the one behind is just marinated in kombu. Both are delicious. This would go well with sake as well. With no other customers around, we chatted with the owner while enjoying the duck. We wanted one more duck dish, so we also ordered the "Duck Breast Soy-Marinated (700 yen)." Unfortunately, I was quite tipsy by then, and my memory of the taste is a bit fuzzy. When it comes to delicious duck cuisine in Takatsuki, "Kinaiya" is well-known, but I felt that Kaharu offers a different world of duck dishes. A small, individual duck meat specialty store. The overall menu is limited, but each dish was delicious. The assorted duck meat platter included roast duck, breast meat, marinated duck, and seared duck, all of them tasty. I had been curious about this specialty duck cuisine restaurant for a while. It is located facing Route 171, with a coin parking lot nearby. In Takatsuki, there is also a restaurant called Kinaiya, so this is the second duck specialty shop I have tried. When I looked at the menu after entering the restaurant, I noticed that there weren't many skewers, which is the main difference compared to Kinaiya. As for the taste, I found it overall to be quite fatty. This can be a matter of personal preference, whether you like fatty meat or lean meat. The chef trained in a traditional Japanese restaurant in Osaka, and you can see his techniques reflected in the dishes. One dish that surprised me was the smoked duck breast. It was a plate with both lightly grilled smoked duck breast and raw duck breast, allowing you to enjoy the difference in flavors. It was delicious! I also tried the duck rice pot dish, which I found to be more refreshing at Kinaiya. All the duck meat served here is from Kawachi duck, which may explain the difference in fat content. I look forward to trying more new duck dishes in the future.

I wonder how many times I've visited this place... I usually order the assorted plate, but today I tried a dish I've never had before! The combination of pickled duck with kelp and white leeks is indescribably delicious! It goes really well with sake. The duck loin yukhoe is tender and flavorful, disappearing in no time. The two-colored nama-fu dengaku with yuzu miso and dengaku miso is consistently delicious. With 4 pieces per serving, it's quite satisfying. I also love the seared kelp and the kamameshi rice. And the rare fried dish is also recommended! Whether you want a hearty meal at the first stop or just drinks at the second stop, this place is perfect. They also have unique fruit sake, which I personally love. The manager will keep you company even if you're dining alone, making it a welcoming and recommended spot.
