I visited in the afternoon and waited for about 10 minutes before entering. I ordered the Iori Special Uji Kin Toki. It had various toppings like matcha jelly and shiratama, which made me happy. I also ordered the strawberry shaved ice, which had ice cream hidden inside the ice, making it delicious. I think it was a one dish per person order system. Thank you for the meal.

This is a greedy set with a mini parfait and coffee! In addition to matcha, there is also a hojicha parfait available. You can also order a larger size parfait, but it comes in a quite large glass like the coffee in the photo, so I recommend the mini size for those with a sensitive stomach. The restaurant is not very spacious, but it is quiet and satisfying to spend time in.

I was just at Daimaru Department Store in Kyoto. As I passed by IORI, I noticed their black honey kinako parfait and decided to go in and try it. This time, I stuck to my original plan and ordered the black honey kinako parfait, which I hadn't had in a while. The dish arrived fairly quickly. I dug in right away. The kinako wasn't too strong in flavor, but still quite good. The black honey was drizzled on top this time, and it was sweet and delicious. This restaurant is located on the basement floor, tucked away at the end, so it's not too crowded and you can relax. Starting from June, Daimaru Matsuzakaya's shareholder benefit card can now be used at restaurants and cafes, so I got a 10% discount by presenting the card, and then used a department store gift card, making it a good deal.

Kyoto seems to have welcomed back tourists, as the traditional Japanese cafes are all lined up. Wanting to try a Japanese parfait since it's been a while since I've been back, I hesitated to wait in line and decided to head to Daimaru underground for dinner shopping instead. However, near the entrance, I found this place. Produced by Sasaya Iori, it seemed like a safe bet, so I went in. The menu offered a variety of Sasaya Iori's famous traditional Japanese sweets, tea, coffee, as well as red bean paste, parfaits, and more. I wanted to try the matcha parfait, so I ordered the matcha warabi mochi parfait and hojicha tea. My two companions also ordered the same parfait and coffee, while another ordered matcha and a traditional sweet called Chofukuji mochi. The sweets arrived shortly after. The parfait had a layer of traditional sweet biscuit, matcha ice cream, agar jelly, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), and warabi mochi. The warabi mochi was especially delicious. The shiratama and jelly were also excellent. The portion size was just right, not too much and easy to finish. The hojicha tea couldn't be included in a set, so it was a bit pricey, but it was deliciously fragrant. The Chofukuji mochi and traditional sweet were not tasted by me, but overall, they were said to be delicious. The coffee was also said to be tasty. The quality of the drinks seemed to be high overall. The service was just average. The interior was not particularly stylish, but the space was relatively spacious with a wide counter. Those looking for the stereotypical "Kyoto-like" atmosphere may not appreciate it, but for those seeking high-quality traditional Japanese sweets and parfaits, this place felt like a hidden gem.

I visited Iori Sasaya's cafe in Daimaru when I wanted to take a break. It seems like all the cafes around here, even the hidden ones, are always full. Finally, I found a seat here. They seem to recommend the matcha parfait, but I chose the set with traditional Japanese sweets and matcha. The mochi texture was amazing, and the sweet bean paste was rich and elegant. This is really delicious. I think I would even buy it separately.

A trip to Kyoto with my wife. Taking a short break at the tea house in Daimaru. 14:10 Entered, seated, and placed an order. 14:15 Sweets arrived. [Summary] Matcha 770 yen: A mature-tasting matcha with a subdued sweetness and bitterness. Sweet potato 165 yen: A Japanese sweet potato dessert measuring about 20x15mm in thickness and 50mm in length. When it arrives, a gentle sweet potato aroma wafts through the air. When you take a bite, the flavor slowly spreads in your mouth. The sweet potato paste is soft and soothingly sweet.

Ordered the elusive dorayaki that is only sold for 3 days a month. It was a bit pricey at around 1300 yen for a small dorayaki set with matcha. But when I tried it, I realized this isn't your typical dorayaki! The texture of the dough was a bit sticky and almost undercooked. For something that is limited edition, it was just okay.

This is a traditional Japanese cafe produced by the long-established Japanese confectionery Sasaya Iori. It offers a Kyoto-style parfait with plenty of matcha and red bean. The parfait is light and easy to finish quickly with jelly and ice cream.

During the long weekend, all the cafes I wanted to visit were too crowded, so I ended up at Cafe IORI in Daimaru basement. Due to COVID, they had spaced out the seating quite a bit, but I was lucky to get in at the right time! I ordered the Matcha Parfait (1210 yen including tax), which is their most popular item. It came with agar jelly, matcha jelly, vanilla ice cream, shiratama (mochi balls), red bean paste, black beans from Tanba, matcha ice cream, whipped cream, and maple leaf-shaped jelly. It was a parfait with a variety of textures and flavors to enjoy. The matcha jelly was delicious, and even though I'm not a big fan of agar jelly, this one was tasty. The matcha ice cream and vanilla ice cream were rich, and the shiratama was chewy.

On Saturday at 12:52, my daughter and I decided to take a break after shopping and headed to IORI. They had a variety of light meal options, but we were feeling hot and wanted something cold to drink. We ordered the Plum Ice for 1,045 yen and the Matcha Parfait for 1,210 yen. The Plum Ice arrived first, served with a handwritten message, a signature touch of IORI. The syrup had a slightly greenish hue reminiscent of plum. The ice was delicate, and the slightly sweet and refreshing plum syrup was a perfect match. The flavor was even better than what I had imagined, and I was immediately captivated by the high-quality plum syrup. My daughter, who loves plums, also enjoyed it and exclaimed, "Delicious!" Soon after, my daughter's Matcha Parfait arrived. She couldn't hide her delight as she indulged in the Japanese-style dessert. The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm and relaxing, with mostly middle-aged female customers. As we left, my daughter and I discussed how it would take a while to fill up the stamp card we had from IORI. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

It was raining so I stopped by for shelter and a break. There were about 3-4 groups around 3:30 pm. The specialty here is matcha parfait and sweet red bean. The drink options are not that extensive, and the prices are typical for a department store café. I ordered the main item, the matcha parfait (around 1200 yen). It was delicious, but nothing extraordinary. It's a nice place for a little break.

Whenever I go to Kyoto, I always make sure to stop by Daimaru at least twice. There was a traditional Japanese confectionery shop's parfait that was featured in a travel magazine, and it was said to use high-quality ingredients, so I decided to visit even though I wasn't hungry. The staff was friendly, the shop was clean, and although it didn't have the typical atmosphere of a traditional Japanese confectionery shop, that uniqueness made it wonderful. Moreover, a lovely strip of paper was placed on the parfait tray, giving off a sense of the traditional Japanese confectionery shop's spirit. There were several parfaits to choose from, but I decided to go with the classic matcha parfait. It looked cute and tasted incredibly delicious. The jelly was bouncy and tasty. Despite not being hungry, the refined sweetness made it enjoyable to eat.

The hot days have arrived again this year. When sweating profusely from head to toe, it's nice to calm down the body with traditional methods. The matcha was rich but the aroma was milder than expected. The red bean paste was light. The rice cakes were chewy. A modern-style shaved ice with everything you want perfectly placed on top. Located in the back of Daimaru Karasuma store. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I visited a famous traditional Japanese sweets shop in Kyoto called Sasaya Iori, located in the basement of Kyoto Daimaru. It's a cozy spot at the back of the department store, which I appreciated. The shop has been in business for 15 years now. During the summer, they are known for their shaved ice, which often attracts long lines, but today, being a weekend, I was able to walk right in. Of course, I ordered their signature item, the ice green tea. They also have special cherry blossom-themed items available now. I was surprised to see that they offer three different rice dishes like risotto and pilaf. It seems they like to experiment with their menu. The green tea had a rich and intense flavor, but I found it a bit lacking in sweetness. I prefer a sweeter taste, so I might have to try a different place next time for my green tea fix.

Kyoto Daimaru's underground sweet cafe run by Sasaya Iori. I used to avoid it a bit because it was underground, but recently I've been stopping by after shopping, especially since they gave me a loyalty card. The menu here mainly consists of Japanese-style parfaits. Among them, there is a parfait that is casual, celebratory, and heartwarming, so let me introduce it to you. - Daruma's Azuki Parfait (1080 yen) On top of a mini-sized parfait is a princess Daruma made of senbei (((o(♡´▽`♡)o))). It has crispy senbei skin, vanilla ice cream, and red bean paste, with plenty of coffee jelly underneath Daruma. The set comes with a choice of coffee or tea. The parfait also comes with a Daruma fortune slip, and I got Daikichi this time! By the way, Daikichi comes with a mini dessert as a bonus (≧◡≦)ウフフ. The parfait also comes with a bookmark that contains a proverb of the month. This month (December) explains the origin of "Shisou" (December). December is busy, even for a master, so the term "Shisou" meaning to hurry, transformed into "Shisou" and then "Shisou" became "Shisou". This playful touch, perhaps stemming from the traditional Kyoto confectionery background, is lovely. Thank you for the meal. I'll visit again next year.

After finishing work in Kyoto, I went to Daimaru to buy the famous Izu saba sushi that my wife had requested (it costs 400 yen per piece). Feeling a bit tired, I decided to take a break at this café. I ordered the recommended matcha parfait (mini size) and an iced tea (Darjeeling) set for 1,168 yen. The matcha parfait that was served had a very Kyoto-like feel to it. It consisted of matcha ice cream topped with whipped cream, as well as vanilla ice cream. It also had azuki red bean paste, black beans from Tanba, shiratama (mochi balls), agar jelly, and various sweet toppings. However, the problem was that the sweetness of each component was overwhelming, and they didn't blend well together. Despite using good matcha, the flavors didn't come together harmoniously. The black tea was a bit disappointing, as there was no lemon provided, only a commercial syrup. The price was quite high for a mini size, so if you want to relax in the department store basement, there may be better options available. Overall, it was a decent experience.

My 5-year-old daughter wanted to eat anmitsu, so we went to the restaurant on a weekday afternoon. The interior was not too crowded, making it a perfect place to take a break while shopping at Daimaru. I ordered a matcha parfait, which was a rare treat for me, especially after having yakiniku for lunch. I was worried if I could finish it, but it had a refreshing taste without being too heavy, so I finished it in no time. My daughter enjoyed her cream anmitsu as well. The addition of a Kyoto-themed phrase made me feel warm and fuzzy.
