I'm "Noronori" who mainly walks around eating lunch, centered around Sakai. I found my favorite Kirin Temple in front of Kawachitenmi Station! Of course, I had to go in. It's a ticket machine. I poured hot chili oil and vinegar over it and mixed it up. It's delicious, as always. In the second half, I added some spicy sauce to change the flavor. Thank you for the meal.

In November of the 30th year of Heisei era, during lunchtime (11:00-15:30), you can enjoy a delicious and affordable oil soba for 680 yen including tax. Additionally, you can have unlimited servings of egg over rice for an extra 150 yen including tax. Just mention the secret password to receive a complimentary egg! This place is located just east of Kawachitenjin Station on the Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line.

This is a noodle shop located right by Kawachi-Tenmangu Station in Matsubara. They specialize in maze-soba and operate on a ticket purchasing system. It's a small shop but tends to get busy during lunchtime. The usual price is around 750 yen, but with changes in noodle quantity or toppings, it can come to around 1000 yen per person. The customers are mostly in their 10s to 40s, with many women as well. Before eating, you mix vinegar and chili oil, then mix it with the broth underneath the noodles. It's quite delicious and seems to be popular.

Near Hanoi Tenmei Station, there is a chain restaurant specializing in oil soba. It seems to be popular among students because there is a university nearby. They offer unlimited servings of egg over rice for those who order the oil soba. The oil soba itself is plain but quite delicious.

The owner's attitude was not good. The oil noodles were delicious but it was disappointing.

It's been a while since I had oil noodles. I didn't have lunch that day, so I was really hungry and chose the W noodles. This shop is not outstandingly delicious, but it's simply tasty. In my experience, it's an average oil noodle taste. Adding pepper from the table can customize the flavor. There is also spicy miso, but I prefer pepper. The W noodles are easy to eat. After finishing, I felt like putting rice in the leftover sauce, but I thought I might be eating too much. I'd like to try their egg rice as a side dish, but I always end up ordering noodles.

Today's oil soba! A Tokyo specialty that may not be as familiar in Kansai. I think Ramen Kio also used to serve oil soba. The main store seems to be in Ebisumachi. I had the half-boiled egg oil soba for 780 yen. Since there is no soup, it's surprisingly light and easy to eat. I added vinegar and chili oil, mixed it well, and towards the end, I crushed the half-boiled egg and mixed it in. It was incredibly delicious! They say once you try it three times, you'll get addicted. Kirinji Kawachi Temmae Store, 072-331-6960, 7-6-4 Temmae Higashi, Matsubara City, Osaka.

I had been curious about a shop with a big sign saying "油" (oil) for a while. I couldn't see the other characters from the street, so I didn't know what it was. It turned out to be "oil soba," a Tokyo specialty. I like spicy broth-less noodles like Taiwan-style maze soba, so I decided to try it. I hadn't eaten anything all day, so it was an early dinner at 5:30 pm. Since it was my first time at this shop, I read up on how to eat oil soba. I mixed in vinegar and chili oil as instructed, but it felt a bit lacking, so I added some spicy miso and black pepper, which made it taste even better. It's a simple noodle dish that I feel like I could make at home, but since I don't cook, I'll just keep coming back to this shop. I realized that the taste of oil soba can vary depending on what and how much you mix in each time.

I finally visited the "Kirinji Kawachitenmi Station Front Store" that I had been curious about. Since it is located near the station, there is a coin parking lot, so you can rest assured even if you come by car. I visited during off-peak lunch hours and was able to be seated right away! I purchased a meal ticket. It seems that students nearby receive a discount, which is nice. I wish I had such a service when I was a student. I handed the meal ticket to the staff and shortly after, the half-boiled egg topped oil soba (regular size) arrived! I added chili oil and vinegar from the table and enjoyed it. The oil soba with a half-boiled egg was delicious, with chewy noodles and just the right amount of sauce. I enjoyed it while it was still warm. Thank you for the meal.

In Kansai, there are seven branches of a ramen shop specializing in oil noodles. Despite the name suggesting high calories, the description inside the store mentions that the calories are actually half of regular ramen. The noodles are served hot with chili oil and vinegar, and you mix them quickly before they cool down. I had oil noodles once in Tokyo a long time ago, but I don't remember much about it. However, this one was delicious! The shop seems to be popular among students, and the service was friendly. Just be careful with the chili oil as it can stain your clothes, so make sure to wear a paper apron. Thank you for the meal!

In Kansai, I thought that maze-soba and abura-soba had not yet become popular, but the other day I had maze-soba at Ringer Hut, and this time I went to the popular restaurant "Kirinji". Since Nihonbashi was crowded, I visited the Kawachi Tenmi store. The shop was very narrow and crowded, and I heard many people talking. I found out that it is a popular shop with many students. I purchased a ticket for the normal abura-soba with free extra noodles. There were chili oil and vinegar displayed on the table. This is the essence of abura-soba. I pour them over the hot noodles provided. From when I ate it in Tokyo, I sprinkle the vinegar 4 times around and the chili oil 3 times around. Plenty of vinegar and chili oil. It's not delicious if there's too little. Also, vinegar after it cools down is absolutely not tasty. Since taking photos felt like a waste of time, I desperately mixed it and ate it all at once. I love this type of noodles. Thick with a chewy and mochi-like texture. Noodles that make you want to eat them over and over again. Under the noodles, there is soy sauce broth, so make sure to thoroughly mix the noodles with it when eating. The visual is not great, but make sure to mix it well here. The shop has various explanations written, and I'm happy to be taught how to eat it. Once you've learned the proper basic way to eat it, you can enjoy it in your own original way. The staff's service is pleasant, and I recommend this shop. For those who have not experienced abura-soba, start here first. It's a different kind of maze-soba from ramen, but I recommend it.
