I arrived at Rishiri Island on the Heartland Ferry for a romantic trip. On this day, I traveled by bus to Kutsugata Misaki, Rishiri Fuji Onsen, and now I am heading to Rebun Island on the ferry departing from Oshidomari Port at 3:50 pm. The shop on the first floor of the terminal, which was closed earlier, caught my eye. There weren't many typical souvenirs, but what stood out was the instant "Rishiri Kombu Ramen" produced and sold by the Rishiri Fisheries Cooperative Association. 1 bag for 230 yen. It seems to be a ramen that was also introduced on the TV show "Matsuko's Unknown World". When I got home, my wife made it for me. The noodles are slightly green because they are kneaded with Rishiri kelp. It also comes with a 5cm square piece of grated kelp. I topped it with boiled egg and chopped green onions and tried it right away. Despite boiling for 5 minutes, the noodles have a good texture. It has a light and salty flavor. If you turn the instant dried noodles into a proper dish, it would be quite delicious. With 80g of noodles, it also has a good volume. The price is reasonable as well. This would make a perfect souvenir from Rishiri Island for close friends or acquaintances. Itadakimasu!
