Galette ☆5.0
Absolutely delicious!! I haven't been to Kyoto, so I ordered it twice. According to Mr. Ishii, galettes are usually baked, but ours are not baked, so you can taste the butter flavor and aroma more than the flour. As a result, the texture is soft.

Located a 10-12 minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station, Patisserie Lamartine is a popular pastry shop that stays open until quite late. Its convenient location right next to Shimogamo Shrine makes it a great place to stop by while sightseeing. Situated along a main street, it's also recommended to visit by car. This time, I purchased the popular Opera and Caramel Poire. The Caramel Poire, which combines caramel, pear, honey, and cream in a well-balanced way, is a vibrant dessert that can be enjoyed with both the eyes and the taste buds. The Opera, a classic dessert that combines rich chocolate and coffee cream, has a crispy texture and a well-rounded chocolate flavor that was delicious! This hidden gem pastry shop in Kyoto is definitely worth a visit. Bon appétit!

After having breakfast, I decided to visit a cake shop. The first shop I visited was this one. The interior exuded a sense of luxury, with a showcase displaying glossy cakes. I chose two types of fresh cakes for the day. I can't remember the names, but one was a pistachio mousse with a white cheese and a prune and grape liqueur jelly. The pistachio mousse was not too heavy, thanks to the accent of the jelly. The other cake had a tart flavor of blackcurrant, with a refreshing aroma of raspberry jam. I only had a little taste, but the raspberry jam enhanced the overall flavor. Additionally, I tried two types of baked goods: a fig chocolate and a financiers. The fig chocolate had a moist texture, with the chocolate complementing the sweetness of the fig. The financier had a moist texture with a buttery taste, and the acidity of the raspberry sauce lightened the butter, making the baked goods exceptional. The pricing was also reasonable, and if I lived nearby, I could see myself making it a part of my daily routine.

I visited the shop right after it opened. I was really happy that everything was available when they opened. There were so many options and I had a hard time deciding. Everything looked delicious. I bought the recommended Chou à la Crème for 270 yen, the beautiful daily special for 580 yen, and the yellow pear and caramel mousse for 520 yen. I also had a hard time choosing the dome-shaped tiramisu. I wanted to try the Mont Blanc, but it was there with a price tag, yet not on display. It's a bit disappointing. Overall, everything was delicious and I thought the prices were reasonable for Kyoto. I would definitely want to go back. The only downside was that the product tags were hard to read because they were illuminated by the light.

Stylish Kyoto-style patisserie in Shimogamo with a long history! Their specialty is the cheesecake, but they also offer a simple shortcake. They have a variety of cakes including eclairs, cream puffs, and delicate macarons, some with large gold flakes as decoration. They have two new cakes with captivating designs - one with black icing and gold flakes, and the other with red icing and gold flakes. It's hard to choose between the two! The staff is polite and welcoming, making the shopping experience enjoyable. The cakes are elegant and delicious, with rich chocolate flavors and a hint of fruitiness. The chef's dedication to creating beautiful cakes is evident in every bite. The patisserie's simple elegance and charm make it a must-visit in Kyoto!

[Visit date: Early May 2021] I visited this place on a holiday at 12:30 pm and the rating at the time was 3.53. There are many delicious restaurants around Shimogamo Shrine, making it hard to decide where to go. I initially wanted to visit Nakagawa Wheat Shop, but it seemed to be sold out, so I ended up here instead. The exterior of the shop gives off a high-class vibe. Surprisingly, the interior is small, with room for only about three customers. Since there was only one staff member working, I had to wait for about 5 minutes due to the previous customers. There were also some sold out cakes in the showcase. Here is what I ordered:
- Choux Cream (¥270 including tax): Crispy and firm choux pastry filled with plenty of custard cream. The cream was rich and delicious, making me feel reassured about the quality of the shop.
- Clescion (¥530 including tax): Coated with sparkling berry sauce, it looked like a jewel. Inside, there was chocolate and pistachio. It was very sweet, so I recommend having it with coffee. I paid with PayPay. If you need a fork, please ask the staff as it was not provided. The atmosphere was great, and this shop could easily be listed in the top 100. I highly recommend locals to visit. Thank you for the meal.

I had the opportunity to visit this place as I passed by. From the outside, you wouldn't know it's a cake shop because it looks so stylish that you might just walk past it (laughs). Inside, there were lots of cakes on display, especially cheesecakes and cream puffs were recommended and there were many of them available. I found it unusual to see small-sized whole cakes, about the size of a 3-inch cake, so I would like to try buying one next time. I rarely come across shops that sell smaller cakes, so I was happy about that. When eating with 2-3 people, I always end up buying sliced cakes, so I think this is perfect for such occasions! Among the many options, I chose Mont Blanc this time. The taste was... rich cream with a deep chestnut flavor that spreads. The liquor flavor didn't seem too strong. One small disappointment was that the whipped cream inside was a bit too heavy. It was a bit too much, so it felt heavy. The sponge and the bottom pie or cookie were delicious, so if the whipped cream was a bit less, I would have been completely satisfied! You can't use credit cards, but you can pay with PayPay. I would like to try other cakes as well!

This shop is characterized by its heavy doors and exotic atmosphere. You feel like you've stepped into a foreign country. The interior is smaller than expected, but the polite service from the staff is pleasant. The Phrase Shortcake is 600 yen and features a fluffy sponge and a cream with a gentle sweetness that is like a textbook shortcake. The Clair de Lune is 490 yen and has a pistachio base with a chocolate mousse topping covered in berry sauce. The sweetness of the chocolate and the acidity of the berry sauce are the main flavors, but you can also subtly taste the pistachio. I personally enjoyed the taste. It's a great shop with a lovely atmosphere and friendly service. Kyoto's dessert shops in the competitive area are really good. Thank you for the meal.

After seeing everyone's reviews, I was planning to get the cheesecake because it seemed delicious here, but... the other cakes look too good too!! So, I'll come back another day for the cheesecake. Today, I'll choose my favorite cake! I picked two cakes, but I forgot their names... First, there was a brown oval-shaped one. The combination of chocolate and banana seemed overly sweet, but this was totally different! The bottom was a bitter cocoa crust. On top of that, there was cream and what seemed like praline cream? and a banana paste with a fruity texture. The ganache also had a refined bitterness and was delicious. Next, there was a pistachio mousse wrapped in a green jelly. There were layers of the same black cocoa crust at the bottom and in the middle. On top, there were raisins with stems. Crushed pistachios were sprinkled on the surface, giving it a nutty flavor. I love pistachios, but it's rare to find cakes that focus on pistachios, so it was a precious encounter. Both were very delicious, and I'll definitely have to come back! I want to try fruit-based cakes as well as cheesecake. It's within walking distance from a station I often go to, so I'll visit again (*ˊᵕˋ*)♪

I visited the restaurant for the first time before 6 a.m. on November 2, 2019. The exterior looks high-class. Today, I purchased a Mont Blanc and the recommended dessert of the day, which was a fruit shortcake. The Mont Blanc had a pie crust instead of the usual meringue base. The fruit shortcake was loaded with fruits and looked very luxurious. I preferred the Mont Blanc, especially during this season. I plan to try a chocolate dessert next time.

I have never eaten cakes like these before. The green ones are two types of pistachio cakes, the red one is a berry and pistachio cake, and the black one is a tiramisu cake. I won't go into detail about the taste. You will understand the deliciousness once you try them. Each cake costs 500 yen, but they are all satisfying.

(2015 visit) A cake shop located in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, in Shimogamo. It faces Shimogamo Hondori. It's located right in front of Shimogamo Shrine. Although not a long-established store, it has been around for about 20 years. The favorite here is the cheese tart (Tarte Fromage). It is quite rich for this type of tart. They use a lot of cheese. The weight when you hold it feels oddly heavy, making you feel like they use good ingredients. The balance of acidity and richness is at a high level, making it a truly favorite cheese tart. You can buy it by the slice or whole.

There is a cake shop in Shimogamo. The shop may look intimidating to enter, but please muster up the courage (laughs). I forgot what cakes they have besides Mont Blanc, but they are really delicious. I come to buy them once a month.
