In Rausu, after spending time in the mountains, I returned to town and felt like replenishing my energy with a late lunch. I found a yakiniku restaurant next to a butcher shop and decided to have lunch there. I always feel a bit nervous trying out a new yakiniku restaurant in an unfamiliar town. There were government workers and elderly groups dining there. The yakiniku was served in a private tatami room. It had been months, maybe even a year, since I last had yakiniku at a restaurant. I ordered the Genghis Khan and sagari set with kimchi for around 1000 yen. The taste and value for money exceeded my expectations for a butcher shop's yakiniku restaurant. The owner, or someone who seemed like the owner, was busy moving around. Having a tea pot readily available was such a thoughtful touch. Despite being in a new town, the cozy atmosphere felt like being at home. It was a comforting experience.

We used this restaurant for dinner during our sightseeing in Shiretoko. Since it is a fishing port town, I felt that seafood would be better, but my companion really wanted to eat yakiniku, so we visited on a weekday night. However, it seemed that seafood would have been a better choice after all. Even my friend who loves yakiniku and lives in Kitami said, "It wasn't very delicious," and was disappointed. The staff at the restaurant were very kind, and I believe that the locals love this place. However, if you are looking for yakiniku with a Hokkaido gourmet sense, it would be safer to eat in areas famous for yakiniku like Kitami.

In the remote village of Rausu in Hokkaido, I decided to try a yakiniku restaurant run by a meat shop owner instead of the usual seafood options. The restaurant was packed with locals, which made me hopeful for a delicious meal. I ordered kalbi, harami, and Genghis Khan, and paired it with beer. The portions were generous, with 100g servings instead of the usual 60g. The meat was incredibly fresh and satisfying. I ended the meal with a Ramune soft serve. As I left the restaurant, I even encountered a wild fox, adding to the fun experience. It was a delightful yakiniku party. Thank you for the meal.

After enjoying a relaxing sulfur hot spring at the nearby outdoor bath "Kuma no Yu," we decided to have yakiniku for dinner! Tonight, we're having yakiniku in a World Heritage town - exciting! I learned about this restaurant from MyReviewer santa642. When we arrived at around 5 pm, the parking lot was already full! Inside the restaurant, they told us that they were fully booked, but we could sit at the counter if we finished within 2 hours. There were only 2-3 seats at the counter, so it was a close call. Most of the customers seemed to be locals from Rausu town, and it's a popular restaurant that requires reservations. Next to the yakiniku restaurant, there's a butcher shop, and I noticed some familiar faces coming to buy meat for the yakiniku restaurant. Now, let's splurge and eat a lot! We ordered: - Upper Kalbi - Upper Mino - Salted tongue - Salted hormone - Grilled vegetables - Salad Along with rice and drinks. The meat that arrived was nicely marbled, especially the Kalbi. The tongue was thick and seemed to be of good quality. So, after lightly searing them, we quickly took them off the grill and enjoyed them medium rare! The meat was incredibly tender and juicy. The salted tongue was so tender that it practically melted in my mouth! The Kalbi was also incredibly tender and flavorful. The hormone stayed thick and juicy even after grilling, maintaining its thickness. Despite being in Rausu town, I didn't expect such delicious meat! I wish I had known about this place sooner! They run a butcher shop that satisfies the locals with their discerning taste for seafood, and it shows in the quality of the meat. The rice disappeared quickly, and the amount of meat on each plate was surprisingly generous. I was planning to order different meat for a second round, but I was already full! The portion size was larger than it looked, and the value for money was great. It might be better than my local yakiniku restaurant... haha. santa642's review also mentioned that the lunch was good, so I'd love to come back when I'm tired of fish! Shiretoko, a World Heritage site. There's more to eat than just seafood and deer meat - what a treat! ===========

On a weekday afternoon, I visited Rausu town. This day, I had a specific destination in mind and headed towards Honcho area. I parked my car in the appropriate spot and walked towards the restaurant with a flag displayed outside. However, to my surprise, there was no entrance (-ω-;). I circled around the restaurant and all I could see were a large group of stray cats. They seemed to be thriving and surviving well (ΦωΦ). So, I decided to give up and since it had been a while since I last visited this place, I left. The location is off Route 87 towards the tip of the Shiretoko Peninsula, take a left at the intersection behind CVS Seicomart Fujimi store, and the restaurant will appear on your right shortly after. It's easy to find, but the road is narrow so I recommend using a navigation system. The parking lot has space for about 3 cars in front of the restaurant, and make sure to park according to the town's rules. I had visited this place twice before at night, with the last visit being about a year ago. At that time, I did not have any photos and had not written a review yet. However, I had received information from a local that they have a lunch menu here! So, I had planned to visit for lunch at some point. It was 1:15 PM and there was one group of 3 customers already seated (no other customers). The interior of the restaurant was very clean, with 4 counter seats and 3 table seats in a raised area, as well as private rooms and a large hall for parties at the back. The kitchen was manned by a serious-looking head chef and a lively hostess, and a young couple who seemed to have just returned from outside greeted me enthusiastically. This restaurant is known among locals as "Shirasaka-san" and is run by Shirasaka Seinikuten, known for serving high-quality meat. When it comes to meat, this is the go-to place in town. I quickly looked at the menu, and the prices for the meat were generally reasonable. And there it was! The only lunch menu available - the yakiniku set. Without hesitation, I ordered it. The gas stove was quickly lit, and the meat, consisting of sagari and Genghis Khan cuts, arrived within 3 minutes. The thickly sliced meat was very tender, and even when grilled, you could feel the quality of the meat. The Genghis Khan had a unique smell, was light, and paired perfectly with the sauce. Of course, the kimchi and miso soup were also well-prepared. In a fishing town like Rausu, there may be more demand for yakiniku among locals, but as far as I know, this is the only yakiniku restaurant in town. However, here you can enjoy good quality meat at a reasonable price, and be fully satisfied, so it's a successful establishment in its own right. Thank you for the meal.

In the fishing town of Rausu, known for its seafood, there are three barbecue restaurants. Since fish is usually eaten at home, it seems that people want to eat meat when dining out. Despite Rausu being an expensive place overall, these restaurants offer the best value for money. The quality of the meat is quite high, as they source it from a butcher in Bihoro. I always order liver, salted tongue, harami, hormone, and kupa. The hormone, in particular, is of a very high standard, even surpassing some of the better-known hormone grill restaurants in Tokyo and Sapporo. For a restaurant located at the tip of the Shiretoko Peninsula, the quality is remarkably high.
