I recommend this restaurant in Shonai for oden and fish. The oden has a refreshing taste with a rich broth, and the fish is carefully selected by the chef. The skills are solid and the taste is excellent. The sushi has smaller rice portions, so it may not be suitable for those who want a hearty meal, but you can always go to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant instead.

Around the Toyominami Market in Shonai, there are casual dining options and izakayas gathered. This place is a new restaurant, so I'm not sure what was here before, but it is a two-story building with a counter and table seating on the first floor, and it seems like you can have parties on the second floor. As it is a restaurant specializing in fish, oden, and sushi, I first ordered oden. The classic daikon and goboten are delicious, the broth is flavorful, something that amateurs like me couldn't make. I tried the "surume" (dried squid) tempura, which is commonly found in Osaka. It was crispy and delicious. For drinks, I started with a large draft beer, then tried a local sake from Shiga, which had many options available. It was refreshing and priced at an average of 650 yen. I also ordered a sushi set of 5 pieces for 500 yen. Tuna, shrimp, white fish, salmon, and squid were included, all were standard choices, but with generous cuts of ingredients. Today, this is my second stop, so I'll stop here, but this is a great restaurant with quality and cost performance unique to Shonai.

The oden and the fish were all delicious! The daikon in the oden was juicy, and the shiitake mushroom tempura had a great texture! It goes well with yuzu pepper. It's tasty when hot, but also delicious when it cools down a bit. The alcohol goes down smoothly! The fish was fresh, probably because the market is close by. The white fish was tender, and the sea urchin melted in your mouth. The staff were all friendly, and I had a really enjoyable time. I didn't know there was such a good restaurant in Shonai! I wish I had known about it sooner! I will definitely go back again. Thank you for the meal!
