The scallops were surprisingly large, and all the sushi was delicious. The sweet potato mochi was also delicious! It's located a little outside of Otaru, so I recommend looking it up before going!

While high-end sushi restaurants are nice, conveyor belt sushi places like this one are just as good!

It was relatively quiet as it is away from the main Sakaimachi Street, making it a hidden gem. The freshly caught sushi was delicious. Although they have a wide variety of menu items, popular ones tend to sell out quickly, so it's recommended to come early. The heart-shaped surf clam made my wife and I very excited! 😂

The quality is not like revolving sushi, but it's delicious. The sushi recommended for that day with "活〜" written on it was the best! They prepare it right there, and the size is very large. I saw such a large scallop for the first time, and the other fish was also good. You can also drink various kinds of beer. We visited on a late Sunday night, so some items were sold out or became unavailable while we were eating, but we still managed to try a variety of dishes. The salmon and ikura sushi with a generous amount of ikura on top, along with a lively shout, was delicious and enjoyable. I used to not like ikura, but the fresh and juicy texture of the little eggs was really tasty. The staff, especially the lady, was very kind and made our dining experience enjoyable.

On the second day of our trip to Hokkaido, we went to a restaurant that my wife had researched. We lined up 30 minutes before opening in the midst of a blizzard, and luckily we were able to get in on the second round at number 2. If we had waited for the second round, it would have been a one-hour wait. The stares from the waiting customers were intense. We had plenty of dishes like button shrimp, salmon roe, grilled flounder, and sea urchin. Beer and sake in the afternoon were irresistible.

Today's lunch. Day 2 in Sapporo. Since I had a hearty late-night snack the previous day, I'm not really hungry in the morning... So, I decided to head straight to Otaru without having breakfast. I thought about going to a sushi restaurant in Otaru... but hey, in this area, conveyor belt sushi must be delicious for sure... So, I walked from Otaru Station to "Kaitenzushi Toppi" along the Otaru Canal. It was 11:30 AM... There were hardly any people around the Otaru Canal and the restaurant was almost empty... Did I make a mistake? But soon enough, more and more people started coming in, and there was a line forming in no time. This was lucky. First, I tried Otaru's craft beer. It had a rich flavor with a slight chewy texture. The 3 kinds of squid sashimi were delicious. Everything was delicious. The live oysters were incredibly tasty. This is Hokkaido... I went to a revolving sushi restaurant called Toppi in Otaru. Even though it was around 2:30, there was a line. These days, there is no revolving sushi, so you have to order and they bring it to you. The octopus was particularly delicious with large pieces of meat. The ingredients were fresh and I was satisfied.

This is a revolving sushi restaurant located along the canal where locals also come. It's convenient to stop by after seeing the canal. Look at the color of the medium fatty tuna. The button shrimp is also impressive. Enjoying Otaru beer during the day and strolling around Otaru with a slight buzz is the best. The prices are reasonable, so it's no wonder locals visit.

I visited the restaurant on a Saturday right at opening time. I chose this place because they offer my favorite types of squid - fresh squid, dried squid, and squid fins served with wasabi, ginger, and yuzu salt. The fresh squid was especially delicious with its tender and chewy texture complemented perfectly by the yuzu salt. I even had a second helping. I also tried something different and ordered tuna cheek meat, which had a texture similar to horse meat sashimi but without any fishy taste. The crab meat soup and crispy fried oysters were also tasty. To finish off, I had a refreshing water warabi mochi. All of this only cost me 2,102 yen, which was surprisingly affordable. I know of other places with good value for money, but being able to enjoy exactly what I want at a low price is the best!

I visited this restaurant in Otaru for lunch before my trip to Yamagata, Sendai, and Hokkaido because it was delicious last time. However, when we arrived, it was just 1 hour before closing time and very crowded. Although the place was bustling, they were sold out quickly. We were quite hungry, so we ordered a lot using the touch panel. The food was significantly delicious last time, but this time it was just okay. However, the button shrimp, chutoro, and seared enagawa were still delicious. I think I set my expectations too high, so my partner's feedback was also just okay. It was the best sushi ever! It was not crowded on a weekday, and the staff were friendly. The portion size was amazing. It was a shame that scallops were sold out, but my craving for "delicious sushi" was satisfied! It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the station, but walking along the canal was nice. This time, I ordered the following items: flounder, sardine, Pacific saury, saltwater sea urchin, snow crab, salmon, squid trio (sliced squid, squid fin, squid tentacles), shrimp trio (sweet shrimp, botan shrimp, large shrimp), 5-piece assorted tuna (red meat, medium fatty tuna, head meat, cheek meat, fatty tuna collar), live sea squirt, and red snapper soup. The quality of the ingredients varied, but overall, they were fresh and delicious. The daily recommendations were particularly tasty.
