On the second morning of my trip to Rebun Island during early autumn in 2022, I wandered around the town of Funadomari. I was able to purchase handmade bread from the bakery called Lapin, which was my main goal. In this area, there are two supermarkets and one restaurant. I bought some cod fish fry from one of the supermarkets, Marutake Store. The other supermarket is called Funadomari Marine Store, operated by the Funadomari Fisheries Cooperative. They also sell fresh seafood. I bought a chunky autumn salmon onigiri and a 350ml can of Sapporo Classic beer for lunch. The onigiri, made by Nisshin Seifun in Sapporo, had large chunks of salmon flakes in it. The beer was a bit warm, so I chilled it in the hotel fridge and enjoyed it after a bath. The Marine Store has two locations on Rebun Island and one in Kafuka. They also sell locally caught salted Atka mackerel that needs to be refrigerated. It's a great supermarket run by the fishing cooperative. It must be very helpful for people camping by Lake Kussharo. Itadakimasu!
