This is a yakitori restaurant specializing in Shari-cho's Shiretoko chicken, located in Minatomachi, Shari-cho, Hokkaido, which has also been selected for the Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017 special edition Bib Gourmand. They only accept cash payments and have counter seats along the kitchen and two 4-person table seats in the dining area. Each counter seat has partitions between every two seats. I ordered a glass of Hokkaido Seiri (barrel) shochu with water for 600 yen, and from the Shiretoko chicken yakitori menu, chicken breast meat for 140 yen, chicken tenderloin (seseri) for 140 yen, chicken skin for 140 yen, chicken tenderloin for 150 yen, tail meat for 180 yen, and pork (Sachiku Mugi-oh) for 180 yen, all with sauce. From the fried food menu, I ordered the fried Shari-cho-grown long potatoes for 500 yen, and from the appetizer menu, I ordered the Shiretoko chicken white liver pate with baguette from the Mugi-kobo bakery for 1320 yen. The Hokkaido Seiri shochu was easy to drink with no strong taste, the Shiretoko chicken tenderloin had a light texture but a rich meat flavor, the chicken breast meat had a strong meaty flavor and was delicious, the pork (Sachiku Mugi-oh) had a wonderful fatty texture and was very tasty, the chicken tenderloin (seseri) had a strong meat flavor and was delicious, the chicken skin was soft and tasty, the tail meat had a strong fatty taste and was delicious, the fried Shari-cho-grown long potatoes were crispy with a good balance of long potato flavor, and the Shiretoko chicken white liver pate with baguette from the Mugi-kobo bakery had a high-quality white liver that was well-cooked without any unpleasant smell, paired perfectly with the crispy baked baguette, resulting in a very delicious combination.

It's worth the plane fare to go. Despite the impact of COVID-19, I visited for the first time in over 2 years. There were some effects from COVID-19, but it was still bustling as usual. No matter what you choose, the deliciousness that surpasses expectations is worth visiting Shiretoko, even compared to Tokyo.

Everything I order is delicious. The fried wolf fish and liver pate left a strong impression on me. The liver pate was the best I've ever had. Even though I couldn't eat liver before, I order it every time I go.

We had a meeting at Shaly, and after it ended, we went for a meal. The first place we went to was our usual Italian restaurant, and as always, the food was delicious. I had a bit too much to drink, so I'm not sure how I'll get home, but I had already asked someone to pick me up in advance. There was still over an hour left, so I decided to go to a restaurant I had been curious about - "Kushimaru," a skewer restaurant. I sat at the counter, ordered a beer, and called the person who was supposed to pick me up. They said they could only come at 10 o'clock, so I had some time to spare. Even though it's a skewer restaurant, we didn't order any skewers. I couldn't resist ordering the "Ahi-jo" I saw on the menu. We ordered the "Utaro-produced Yanagidako Ahi-jo," and it arrived in about 10 minutes. It was bubbling hot with a large chili pepper in it. It had a hint of garlic and the octopus was just the right size. I usually make octopus Ahi-jo at home, but sometimes it turns out too tough. This one was cooked perfectly. Next time, I'll definitely have to try the skewers.

This time we are storming into a yakitori restaurant. The place is called Kushimaru, which opened about 4-5 years ago. It is located in the middle of Shari Town, just a 5-minute walk from the Michi-no-Eki and Shiretoko Shari Station, so it's easy to find. The restaurant is long and narrow, with a long counter that can seat about 8 people. There are also two tables on each side that can seat 4 people each. Since it's a new restaurant, the interior is quite clean. It seems like a place where you can casually invite girls. There are about 8 customers, which is quite crowded for Shari. - Chicken cartilage karaage: Crispy chicken cartilage. It's okay. - Grilled salmon belly: The best part of the salmon. The crispy skin is also delicious. The bones can be a bit of a hassle, but I recommend trying it at least once. - Chef's choice 10 skewers: Negima, chicken skin, gizzard, enoki bacon, tomato bacon, pork skewer, chicken skewer, shishito pepper, onion, and one more that I forgot... Personal favorite is the tomato bacon. The crispy bacon with sweet tomato is delicious. - Today's big hit, Shiretoko potato chips: Thinly sliced potatoes fried until crispy. The seasoning is apparently kombu tea. Delicious! It could be sold in stores. - Seafood okonomiyaki: Okonomiyaki made with seafood. I was already full, so I took it to go. It has a chewy texture, like a combination of dango and okonomiyaki. Overall, I think it's a clean and delicious place, but there is one major weakness. The main item, yakitori, is slow. There is only one grill for cooking the yakitori. It takes a while to start cooking after ordering (since there are other customers...). I wish they would add another grill. Also... it's smoky.

During a summer trip to Eastern Hokkaido, we decided to take a break from seafood and visit a regular izakaya on the last Wednesday of July. To our surprise, everything we tried was delicious! The place seemed to be run by a couple, and both the counter and tables were full of customers. As soon as a seat became available, the next customer would quickly take it. The white liver pate had a perfect balance of liver's richness and seasoning, and the baguette served with it was also delicious. We had the same dish at a popular Italian restaurant in Tokyo the week before, but this place clearly won. The grated nagaimo with umeshiso, sliced onions, and chijimi were all simple izakaya dishes, but each one was well-seasoned and truly delicious. The onions had a flavorful salted taste even without dressing, and it was easy to see why this dish was popular.

This is a yakitori restaurant near Shari Road Station. The main seating is at the counter, with two tables that can seat 4-5 people each. The skewers are delicious, and all the side dishes are also tasty. The prices are quite reasonable. I believe they also offer all-you-can-drink options. It's located near a lively area, so it's a great choice for a first round of drinks.
